Stuff I'm posting on alt.binaries.starwars

_________________________________________________

Hey gang,

As promised here comes a whole bunch of Star Wars DVDs.

Here's what's coming (in the order that I'll be posting):

- The Row47 Trilogy
3 DVDR's total
This is the original trilogy (non-special edition). It's the TR47 set
remastered by the orginal creator.

- The Star Wars Holiday Special
The Angrysun "Unauthorized Collection"
This is the version of the Holiday Special that you all heard about.
Highest-quality transfer from 1st generation broadcast tape.
You won't find a better copy anywhere.

- The Forgotten Scenes
Ark Impressions Release/ Angrysun Remix
Fan created Slideshow/Video Clips of cut and unused takes .
Includes the workprint of the alternate "Jedi" ending.
(this is in PAL format)

All posts will include 10% par2 files.
I'll be busy posting this stuff so help each other out with reposts.

None of this is available anywhere else.
These are by fans for fans...NOT FOR PROFIT!
If this stuff shows up on ebay I'll be pissed.

What would you like to see in a scifi/fantasy web site? The time has come for a change...

If we users can discipline ourselves to use this site as a click-through to these other sites, then revenue can be generated for the site just from our regular online buying habits. Seriously, if a link to Amazon guarantees a cut of the proceeds from a subsequent purchase, I'd be sure to not enter the URL directly and always go through a site I cared enough about. This merits more research as I don't fully understand the terms of these deals. But I do know that many sites have placed ads to several of the major online sites with such affiliate programs in place.

I second that idea. Also the google ad syndicate would also help defray costs without being too obtrusive.

atodorovic...thx for the post. Keep on sharing the good stuff...its appreciated by folks here and the fans on the newsgroups. GREAT POST!!!

wadetv...my usenet tutorial will have sections dealing with both rar and par2 files. If you can't figure it out yet, just save EVERYTHING to a temporary file on your harddrive and hang in there. Check out the "usenet tutorial?" thread for the progress on my step-by-step how to. I just started it last week and it will be no longer than a week before I'm done and you'll see EXACTLY what to do with everything.

To all users of MySpleen!

Think about how many DVDs you've gotten from myspleen.com, then think about how much you would have had to pay for them through other sources (if you could even find them anywhere else).

I think that donating $10 through PayPal is a very small price to pay to help keep myspleen.com online.

Go ahead, help out gang. Do your part and keep MySpleen! and all of the great torrents there alive.

IMPORTANT!

To anyone who has gotten any DVDRs from me, I've been getting CRC errors in stuff I've burned in the past 3 weeks. I'm not sure if its the media or the burner (I got an HP 530i yesterday to replace the old sony) but quickly burn a new copy of any discs that I've sent out in the past 3 weeks. I aplogize for any problems, I just discovered this yesterday.

ENTIRELY OFF TOPIC:

Hey gang,

I know that this is OT and all, but hey...I'm a fan of a lot of the Star Wars mythology and I don't ever want it to wither up and blow away. Methinks that Lucas sees a lot of himself in Kevin Smith. Both indie filmmakers, both going 'out on a limb' at times...and the fact that Kevin is probably as much of a fan of Star Wars as any of us. Anyways, that being said...I'd love to see Smith pick up the gauntlet so to speak. Think about it, a fan of our ilk essentially becoming the creative power behind the expansion of the Star Wars story. Imagine the possibilites. One can only hope...

Kevin Smith being coy about future Star Wars stuff...

Kevin Smith dropping a BIG hint...

Anyways, I know that this has no place in this thread other than the fact that its all Star Wars and its all good. I'm now leeching the ADigitalMan Pre-ANH, and from what I've read about it...I'm very excited to watch it. Mmmm, hot popcorn with butter, a warm blanket, and Star Wars...what could be better? Thanks for everything gang.

p.s. Say, would you like a chocolate covered pretzel?

You are right at home...as we all are. I meant what I said, and I'm sure many others feel the same as I do. Everyone's contributions are always appreciated, its what makes the scene such a dynamic place to be.

