The answer is no. Opinions can change in big issues, but this is film and petty arguement. Opinions won't change in something like this. If your a grown man who enjoys the PT, then your opinion will not change. You can't grow out of it. You love it. Your opinion won't change. As kids we can grow out of things, learn that some films are better than other and that fart jokes don't actually qualify as jokes. As adults, we can't.

Yeah....whatever. I've actually made lots of good points about this. I've said many times, he's not a troll for having different opinions, but for derailing every thread to that topic and shoving his opinions on everyone. James, read my posts before judging me. I am not the kind of guy that bashes people for having different opinions on things like movies. But this IS trolling. He is a classic troll. Read through a whole disscussion Go Mer was on, and you'll see what I mean.

But you know what? I just don't care anymore. This has all gotten rather silly. I can say whatever I want, and it won't shake Gomer, ever. People like JameEight will just think Gomer haters stupid without ever looking at the facts, ever. People who hate him will always hate him. I can't change it. Everyone will have thier own opinions, and no one's will ever change. So there's no point to this discussion at all.

There's a very huge problem here. As per your proposal:

* Any OT talk that involves the SEs goes on the PT board
* Any Star Wars talk that encompasses all six movies would go on the PT board
* Any SW talk that doesn't involve strictly the O-OT (and, presumeably, the EU based around the O-OT) goes on the PT board.

First of all, newbies would get confused at this. They would see a board called the "OT Board" and assume its the place to talk about the SEs. They would never think that you would talk about the SE-OT on a board labelled PT--it just isn't logical.

Secondly, considering that practically all we do here is moan about the changes and the PT, it seems to me like all that would happen is that most of the discussion would migrate to the PT board and we'd be right back where we began.

Thirdly, topics such as Lucas interviews.... where would they go?

Finally, the fundemental question of Go-Mer would not be resolved at all. In fact, I suspect that people like Darth_Evil would just continue complaining about him. It would be worse because we'd have people finding even more baseless reasons to pounce on him.

Case in point, imagine if someone posted in the hypothetical O-OT Forum, and asked about an obscure plot point in Return of the Jedi, and Go-Mer responded and simply answered the question, WITHOUT bringing the PT or the SEs or the EU into the discussion (which I know he's capable of because I have seen him do it). Go-Mer's critics would not care for the actual content of his post, they would simply see a Go-Mer post in the O-OT forum and assume he was "trolling," and in their minds they would have even more hard evidence even though they really wouldn't.

Personally, I think it would be bad management if Originaltrilogy.com created another subsection for their forums--the ones they have already cover pretty much all the ground possible and adding a new one would not resolve anything, but would actually create more problems later down the line.

There's already a place to talk about SE changes vs Theatrical, and any newbie can find it. (I did.) If Gomer did, one day, answer something within the realm of the Unaltered trilogy, I'd listen to him and would not call it trolling because it would not BE trolling. When every post is the same thing, glorifying Lucas and pushing our buttons, he's trolling. I will complain about him until the day he begins bringing relevant points to this discussion. Simple as that. I'm reasonable, and I'm fair. People who come here and love the PT are ok in my book, as long as they don't shove opinions down our throats and actually have evidence to support thier claims.

EDIT:
Oh, and why do we keep whining about PT changes? Oh yeah. Gomer keeps derailing the threads to that topic, in which we present our views. If he didn't keep derailing topics, those opinions would only come up sparingly.

Shut up you stupid fucker.

Here's my opinion on Go-Mer. He's a classic internet troll, and an excellent one at that. He's a textbook troll and anyone saying otherwise is a textbook idiot. He derails every thread he visits making it a PT arguement so he can glorify his gay lover Lucas. I'll say it one more time. I AM OK WITH DIFFERING OPINIONS, but only when they add to the discussion, and don't derail it. Hell, who knows if Go-Mer even really thinks it. He's just trolling.

And this thread probably only has a few posts left before Jay closes it. Remember how I tried the same thing?

We need to ban Go-Mer. End of story.

The long-standing perception has been that the complete Star Wars saga is a 9 film cycle, and after Episodes I through III were finished Lucas would move on to Episodes VII, VIII, and IX, resuming where Return of the Jedi had left off. "That's really not part of the plan at this point, " he says. "When you see it six parts, you'll understand. It really ends at part six."

Whereas the prequel plotlines have their basis in the original treatment for Star Wars that Lucas wrote in the early 1970's, "I never had a story for the sequels, for the later ones," he says. As such, he'll move on after Episode III to non-Star Wars projects, "and also, I'll be to a point in my age where to do another trilogy would take 10 years." (Lucas will turn 55 in May.) Would he be amenable to letting someone else carry on making Star Wars movies, much as he has permitted other writers to carry on the lives of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Princess Leia in authorized novels, comic books, and CD-ROMs? "Probably not, " Lucas says. "It's my thing."

So your proof is some article from the year of TPM...after Lucas began his revisionist history.

Bring me some better evidence troll.

Gomer, stop defending Lucas. It's pointless.

Thing is, I don't think any less of Lucas because he had no master plan. That's fact. He had no master plan. He had a script called The Star Wars, and when it while it was being written and filmed, he got ideas for a possible sequel, but no master plan. I think no less of him for this. It's absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. Why do Lucas and Gomer think it is?

What I hate Lucas for is lying through his teeth about it. He's lost all my respect for trying to glorify himself so much.

Complicated? Poigant? Oh my god, what has this country come to? If Monster House is complicated and poigant, then I am a leopard with herpes. We've seen this story a million times. Some beloved dies, takes over a physical material, terrorizes young protaginists. Young protagnists defeat said dead beloved and restore peace. Wow. That's new. Yes, all children's fare is crap nowadays, (most of it) but Monster House is just as much crap as the rest of it. Only standout kids films this year have been Cars and Over the Hedge, which were both lots of fun for the whole family.

