2004 / 2006 OT DVD: Crazy Idea
Time

Does anyone think that the color/sound problems from the 2004 editions will be changed for the 9/12 release? If that were the case, I would consider buying this release. That was my main gripe with the special edition of ESB, besides Ian McDarmid in the emporer scene. Of course, fixing this wouldn’t salvage the other 2 movies, and I’d still prefer the OOT of all 3, but it’d be interesting to see.

Any thoughts?

Sorry bout that. The ad I looked in was wrong.

BTW, the DS version looks good too.

And I feel the same way about the game being about the prequels. I thought it would suck because it was the prequels, but it was actually so much fun.

Lowest Priced OOT DVD Search.
Time
Ok, I just found the best deal looking in the sunday ads. Circuit City will be selling each one for 14.99 with some beautiful lithiographs. You get the corresponding lithiograph for each film.

Best Buy is 16.99, or the tin is all three films for 59.99. (*cough*ripoff*cough*)

Target: Don't know price, but you get little conceptual art posters.

So I'd go for Circuit City if you're buying them.

Star Wars Title Mash!

mash up all the words (not including "the", "of", ect.) of all the start wars films... (separate PT and OT if you wish) and put them all together to a title that makes sense!

you're allowed to use different suffixes (like Revenger) but the word has to stay intact...

have fun mashing... and some titles cn be pretty funny!

Example: Star Wars: Attack of the Sith Phantom-Clones' Menace Revengers

GO!

Edit: Oh crap... I should have had this up on the "General Star Wars" board right? Stupid me... I just realized

Sounds fun. I'll try.

"A New Hope for the Sith's Revenging Empire Striking Back Against Returning Jedi and Phantom Menace's."

Idea: New KING KONG 2005 Extended Edition EDIT
Time
I wish more of those deleted scenes would be going into the movie. Just 13 more minutes? Anyone remember the LOTR extended versions? 30 minutes to and hour.

And yeah, Kong did drag, though for me I really just thought so in the scene where they captured him and the empire state building scene. Other than that, the film was fine for me. ( I like long movies. Go figure. )

Episode IV: What Has Changed?
Time
Many of the changes, like beefing up the backgrounds, are nice and make the movie look good. Some are stupid. In fact, I'm ok with most of the changes, there are just some that really tick me off. Such as:

Greedo shoots first.
Extra bantas and stuff in background.
The scene where the rebels fly from thier base to the death star, a dramtic scene where we see the pilots and their fear, is replaced with a video-game looking CGI shot of the ships going by.
R2-D2 going from a dark blue, almost black to light blue. Or maybe its visa-versa. Either way, it was stupid.
The droids having no dirt on them when they are on Tatooine in the special editions. That made no freaking sense.

Other than that, I'm really fine with changes in the first one. There are some other unnecasary ones, but nothing huge.

Who is Excited For LEGO Star Wars 2?!
Time
I know I am. The first game was a lot of fun, especially because you got to play it through with a friend. Early reviews say that 2 is better in every way; cutscenes, gameplay, humor; I'm excited. The first game was much better than the real prequel trilogy, and I'm sure the second will be better simply because its the original trilogy. Can't wait to see how they execute Luke's hand getting chopped off. That'll be funny.

I think its going to be on Xbox 360 with Xbox live, which makes that the system to get it for.

I'm looking forward to this way more than the 9/12 DVD release.

George could learn from the staff from 24
Time
Killing her would be bad. I'd feel so bad for Jack and I don't know how he'd go on. But they don't need to keep including her. Her reapperance in season 5 could have been so much more...

Kim: I HATE YOU!

Jack: I was doing what was best for you.

Kim: Who gives a ****?

Jack: You could have been killed.

Kim: So?

CTU Agent: Nerve Gas!!!!

(Chaos ensues. Later, after Jack saves the day...)

Kim: I hate you.

Jack: I just saved your life...

Kim: Screw off. I'm going to go get it on with my boyfriend.

Jack: He's older than me!!

Kim: So? You don't care about me!

Jack: What do you mean?

Kim: You never told me about being alive!

Jack: It was to save you!

Kim: Who cares. I hate you. Goodbye.

Kim's plot's are always like that. Stupid and ranting....

Idea: for... Custom Made DVD Sets
Time

Ok, maybe this is the wrong place to post this thread, but it seems to be the most appropriate place. This thread (and I’m sorry if this has been done before on another section of the site) would be for posting a list of your custom made DVD sets so that others can take advice for building thier sets. What I mean by custom sets doesn’t mean DVD’s you made into sets, a collection you’ve made of official and/or non-official DVD’s.

I’ll start with my Lord of the Rings custom set for an example.

