FanFiltration, you're still welcome to contact me privately about my (S)VCD's if you want. However, I should tell you (and anyone else interested) that DVD torrents of this A&E program, as well as the BBC programme from whence it was repackaged, are both listed on the zappateers tracker. Holler at me if you need help locating the individual torrents.
Any and all Zappa fans should get aquainted with the zappateers tracker. You won't find official releases there -- not even out-of-print ones like 200 Motels -- but it's definitely the place to go for unofficial videos and concert recordings.
Originally posted by: ZigFried I'm using the official "Recobbled Cut" DVD Cover and label for of course the Recobbled Cut, because it's very well done. But now I need DVD covers and labels for:
The Workprint The Princess and the Cobbler The Arabian Knight Version
Because I'm having a VERY rough time trying to find them on Google. Originally posted by: ZigFried Ahem. I asked nicely for these...
You didn't ask anything. "I need ..." is not a question.
Originally posted by: Marvolo Seriously though, netgurucr, get for real. You donated the money, and if you didn't research the project and understand how long it might take to do the project, that is your own fault. Unless you know a way to do this project quicker, shut up.
Maybe this project would be done already if they'd bought all that software netgurucr was hawking awhile back I guess poor sales have put a pinch on netgurucr's pocketbook
I know of one sound effect that went missing in '93 but had been present in earlier home video releases both analog and digital.
Right before the Imperial walker blows up the main power station, it shoots down a speeder. That speeder's out-of-control engine sound before its crash was mysteriously removed from the '93 remix. It's heard on Digital Sound laserdiscs of the late 80's as well as analog LDs from the mid-80's.
I've always assumed Burtt couldn't resist his urge to tweak the mix when he made the first digital master in the mid-80's (like he did Threepio's tractor beam line in the first film). Maybe I'm wrong. It could be true that all pre-93 versions, both analog and digital, had the same content possibly with different EQ or dynamic range compression.
Despite some difference(s) like the speeder engine sound, all pre-SE versions (both pre/post-93) seem to line up in the "35mm" right-hand column of the list Arnie.d posted from wookieepedia. Not until SE'97 that we heard those 70mm elements for the first time in an official home video release.
I think thislaserdisc contains the Dolby Stereo mix found on 35mm prints. I've got an AC3 file (IIRC 224kbps, not synced to GOUT) if you'd like to compare. Artoo doesn't taste very good.

I'm using Audacity to look at the waveforms (Windows version running under WINE, since I don't have the required wxWidgets to compile native Linux version). Here's what I see:
DC48
DS48
As you might guess by the relative amplitudes that's the first, louder DS48 file. But the second "DS48 RL" has the same peak in the same position 0:27.798500
The difference is 0.002250 or 108 samples.
seventiesfilmnut, send a PM if you still can't get the filefactory links. They appear to be working fromt where I sit.

Belbucus has hooked us up! In this thread, see my message from 2006-10-21 01:00 GMT
I have not muxed ROTJ (although I have done a rough measurement of the delay offset.)
I have successfully muxed ESB, using a delay offset of 45,528 samples (0.9485 sec). I watched it, and didn't notice any problems. It remained synchronized through to the end.
I have successfully muxed STAR WARS with the '93 PCM (first 15 minutes only) and with the '77 Dolby Stereo (entire film). No problems with either, but the offsets were different: 48,851 samples + "DC48 DVD.wav" 48,743 samples + "DS48 DVD.wav"

No, not the same.
Paradoxically, the '85 LD doesn't contain the '85 remix. The '85 LD (Cat# 1130-84) contains the original '77 Dolby Stereo mix. The '85 VHS was the first to use the new remix, also found on your '89 LD w/ shrinking ratio.
