DVD: Return of the Ewok and Other Little Films (Released)
Time
Originally posted by: ocpmovie
I have completed my third and I think final version of the Return of the Ewok disc.

Here's the info:

D1: first attempt.
D2: Same as D1, with an extra Jacket Picture added.
D3: Jabba scene further reedited and improved.

I have burned several copies of D2, so you might not get quite the best version of the Jabba scene ... all D1 and D2 copies are marked as such on the disc.

I would like to request that only the D3 version be torrented.
Which version has time stamp 2005-05-12 23:25:35 GMT ?
I hope it's D3 I've got, but I won't spread it until I'm certain.

Here's CRCs for my jacket pictures and Jabba scene:
J00___5L.MP2 85388611
J00___5M.MP2 6ACDDF40
J00___5S.MP2 A3DBCC4B
VTS_10_0.IFO A4F0088F
VTS_10_0.VOB 7840CE50
VTS_10_1.VOB B98668CB

Is this D3 I've got ?

The first disc has been posted ? Then I must have missed it.
ThatArtGuy, do you recall when it was posted ? Would you be so kind to pop in your disc and check the file dates ?
While the file dates might not give the definitive answer (especially if they were RARed prior to posting), still they might provide a clue.

Right on, segaflip !

(But one question ... why those ghey backwards slashes between directory names ?

(And the V.sfv you posted to usenet has hexadecimal digits as upper-case letters A-F
while the one "cut-n-pasted" here has lower-case hex digits

Keep up the good work !

Woohoo! segaflip has provided CRC-32 checksums, which I've pasted below, cut from the .sfv file at a.b.sw

cut-n-pasted from "Cowclops V.2 - IV.sfv":

VIDEO_TS.IFO D365D6F9
VIDEO_TS.VOB 7840CE50
VIDEO_TS.BUP D365D6F9
VTS_01_0.IFO 59EED0CF
VTS_01_0.VOB 380E1F72
VTS_01_1.VOB 0DCBD3BD
VTS_01_2.VOB 50C673DB
VTS_01_3.VOB 1FD813DC
VTS_01_4.VOB 079726A6
VTS_01_5.VOB 489C2897
VTS_01_0.BUP 59EED0CF

Now I ask, is there anybody out there who's already got discs from TR47 (burned by TR47 himself)
who can either confirm or deny these checksums ?

Use your favorite "SFV" program of choice to check the checksums
[or you could even use your ZIP or RAR program, in a pinch, since they also use a CRC-32 checksum algorithm]

Do they match ??

"... on usenet, unmolested ..."

It would be cool ... but how could we recognize "unmolested" even if we saw it ?
Is Cowclops gonna provide us checksums (SFV, CRC, MD5, SHA1, etc.) ?
Anybody else feel like offering checksums ? (preferably someone who's gotten discs directly burned from TR47)
That way anyone who receives it, through any distribution channel, could be assured of its unmolestedness.

Still, I've download my share of VIDEO_TS directories which I consider "ready to burn",
on the other hand I've also gotten ISO images which are not ready to burn IMHO.
Take Moth3r's for example -- good transfers, but why is the NFO not included inside the image ?
Metallaxis' cover for Moth3r's ANH was completed after initial release, so it's not inside the image either.
I like to burn the NFO and cover onto the disc, so for me the image wasn't "ready to burn".
I also like to include checksums on the discs I burn, but that's a whole 'nother can-o-worms....

And IF I wanted to remove the boilerplate from one of Ritker's offerings,
him releasing it as an image sure wouldn't stop me.

The reason stated for not upgrading (that 98 was more secure against worms and viruses these days) just seemed an odd reason to stay on 98, and didn't sound right.
That line of reasoning seems a bit odd to me as well, but I won't argue for or against Win98.
I will mention that Win98 users aren't the only ones "stuck" with FAT32.
On my laptop I dual-boot Win2000 and Slackware Linux. I've got a 2GB C: drive where Win2K lives, a smallish ext3 partition where linux lives, and a large partition for data, shared by both OSes.
Now linux-2.4 (even the newest Slackware version still ships with 2.4 kernel) can read NTFS, but cannot write to it, so FAT32 is still my best choice for the shared data partition.

I grow tired of answering, so this will be the last time ...

Hmmm ... now let's think about this ...
If the main release had contained the original files, then I wouldn't have posted the fix !

SPLIT-SCREEN_EP5.part001.rar contains files which are different than those posted by Wookie Groomer in February.
Wookie.Groomers.FIXED.EmpireStrikesBack.SplitScreenDVD.rar contains files which are identical to those posted by Wookie Groomer in February.

The files which match the .SFV are identical to Wookie Groomer's files from February.
The files which match the .MD5 are identical to Wookie Groomer's files from February.
The files which don't match the .SFV and don't match the .MD5 are different than those posted by Wookie Groomer in February.

Furthermore,
ANH_SPLITSCREEN.torrent,
"Wookie Groomer Presents - The Empire Strikes Back 1980-2004 Splitscreen - MYSPLEEN Release.torrent", and
"Split-Screen - Jedi.torrent" all contain files which are different than those originally posted by Wookie Groomer.

I ran the movie just fine with the other files.
I'm sure you did.
But they are different to the files Wookie Groomer posted in February.
What's different about them ?
Bit 7 of the Prohibited Region Mask at byte-offset 0x23

Blaksvn's torrent also has the changed ones -- different to the ones Wookie Groomer posted in Feb.
Who changed them ? Why ? When ? . . . Who knows ?

In the name of Preservation, I'm giving you the un-changed files, exactly as they were posted by Wookie Groomer.

Yes, but im confused. Is the entire release "SPLIT-SCREEN_EP5.part001.rar"

Or is the "Wookie.Groomers.FIXED.EmpireStrikesBack.SplitScreenDVD.rar" at small fix?
Get both.

First get SPLIT-SCREEN_EP5.parts
Keep the files VTS_01_*.*
Replace the files VIDEO_TS.IFO & .BUP with ones from Wookie.Groomers.FIXED.ESB...rar

Use .SFV or .MD5 to test the files. Then you'll have the complete "FIXED" version.
Only if they pass .SFV or .MD5 test, can you be confident (gazillion-to-one probability)
you've got byte-for-byte clones of "FIXED" files posted by Wookie Groomer himself.

Shout out thanks to Wookie Groomer himself
and blow raspberries to whomever changed the .IFO & .BUP and lost the .NFO along the way.
Have you never heard of Preservation ??? Checksums I tell you !

Keep the "non-FIXED" .NFO if you like, but it describes the older Dr.Gonzo-based release, which isn't the one you've got.

I originaly used Dr. Gonzo's as the 1980 version and it was nothing but trouble to work with. I now used the TR47 version and all seemed to edit smoothly.
