  • Battle of Endor: The Lost Rebels DFR/BD (09:06:20) -> Death Star Space Battle (b&w&/col) VIDEO: ½///*** AUDIO: //none/
    This footage includes Rebel pilots who never made the final cut, plus additional action featuring the Millennium Falcon’s support crew. Footage of General Madine as the Rebel leader was shot in case the puppet of Admiral Ackbar did not look convincing.

There is a 9 hour 6 minute 20 second scene?

I am thinking about making a regrade of the new UHD Transfers of LOTR, so they look like the DVDs, in terms of sharpness and definition would it be worth it or should i stick to this version?

I would go with the UHD versions. They are definitely improvements.

No.

I was talking about the color grading which I think is an improvement over the original. It still has way too much DNR and EE though.

Actually, now that I do more examination I found that it depends on the scene. Isengard and Rivendell look much better on the blu-ray, While stuff like Hobbiton and the mountains look much better on the UHD. But if I was watching fellowship I would choose the Blu-ray anyday because of the atrocous quality of the UHD.

Would it not be amazing if we got a Darth Vader movie directed by Christopher Nolan?

Lucasfilm could have done a Darth Vader series, but they are interested in bringing cartoons to live action with all the inherent sillyness of helicopter lightsabers, and inquisitors. They would probably mess it up. Never wanted the cartoons to merge with the live action any more than the EU to be directly adapted. Different mediums.

Clone wars/Rebels are not cartoons.

Lord of the Rings: Extended Editions Actually Suck?
Time

I have never seen the theatrical editions, just the extended, and my one big complaint was that they are way too fast paced. The theatrical versions must be absolutely awful, like MST3K level. The extended editions would of really benefited from another 2 or 3 hours each. I was sad about the lack of Tom, barrowdowns, the oliphaunt poem, and much more.

I don’t give a shit about Christopher Nolan, and I doubt he cares about Star Wars. All he does is guys in suits in cities with a muted cold color palette. It’s just not interesting. The grounded feel of the Dark Knight Trilogy was certainly interesting as a novelty, but at the end of the day, I’d rather the Burton films’ look.

Have you seen inception? Also in my oppinion muted colors look so much better than the normal oversaturated fare today.

I do have to remark, that the source here is not of sufficient quality due to extreme black crush.

I think it is a problem with the mac version of the color matcher. The one you gave me turned out good. Here is another example.

Ok, so I found out some software called streamfab can download this, but there is a catch. It is rediculusly expensive, so is there anyone who already has it?

I don’t think anyone has that, no one would spend on that

Well, it can also download from netflix, disney plus, hulu, peckock, amazon prime, and some others that I forget.

edit: the others are hbo max, hbo now, olympic games, funimation, channel 4, fanza, and there are too many to list out.

but it is 250!

Chewbacca & holiday special stuff starts at around the 17min mark 😃.

Out of curiosity, what’s the resolution?

All I was able to find, and it was aeons ago, was 768x432.

The copies you gave me are much better quality, but they are missing little parts here and there so I created a patchwork of different copies that overall created the best possible quality. Also for some reason the HD-TV you gave me has a orange tint, and the part on internet archive was slightly to yellow. I used them in this order of priority.

  1. The stream rip you gave me
  2. The HD-TV you gave me
  3. The 4:3 internet archive source that snoopac ripped for me

Would someone be willing to find a way to download this for me?
https://archive.org/details/COM_20120111_073000_The_Colbert_Report/start/0/end/60

That was annoying. It’s split up into multiple parts each 1 minute long. I wrote a quick bash script to download all the parts. Works on Linux. I think Mac would also work with this?
And if you have ffmpeg, it also combines them all:

main_link_start=“https://ia800609.us.archive.org/16/items/COM_20120111_073000_The_Colbert_Report/COM_20120111_073000_The_Colbert_Report.mp4?start=
main_link_end=“&end=”
counter=0
>colbert_concat
while [ $counter -lt 1800 ]
do
filename=The_Colbert_Report_$(printf “%04d” ${counter})-$(printf “%04d” $(expr ${counter} + 60)).mp4
echo “file $filename” >> colbert_concat
wget -O ${filename} ${main_link_start}${counter}${main_link_end}$(expr ${counter} + 60)
counter=$(expr ${counter} + 60)
done

ffmpeg -f concat -i colbert_concat -c copy The_Colbert_Report_20120110.mp4

In case that didn’t format correctly when pasting here:

code

I just ran it and it finished. When it’s done, it had the following files:

All the ~6mb files are the 1 minute mp4s.
colbert_concat is an intermediary file made by the script, needed by ffmpeg to combine.
go.sh is the actual script
The_Colbert_Report_20120110.mp4 is the final file, 179mb.

The final file seems fine. Most of the transitions at the minute marks are unnoticeable (3-4 of them had a bit of corrupted video).

Chewbacca & holiday special stuff starts at around the 17min mark 😃.

Actually, how about you just send me the files.

If I am missing something obvious it is because I am very unexperienced when it comes to command lines.

Just to be clear, the result looks fine in the tool, but wrong in Final Cut? I haven’t had any issues with LUTs in Resolve, but I have never worked with Final Cut. Have you tried using LUTs from the tool in the past?

Yes you got it right, I have tried using luts from the tool in the past and they worked fine.
