The Thief and the Cobbler: Recobbled Director's Cut (Released)
Time
Disappeared from the website maybe, but all four torrents are still active on the tracker.
isoHunt & mininova both still have the .torrent files.
There's nothing to stop a seeder from jumping back on. I did so on the DVD.torrent last night.
I'd seed the others if I had them. It wouldn't take much -- #1 is swarming at 93% and #3 at 99.7%

A few months pass...
Nineteen years have passed, and we're still waiting for EMI to do justice to The Beatles' catalog.
Those commercial CDs are crappy rips.
That's why guys like Dr. Ebbetts are playing the "X0" role with ultra-high-end turntables and pristine vinyl and getting better results than the official CDs.

I never got it so I cannot seed, but here's a piece of friendly advice:
trip42 is seeding it. You can't see each other because you're both behind firewalls.
I think it's the seeder's prerogative to use a firewall if he chooses, and the leechers (if they want it badly enough) should configure their own firewalls properly to allow the seeders to connect to them.

When the pizza delivery guy knocks, do you open the door for him ?
Or do you refuse and sit inside starving, safe behind your firewall ?

The Thief and the Cobbler: Recobbled Director's Cut (Released)
Time
You've done great work with the Recobbled project.
I'm sure lots of folks have gotten it from demonoid and enjoyed it.
But I think you should take those "completed" statistics with a grain of salt.

I recently upped Doctor M's "Reinventing The Wheel" trilogy @demonoid.
The stats currently show ANH with 65 completed, ESB has 128 completed, while ROTJ shows 581 completed.
I simply refuse to believe ROTJ is that much more popular than ANH.
(And I took care when naming the torrents to maximize the chances that the search function would find all three.)

Again, I don't mean to diminish the work you've done on Recobbled, nor the enjoyment MANY have gotten from it.

Using PCM Out of Laserdisc Players
Time
If your discs have no rot spots whatsoever, then the player shouldn't matter in theory.
But in the real world some players (typically more expensive ones) are better than others at reading through rot spots.
If the player comes to a rot spot it cannot read, there would almost certainly be errors in the PCM bitstream as well as visible picture glitches.
(Unless the rot spot happens during a silent moment in the soundtrack.)

Disclaimer: I've never owned an LD player.

I think the search function is broken by design. It only searches thread titles, not their contents.
If you search again, you might get one hit
If you insert "siteriginaltrilogy.com" (no quotes) before your Google search, you should have much better luck.

Back on topic, you might like to check out the free trial @womble.com

Make that "site : originaltrilogy.com" with no quotes OR SPACES. Damn emoticons.

Eraser posted his trilogy in mid-March. I'm not aware of any news provider with a retention that long.
Having said that, I still have his ANH RARs on my hard drive. I didn't grab ESB & ROTJ because:
a) I didn't have a DL burner yet at that time
b) I didn't have very much free disk space
c) I was somewhat underwhelmed by the screenshots that russss posted

If you like, I can provide you Eraser's ANH RARs either by reposting or ... ???
We should talk (privately?) about your LD captures (Cat# 1130-84 and 1425-84) with original Dolby stereo soundtracks
which segaflip had in his queue before his meltdown.

Try a different web browser, or a different version of your favorite browser.
Myspleen has been quite picky lately about browser versions.

Alternatively, go to your user profile and turn on private messages (PM). They're off by default.
When I see you've got PM's enabled (there'll be a padlock icon beside your forum posts) then I'll send you one.
Or send me one (click the padlock icon beside this post).

I prefer Astraweb, for their pay-by-download pricing model where unused gigabytes never expire. It fits my usage pattern.

ThatArtGuy, you're certainly free to recommend NewsHosting if you like their service.
I want to make it clear, however, that my mention of Giganews wasn't intended as a recommendation.

Giganews offers a free trial, which might help trickbaxter form his own opinion about whether or not he prefers them.

Giganews claims 70 days retention, which influences my opinion about how long one ought to wait before reposting, even though I'm not a Giganews customer.

You'll be able to get the old stuff too, not just new.
Does Giganews still offer the free three-day trial ? When I tried it, it was limited to 2GB total so it wouldn't allow you to grab ADM's, but you could get the X0 timecode that way and try out Giganews.

Hmmm, I reposted that one during the first week of May, IIRC, for The_Blond_Babe who posts many cool vids in a.b.beatles, such as the Let It Be film which has never been issued on DVD, preserved from LD.

RATLSNAKE, I owe you one (for Dr_Gonzo's Supplemental Material from torrentbox).
I'll be happy to re-repost it, but proper 'netiquette suggests we should wait until it expires from Giganews who claim 70 day retention.
It's still on my hard drive, but let's wait a couple weeks longer and then I'll repost....

THX to ADigitalMan and segaflip for the original post. segaflip, I hope your new PC is coming together soon

Update: Rather than re-reposting to a.b.starwars, instead I've seeded a torrent @demonoid

Preserving the "German" Original Trilogy (Released)

I'm off-topic since they're neither German nor PAL, but for comparison
the time-compressed '82 NTSC LDs preserved by dark_jedi & The Starkiller aren't pitch-corrected.
They're slightly high-pitched, sort of like spinning a record or analog audio tape too fast.