FOR ALL THREE FILMS:

4-Disc Extended Version
-Extended Version of Film Split Across Two Disc with 6.1 DTS sound. Best version of film avaliable.
-2 Discs of Bonus Features

Disc 2 of Theatrical Cut Release
-Includes Trailers and featurettes/documentaries not found on the Extended DVD bonus material. Great Disc to add to the collection.

Disc 2 of Limited Edition
-Includes the Costa Botes documentary. A comprehensive look at the trilogy without all the fluff narration. Just footage.

EXTRA NOTES:
-That’s how I’d do the set. You could also add the theatrical version, if you’d like it. I peronally find the Extended Editions vastly superior, and don’t need the theatrical version, but for anyone who wants it because they like both or because they want a more comprehensive set, add it. I would NOT reccoemend you use Disc 1 of the limited editions if you want both versions of the films. It won’t look as good as the seperate Extended/Theatrical release discs, and you’ll lose the 6.1 sound track. Plus, it’s one of those two sided discs, and that’s really all that needs to be said on why not to use the limited edition version of the movie.

PACKAGING:
I would use the packaging for the 4-Disc extended editions. Keep all the 4 discs in their specified place. Take the other two (or three) discs and put them both in a seperate paper disc sleeve. Put these sleeves in the flap right next to movie part one, where the booklet is. They fit very well. And now you have a comprehensive six (or seven) disc set for all three lord of the rings films. For anyone keeping track, that’s eighteen or twenty-one discs total.

So with each post, you should comment on someone else’s list or make your own modifications too it, and/or add a new guide to making a custom DVD set. Make sure to specify where you get all discs so people can know where to get them if they want to build them.

Just saw TV ad for DVDs for the first time....
Time
I just saw that commercial too, during Friends on TBS. They were talking about "now my kids can experiance Star Wars how I saw it" or something like that, without mentioning it had the OOT on it. I also saw the LEGO Star Wars TV spot. I'm anticipating that one more than these DVD's, by far. The original was twenty times better than the real PT (in acting too) and I'm sure the second will be even better.

Lord Of The Rings Limited Edition DVDs

Yeah, the quality won't be nearly as good. Stick with the EE set.

What I did was take Disc 2 out of my theatrical set, put it in a disc sleeve and put it in the flap of the EE, and sell the theatricals. I really want to do that with the limited editions too (I'm a sucker for bonus features, especially when they're my all time fav. films) but I don't have the money to get a whole new set with.

But for anyone who hasn't gotten the films yet, skip the limited editions and get the 4-disc extended editions set. I got eavh one of them the day they came out and still haven't made it through the bonus material. They're a great deal, definately the best bonus discs I've ever seen. I love all the stuff they have about Tolkein on them too.

But I definately want to see the new documentaries; maybe someone is selling disc two on eBay.

Poll: Do You Think the OUT will be Released Again in '07?
Time
I said yes because I do believe that Fox will force Lucas to do a good transfer of the OOT on there, or they won't release it. If the 9.12 release doesn't sell, Lucas will see it as people don't want the OOT, but Fox will see it as Lucas being an idiot, and will make him do the anamorphic transfers. I think we can expect nice looking OOT in 2007. In which case, I gladly get the set.

I'm already curious to see the Star Wars 4.0 on the new DVD's, and the bonus material. But I just don't the prequel trilogy again, which is why I almost wouldn't buy the set even if it had good versions of the OOT. Just kidding, I'd still get it, sell my prequel DVD's I currently own, and just keep the new ones in the set, maybe watched once or twice.

2006 OT DVD: Poll: So What are You Going to Do?
Time
I have no idea. I kind of want to, but I have nice looking bootlegs, so what's the point? I might pick up Star Wars so I can have the version without the "New Hope" title on it. Also, it would look better than my bootleg, and noticably too. But ESB and ROTJ probably won't look much better on the new DVD's, so no point really.

If I had the money, I'd get all three. But I don't. Maybe someone can help me make up my mind..

Nah, a croc could never have gotten Steve. He was too good for that. I bet the only animal that could have gotten Steve would be a sea creature.

I'm very saddened by this news (first read it on the IMDb) and my thoughts go out to his family and friends and thier time of grieving. There have only been a handful of people as brave as Steve, and it's very sad that we'll never see him wrangle a croc again.

Movie production updates for Terminator 4 And Star Trek XI
Time
WE DON'T NEED A NEW STAR TREK MOVIE!!!!!

And if we do, stop clinging to Kirk and Spock. They had six movies, three seasons, and 40 years of conventions a repeats.

Plus, TNG was much better than any Star Trek series, as were the movies, even at thier week points.

Never seen Terminator, but when I do, I don't think part three will be on my Netflix Q.
