The Last Jedi : a Fan Edit Ideas thread
Time

I’ve been mulling over how to make Luke’s death less sudden and stupid.
It might be kind of corny but I here’s how I see it playing out:

-Luke comes back from his astral projection thing exhausted. He looks over and sees the ghosts of Yoda, Ben, Anakin. He closes his eyes and vanishes.

It’s a little thing, but I think him looking toward all his deceased mentors as they silently reassure him that he has done what he needs to in this life before he accepts himself into the force would add a lot to the otherwise random death scene.

I would also rotoscope him off the island and have him sitting at the abandoned Lars homestead actually looking into the twin suns instead of just imagining it, his battered x wing in the background (a set up that was never payed off in the movie was showing his x wing in the water).

This is a minor thing, and really more of a TFA edit than a TLJ edit. But I’d end TFA on the wide shot of the resistance waiving goodbye to Rey as she flies away.

Then TLJ begins with Rey arriving at the island. This would allow for more of a time gap between the movies that we’re used to with Star Wars. The amount of time it took for her to get to the island would be ambiguous.

The Last Jedi: Official Review and Opinions Thread ** SPOILERS **
Time

Just got around to seeing it today. I’ll save an in depth review/analysis for after I’ve seen it another time or two, but count me in the group of those pretty disappointed in it. Which honestly makes me sad because I expected to enjoy it greatly and loved TFA.

This I believe was the longest SW film to date, and it really shouldn’t have been. There’s a lot I would’ve cut. (Most of the third act I would have cut altogether or saved for IX).

I said a while ago that the Blu_ray/ DVD versions won’t be available until mid next year at the earliest

Thanks, I obviously completely missed that!

Why waiting that long by the way ? I understand that making a full bluray with menu and features takes time, but if the fanedit already exists in high quality I fail to understand why a mkv of the ucompressed version of the edit is postoned to next summer.

The mkv is already out there. I’m not sure what you are referring to here

I think he’s requesting a second MKV be released that matches the bit rate you plan to use on the Bluray.

Otherwise, he’s requesting what we’re all secretly craving, a lossless 10-bit x265 encoded mkv that is an exact representation of what’s on your computer as a finished project, complete with the audio in LPCM. Then everyone can customize/reencode the file on their computer on their own time to fit their target device or media.

I think he is a she, and if you think I’m gonna complete that ROTS quote,

Actually, it’s an AOTC quote.

Exactly.

I’m pretty sure this is the moment for that signal Obi-Wan does stroking his mustache.

An example of actual decent comedy in the prequels.

And of course that’s the one they cut.

I thought the comedy in that scene was terrible, but much like 99% of the attempted comedy in the prequels

Can we please not bring the Prequels up again just to criticize them for the billionth time?

I’m pretty sure i can discuss what the hell i want (inside of the forums rules of course) and have my own opinions on those crap films, in my own damn thread. This isn’t the “you can only discuss what Editroid wants to hear” thread

But hey, speaking of the prequels, what a piece of garbage they were, right?

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION

I hope the shot of the speeder zooming past the camera in the beginning of the mos eisley sequence will mimic the original version more than the SE. If you’re watching it frame by frame the SE looks better, but actually in context of the film and in motion I think the original looks better simply because it zooms fast so quick you don’t realize how fake it looks whereas in the SE it has awkward motion and takes long e enough to notice.

I would suggest Ady redo the shot completely. Both existing versions look very dated.

JEDIT: Also, in one of Mike Verta’s legacy videos he pointed out that in the shot following the Jedi mind trick scene, they chopped off the bottom of the landspeeder for the SE and I haven’t been able to unsee that since, if something could be done about that, while still having it updated from the orange blob under the speeder original, that’d be awesome

Here comes back the ridiculous notion that the originals weren’t in high definition in the theaters lmao

I didn’t know how dumb a person could be until the first time I got that comment
"He released the originals back in 2006 on DVD. They weren’t in HD back in the 70s, so by making them HD, Harmy is changing them!"

I don’t think I ever legitimately face palmed prior to that.

STAR WARS: EP VI -RETURN OF THE JEDI "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - ** PRODUCTION HAS NOW RESTARTED **
Time

I don’t have a picture of this right now, but after Vader throws the emperor down the shaft, it’s pretty obvious his hand is underneath his too-long sleeve. You can even see his wrist is bent. It’s a small thing, but one that bugs me every time I watch the movie.