Monster House's main problem is that it has no audience in mind. Adults won't like it because its kiddy and cheesy. Teens won't like it because its cheesy enough to vomit at and doesn't have blood and guts. Little ones won't like it because its scary. 7-12 year olds might be the suggested age range, but what can they find in it? Even they'd like something more exciting. It has no audience in mind, and it crashes and burns. I can't believe people were actually calling it the next Goonies. THAT was a kids movie. Every kid could relate to it in some way. Not Monster House. At all. A monkey smoking dope could have come up with the plot.

Back on the topic of 3-D....I don't know about the rest of you, but I think Borat should be in 3-D!

It's on the verge of becoming totally unfun to even visit the site anymore b/c every thread i click on is full of Gomer praising prequel & modern GL suckitude with nothing to really back it up. he has yet to present one shred of convincing evidence to back up his claims that the prequels/SEs are any good, but he won't fricking shut up about it. I've become weary of reading the same tired crap in every thread. GO AWAY Gomer. This is ORIGINALtrilogy.com. NOT prequeltrilogy. NOT specialeditiontrilogy. ORIGINALtrilogy. If i want to read prequel gushing or GL buttkissing, I'll go to tf.n or starwars.com. Leave us alone!

Right on the dot. Go-Mer is sucking the life out of this forum, to the point where it's absolutely no fun to post or read posts. He derails all threads to lucas loving, has yet to say what's so great about them, and forces his opinions down our throats. Plus, he won't talk about anything else....at all. Said it before, I'll say it again, differing opinions are great when they add to the discussion and bring new life into it, not sucking life out of it and when people can back up thier opinions. Otherwise, find a board where the discussion is all trolls trying to troll eachother.

Gomer, I take my hat off to you for being the finest troll I have ever seen, perfectly manipulating and sucking the life out of a forum. You are a very skilled troll, and I bet many wish they had your skills.

I now put my hat back on and give you the finger. Just Fuck off Gomer.

Monster House sucked in every sense of the word.

I saw Nightmare Before Christmas in 3-D too, and it was great fun. I still have the glasses as a souvenier, and they were very confortable, fitting easily over my glasses, and easy on the eyes. This new kind of 3-d rocks. It doesn't give headaches or eye aches, and none of it is blurry. It feels like watching a stage show. It simply immerses you in the experiance, and I think Star Wars in 3-d would be cool. Releasing Star Wars again in theaters normal would be awesome, but it would be even more worth it in 3-d, because it would be something totally new.

And in response to Casualimp, they have released 3-d movies on DVD. Spy Kids 3 was on DVD in 3-D, albiet a red and blue scheme, which must be 50 year old technology by now. They might not be able to do polarized on DVD, but they can do 3-D.

Another bloody edit of TPM (* unfinished project *)
Time
Sounds like a great edit, and would vastly improve the film. I'd love an edit where gungans are axed entierly, but alas, that is impossible.

Here's my edit of episode one, which I think is personally the best one ever accomplished, and improves the film vastly. First, I got rid of the whole film. That had to go to improve the move. Then I put my edit on no home video format. Then I put that non existant disc into no case. Now I have the film the way I want to watch it, a way I can enjoy it.

I saw AOTC and ROTS each 7 times, mostly because the DVD came out so soon I could handle waiting more than I could with TPM.

Nerd. I see movies multiple times, but 4 is my limit.... jeez man...21? Nerd.

Jedi as ninja
Time
Thing about the PT is that the entire idea of the Jedi and the force was completely changed. We would assume that Jedi were calm and do a fair amount of sneaking, never ever rushing into battle, only fighting when neccesary, and when that usually happens, with blasters. Lightsabers are for civilized duels between mortal enemies, not for just fighting with whenever you get the impulse. The Jedi in the OT were even designed to be like Samurai, Knights or Ninjas, not intergalatic fight-crazy warriors. The lightsaber fights in the OT were fahioned after old Knights or Samurai fights.

In ROTS, George just gave everyone a lightsaber and said, "Have at it." That was basically the whole script. Nothing like the REAL Jedi in the OT.

Forgotten Films

You know, if it weren't for someone ripping off the Honeymooners, we wouldn't have Flinstones.

Disney in its second golden age of the eighties and early ninties might have ripped a few things off, but they were excellent films in every sense, and I really don't care if its ripped off.

Nowadays though....the only animated movies worth watching are Pixar's ones. The disney company should just be shut down, except for thier live action department. I wanna see Pirates 3! After that though, they can shut it down and we can remember the days of Walt and his nine old men, and when Roy Disney had a say at the company and great films like Beauty and the Best, little mermaid and lion king were made.

Really Anchorhead? That's actually pretty amazing. I admit now that I was young enough when the PT was coming out to be taken in by all of it, thought I didn't much enjoy ROTS. When I saw that, I was just getting my taste for movies refined into an adult style, and I saw that it was pretty damn bad. Now, my taste for movies is very adult, and different than most people. I love the classics like old Disney films, and the live action classics. I love action films and dramas, and can easily sit through a 3 hour set piece, which I love. I'm the only one in my family that enjoys slow movies, and sees the stupidity in modern American cinema. Like I'll even bother with the modern horror film...so stupid. I think my taste for movies comes from being a film critic for the Denver Post's Kids section for four years now, reveiwing lots of films before they are released. I've seen more movies than most my age, or usually any age, and I'm glad I have, because I'm proud of my taste in good film. And this taste shows me now that the prequels were total crap. If I had had my current taste in film, I probably would only have seen the films out of curiosity. I would have preferred never to watch them, but curiosity would get the better of me.
