It refuses to download, it remains "idle". Anyone know what to do with it?
Hal 9000, what operating system do you run ? If it's Windows, which version ? If it's 2000 or XP, which filesystem type -- NTFS or FAT32 ?
That torrent consists of a single file, larger than 4GB. It ain't gonna fly on a FAT32 file system partition.
Sharing is nice, and Rikter is a nice guy for sharing, but if he insists on using RAR for surprise I wish he'd consider splitting the RAR into smaller 1GB chunks. You won't see any 4GB VOB files. VOBs are split into 1GB chunks for exactly the same reason-- because >4GB files are unfriendly, and unusable with certain OS/filesystems.
Thanks, but I'm well aware of the Deleted Magic project and I'm really looking forward to its final release. I was talking about the DVD of the pre-ANH version of Star Wars he was referring to.
I'm not talking about the Deleted Magic project. I'm talking about the pre-ANH crawl Star Wars version which ocpmovie mentioned earlier in this thread, and which tygerbug (a.k.a. ocpmovie) mentioned in the hyperlink I posted above. Apparently that version had some restrictions placed on its distribution. In the hyperlink tygerbug wrote "... that it wouldn't be spread around everywhere, or widely copied."
I'd like to see it spread around everywhere, and widely copied.
In addition to SW, I also collect Grateful Dead and Frank Zappa. For the most part, Deadheads seem very willing to share their collections. By contrast, the freaks & mothers who collect FZ all too often hoard their stuff, and won't share it. Of course there are exceptions in both camps. When I spoke of the "elites" I meant those who would keep it for themselves (or amongst their cliques) rather than spread it far and wide via torrents, usenet, p2p, etc. That sort of attitude bothers me anytime I see it. Sort of like "I have xyz, but YOU can't have it, else our pissing contest might end in a draw." Piss on them. I'm just venting my frustration. Of course no one is obligated to torrent anything, and I'm not entitled to a copy just because I'd like to have one.
I applaud the members of this forum including ocpmovie who are willing to share their preservation efforts with the rest of us. To the author of the aforementioned pre-ANH who doesn't want it shared, I'm blowing raspberries.
Now, won't you all join me in that trippy hippie deadhead dance. Shake them bones baby !
Don't you wish one of the "elites" would break protocol and torrent this for the masses ? Shirley surely the "statute of limitations" has expired by now....
Can anyone hook me up? Discs, torrents, FTP, Usenet group -- whatever. I'm resourceful (if a bit lazy).
Get your resourceful-yet-lazy self on over to the usual torrent site-- the one which tracks all of Blaksvn's torrents, and is named after a somewhat obscure body part.

Are you with me Dr. Wu^H^HGonzo
The first Angrysun HS (@MySpleen) is from KCMO-TV5 in Kansas City, MO if that helps.
The Second Angrysun KCCI Des Moines version sure looks good ! Check out this thread and scroll down to November 20 ... if you haven't already seen the screencaps
I'd like to give a big wet thank you kiss to Rikter for the Holiday Special torrent. What a hoot for a KC homeboy to see that KCMO-TV5 station identification midway through. If I watched the original airing (honestly can't remember) it would have been on channel 5. Thanks Rikter

My burner is an OEM model BTC-1008. BTC provides a utility program to set the book type which is used in conjunction with your burning software. I think recent versions of Nero offer the book type option on supported hardware without the use of the separate utility program.
I've had good results setting +R media with DVD-ROM book type. Just last night I gave a m8 Dr.Gonzo's ANH to text on Xbox and PS2, so we'll see how that works. So far so good on all the standalone players I've tried.
ESB is missing the Leia welding footage, so it was probably sourced from an early pressing of the '93 LD.
In ROTJ, where the smoke from Vader's funeral pyre rises up to meet the fireworks, the image breaks up. Sorry I don't know all the jargon -- "pixellization" ? "encoding error" ? -- it looks yucky for an instant.
The bonus disc has the still image galleries outside of the DVD-Video zone, and within the DVD-ROM zone. Farsight's still image galleries are visible on a computer, but not as slideshows on a standalone player (unlike Dr.Gonzo's bonus disc.)
Zion are you capturing analog audio or "ripping" it in the digital domain ?
TR47 did an analog capture apparently, with the recording level set too hot, and the signal got clipped. But I thought [some] LD players had digital audio interface (optical cable) allowing one to rip the digital signal without the extra D>A A>D step. Clipping would be a non-issue in that case, wouldn't it ? Maybe I'm dreaming ... I don't own an LD player, but I thought the PCM came straight from the LD via optical cable ?
The English subtitles along with the ISOlated score make a great experience. However it seems the one who transcribed the subtitles lacked a proof-reader. In an early scene we see improper usage of We're / Were / Where : The dangling officer gurgles "Were on a diplomatic mission." Which elicits Vader's retort "Were is the Ambassador ?"
Vader is misquoted "bring me the Ambassador. I want her alive!" Doesn't he demand the passengers ? I want them alive.
Luke's reply to Aunt Beru on speaking Bocce is misquoted as double negative: "Doesn't look like we don't have much of a choice, but I'll remind him."
I wouldn't correct someone's grammar in a message forum post, but here in the subtitles I expected a higher quality standard. I'm sure transcribing the entire film was tedious work, but I was hoping for perfection Be careful Viper, to correct the misquotes in your Spanish translation.
Despite the flaws, I still preferred to have the subtitles turned on while listening to the ISOlated score. For the price of a blank dvdr, it's worth every penny. The white line doesn't show up on my ol' TV either.
The nfo file doesn't say which Laser Disk [sic] they're sourced from. There is a somewhat noticeable side-change as Luke enters the carbon-freeze room and the door slams shut, leaving R2 out in the hallway. I believe the '93 CAV set has a side-change at this scene. What about 2-disc, CLV, or other pressings ?
The nfo file says "Widescreen 16:9" but mplayer is telling me 1.33 Hmmm, I guess I'm not much help answering your ?'s
Kirby, I too noticed something different about the authoring of Farsight's ESB & ROTJ, compared to Farsight's ANH. ESB & ROTJ will not AutoPlay when inserted into my standalone player. Instead my screen turns all white. However, if I press the Menu button ( Farsight set don't have menus, as Rik mentioned above) but if I press the Menu button my white screen goes away and DVD player logo returns. Now I can press Play button and the movies will start. (ANH will AutoPlay upon insertion, just like normal.)
Try all the buttons ! Maybe your player can be coaxed into playing them, as mine was.
Farsight and DrGonzo are two different sets (as others have already noted)
------Edit oops, I should have refreshed my screen to see you've already got the answer !
