Darth Lars:
Darth Venal said:the "skin" doesn't look enough like Mark Hamill's skin, it doesn't match, so the prosthetic is too obvious.
The hand in the picture is a real hand... but it is not Mark Hamill's hand. He was not present when the closeup effects shot was shot.
That has nothing to do with what I said. I was saying that the "flesh" on the prosthetic forearm doesn't look the same colour as the real hand. Whether it was really Mark Hamill's or not is completely irrelevant. But thanks for the correction.
Ghost:
Also, I would add CG buildings on Endor because I never bought how the Empire had one little room controling things. Make it look intimidating.
You know, I really like that idea. Not overkill, but I think some angle like the Empire destroying the forest to build its base would be a great addition, and deepen the nature vs technology aspect.
Hmm, that's got me a thinking.
Yes, in about three years' time. A quick mock-up to tide us over?
Wee-o-wip-bop-bop-weoo
Well, Boba Fett is now a clone, of Jango. But all this hogwash about identical voices is ridiculous. There is no reason a clone, who was seperated from his father aged 10, would sound exactly like him. Sure, he could sound like him, but not necessarily.
Oh, and for the record, it's a New Zealand accent, not Australian.
Well, this is only a compressed mock-up, I keep all the layers seperate so that I can animate them in the edit.
There will be a subtle cloud movement, and there are still other Palace elements to add.
This is my in-the-works new matte for Jabba's Palace. It's very similar in composition to my first one, but the actual image is a lot more detailed and higher res. It obviously loses a lot of that when reducing it to a jpeg for photobucket, but you get the gist.
Anyway, as I proceed I've come to a decision I just can't settle on; these are two slightly varied skies that I've done, one keeping elements from the first matte. All constructive opinions more than welcome!
Cheers.
If you really want to save Boba Fett, why not just edit him out of Jedi all together? After all, there's no particular reason he has to be there. But if you really want to keep him, just have him in the Palace and then not on the sail barge.
It's not as if every character from the Palace could squeeze onto that sail barge.
Well, sometimes people like to change things for the sake of changing them, for aesthetic and not dramatic reasons. For me, if it works dramatically and changing it wouldn't improve that, I'd leave it alone unless it was really bad FX work.
I agree with your points about cutting the droids. Seeing as the plot follows them until Luke meets them, it'd be dramatically inept to remove them.
I'm very OT interested in what you didn't like about Blade Runner: The Final Cut.
Octorox:
"However, I am suggesting this as an alternate cut, not as necessarily "Better" than the original"
But unless you're generally trying to improve something, then really, what's the point? Surely Star Wars fans know better than all others wher changing things for the sake of it gets you.
I saw that Even Flow thing before, it's really funny. My favourite is the heathen frog and buttered fries.
I saw one of Celine Dion years ago:
"And I know
That
The hot dogs
Go on..."
And Mark Hamill does not say Carrie.
Bingowings:
"faintly glowy wrist syndrome"
I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy, it's horrible.
Nice idea, but how on Earth would we achieve all that?
Yeah totally agreed with that.
I really hope that's a joke. Because if we going changing "Carrie" to "Leia" then we'll have to change the line in Empire where Han says to Luke "I must've hit pretty close to Mark..."
Like, he totally calls him Mark.
*sighs*
Yes but the scenes with Luke were only cut to allow the plot to advance faster, restoring them could not possibly be as bad as the Jabba scene.
Personally, I would prefer the movie with the Tosche Station scenes in because they fundamentally deepen Luke's experience on Tatooine. That's why so many stories have been written and drawn about that aspect of the story.
Couldn't help it, dude. Everytime we play the BSG I think aquarium!
:-)
For fuck's sake, shut up about it.
Well, in fairness, Angel, none of it was shot on film. All of Episodes 2 and 3 were shot digitally, which is stored on tape (most people don't believe that) not on a disk. So there isn't actually any film grain in either of those movies. But I know what you mean about the CGI being too clean.
In the earlier days of CGI, long before HD, CG scenes were deliberately "dirtied up" to make it blend with the film better. But with HD now they rarely do it.
Timstuff:
I like the idea that there is organic tissue covering the bionic hand, and it makes it a bit more convincing within context to the story, since it provides a believable concept for how the arm can integrate with Luke's body.
Obviously, the present-day George Lucas would probably shy away from showing a drop of blood, but since that's a non-issue I'd love to see Adywan add in some pseudo-terminator blood like I demonstrated.
Well, who said the arm is fully integrated with Luke's body? We never see the actual join. And as for internal mechanics being connected to his nervous system, we can already to that on Earth, so there shouldn't be any issue with that whatsoever.
As for your second point, seeing as this hand is mechanical and not biological, why would there be blood? When Luke gets it shot in Jedi, he does exclaim, but just because there is no blood does not mean there are no sensors connecting it to his nervous system. And that laser bolt doesn't actually harm him, as he continues using the hand without a problem. And there's no blood.
The "skin" doesn't look enough like Mark Hamill's skin, it doesn't match, so the prosthetic is too obvious.
I would lose the bridges and rework the inner lift shaft as just that, making it look less industrial. Adding the usual Empire strip lighting would help that I think. I don't think I'd put in extra floors, just leave it as a lift that only goes from the throne room to a secure area at the surface or lower.