As far as adding the SE documentaries to the set that you are conceptualizing...if they fit in, why not? Redundancy means nothing, I have 4 OT's and counting...others have many more. If it's Star Wars, let's see it. Think about what a special DVD you're creating. I'd really be interested to compare and contrast the broadcast interviews and features with the stuff from the SE VHS set myself. Here's to hoping...

Addendum: Looks like Rebel11_38 has the same train of thought...but I didn't know that RiK had the SE doc's on DVD. Good dice.

Thanks a lot! Reading your post gave me a really good feeling...I think that I'm on the right track...

Now for the bad news, the Wife is all sour at me for being on the computer too much. Tomorrow is her day so I'll be scarce, but the rest of the tutorial will be up soon enough!

May the force be with you.

I slapped together a quick desktop using a really cool image of burnt Anakin from Zion's site...
nothing special or fancy...but I like it.

I've been dreaming of the scene where he hits the lava for so many years...

heh...as I gaze at my "Lords of the Sith" 12" Darth Vader with his helmet off (removable helmet with burnt Shaw's head...cool to the highest degree)...he stands vigil right next to this moniter.

Thanks again for the tip Moth3r...the files are now hosted off-site.

When I ran a search in google for "agent" and "keygen" it came up with so frickin' many Jaurez sites that this simple little site I'm putting up should never hit the radar. And in any case, the filez are now hosted off-site. Let's just say that they were 'found' and I'm merely offering help on how to use them.

Hmmm, I never thought of that. If this blows up in my face it would probably strain our relationship to say the very least I'll come up with something else. Thanks for the tip.

Addendum:
The file is now on a free server. It makes you want a minute before you can download so be patient, but its fast and free. Once again, thanks for the tip Moth3r. It saved me much potential woe.

Thought on de-SE'ing the DVD
Time
my 2 cents (and they're worth about that)...

ADM, a most excellent edit of the SE RoTJ! kudos.

Now then, I'm a big Jabba fan. For whatever reason he's my favorite character in the OT. That's pretty profound when you consider that I only actually like about half of RoTJ.

warning...mad tirade coming...
(ewoks? come on...you take the concept of the wookies, switch the syllables from wook-E to E-wook...then you dress up the lollipop kids in funfur...it's so sad.)
mad tirade complete

Anyways...I love Jabba, but only the RoTJ version. Maybe it's the fact that he actually looks like he's based in reality. You'd figure that ILM could get a slug correct in CG, but the simple fact is that they haven't. They just can't seem to re-create the visceral repulsiveness that Jabba so embodied in Jedi with a computer. The dim light shining off his slime, that disgusting tongue licking Leia, the way that his eyes moved when he reacted...

My vote (for what its worth) is that he stays solely in Jedi.

This sounds great Rev...

MoBiUs just "took the words right out of my mouth"...or I guess that I should write "off of my fingertips". Are these the 'making-of' videos that followed the SE VHS trilogy? It's been over 5 years since I had a VCR player and I'd love to see those documentaries again...even though they deal with the accursed special editions.

In any case I'd definitely be very interested in seeing it. You're definitely a valuable member of these boards Rev. Hopefully you'll even be able to distribute it on the newsgroups

Some of the same content, as far as interviews, is used in the stuff on the 1997 VHS set, yes, but each special has something unique to it. Otherwise, I wouldn't still have them on tape.

heh, Vapryk was the name that I used back in the "wizards and warriors" (pre-D&D) days...I chose Osor because it's Latin for "one who hates" and it fits since my Star Wars persona is an evil Jedi.

Thanks Rev, they say the "a picture is worth a thousands words"
Since I'd sure like to see a bunch of us over at a.b.starwars, I wanted it to be as clear as possible.
No bells-and-whistles, just straight-forward step-by-step instructions on getting on usenet.

The rest of the tutorial should be up as soon as I get a few more hours to work on it.
