Help Wanted: looking for... Moth3r's Return Of The Jedi preservation
Time
Metallaxis uploaded a torrent two days ago, and it looks well seeded now.
If you copy all the non-corrupt files to your hard drive using the same directory tree structure as he used,
directory called "Star Wars VI - Return Of The Jedi by Moth3r (PAL transfer)" with a sub-directory VIDEO_TS inside it,
then a torrent client could resume downloading from ninety-something percent.

The .VOB files are identical.
The .IFO files are different.

The .ISO files segaflip posted were mastered by Nero.

In my brief experience with Nero (and one of the reasons I no longer use Nero)
I found that Nero will in some cases change an .IFO file it doesn't like for whatever reason.
Worse yet, it won't ask your permission first, it won't tell you it's changing the file, and it won't freshen the file's timestamp to indicate it's been modified.
Nero's authors should be ashamed.

I suspect (but cannot prove) that's what happened with segaflip's EditDroid set.
segaflip has stated he received the discs via trade.
I think somebody, somewhere along the line, downloaded the myspleen files, burned them with Nero, and Nero changed the .IFO files, before they ended up in segaflip's hands.

Of course there's no guarantee the myspleen files match the EditDroid masters either. They might have been changed.

And here's a bit more evidence against Nero:
The Japanese Special Collection discs segaflip sent me were mastered by Nero.
segaflip posted Special Collection .SFV checksums (presumably generated from original discs sent by dark_jedi)
but the .IFO checksums don't match the Nero copies (changed by Nero, I suspect) which segaflip sent to me.

segaflip's a nice guy and all, but he might consider using better software than Nero if he cares about checksums like he's stated previously.

Then this website wouldn't exist, and we'd all be biting our tongues pretending to be satisfied with George's SE and SSE.

I think you've misinterpreted Grinder's comment.
I'll betcha he meant another dark_jedi capture rather than his own or somebody else's

Mono mix for Moth3r's ANH DVD

I didn't notice any de-sync issues. Thank you for sharing it.
Since Dr. M's video left room for LPCM sound, maybe you'd consider releasing an uncompressed version (or 448kbps perhaps)
after Belbucus finishes his resoration ?

Dr. M's Reinventing The Wheel Edition (PAL to NTSC+) (Released)

So, has anyone tried the mono mix on Dr. M's ANH yet?
Just finished muxing, and watching it now from the laptop plugged into the telly via composite cable.
So far so good aboard the Tantive.
The dangling rebel "on a diplomatic mission," Leia "senate will not sit still for this," and
the Imperial officer "holding her is dangerous" all look good and synced.

Gonna skip ahead to the Yavin battle next ....

...[2 hours later] couldn't bring myself to skip -- had to watch the whole thing!
It looks good all the way through. Thanks for sharing it.
Didn't notice any de-sync, but I did hear a strange little "chirping" noise during the silent bit (commercial break?) where the trooper bonks his head on the door.

segaflip posted Citizen_EP4_PAL_SL on a.b.starwars one month ago (October 9-10).
Probably ought to wait until it expires from Giganews (50+ days retention) before I'd consider a repost ... OR
... I'll give you the copy I've got.

Citizen's NTSC DVD & XviD are wonderful and will remain in my collection, but the PAL with "chipmunks on helium" soundtrack
needs a new home.
Check your PM box, TrueDis.

[IIRC, Citizen tried using pitch-preserving software but was unhappy with the result.]

Mono mix for Moth3r's ANH DVD

which I "IVTCed" (multiplied by 0.8) to arrive at 174,481.

Since then I've had a closer look using VirtualDubMod.
After 'cat'ing all the VOBs into one giant MPG, VirtualDubMod shows 174,495 frames for both Doctor M versions,
and they seem to line up with Moth3r's.

Near the beginning I compared the following frames (remember in VirtualDubMod the first frame is 0):
1065 - the words "STAR WARS" appear
4119 & 4120 - nasty film scratches in the Tantive corridor

At the end, as the medal ceremony wipes to the closing credit "Written and Directed by GEORGE LUCAS"
the W and G appear in frame 169,108.
After the last credits fade to black, I noticed some white specs at 174,358 and 174,445.
Not sure whether those white specs are on the film print or LaserDisc sparkles,
but they line up perfectly between Moth3r's and both Doctor M versions.

Again, all three show 174,495 frames in VirtualDubMod.
Dunno how IfoEdit came up with 218,101 but we wouldn't be using Doctor M's IFO anyway, right ?

If it's 174495 (2:01:17.9) then it'll be a doddle for me to put out a compatible mono file.
Start doddling, please

You might want to try asking for it in its own thread, I know there are a few people that need to PIF still.
Yes, I'm one of those who needs to PIF, but I'm having a slight problem ...

Was it the real segaflip or a poser who posted the SFV files in a.b.sw ?
Please note: I'm not talking about the RARs that were posted -- only the SFVs.
IF the SFVs were posted by the real segaflip (maybe they weren't),
but if they were posted by the real segaflip, shouldn't they match the discs you sent me ?
Any ideas why they don't ?

I've already tried reading the discs in two different drives -- my burner and my [employer's] laptop.
Neither drive seems to have any trouble reading them, yet neither drive matches the posted SFVs.
