I haven’t given it too much thought as my focus is really on ANH right now. But for Empire, unless Harmy comes out with a Re-Specialized before I get to it, I’ll either use Adywan’s recreation or create my own recreation by stitching together Despecialized and the Blu-Ray. As for ROTJ, I’m really not sure what my options are tbh since I haven’t really seen any 97 ROTJ preservations aside from a couple laserdisc captures here and there. I will probably have to create my own for that one if I want any kind of high quality, again stitching together despecialized and Blu. But again, that’s only if Harmy hasn’t done a respecialized by that time.
I won’t be including specs on the covers themselves, but I may create an insert for the case with chapters and technical specs.
I used Adobe Encore to do the DVD/Bluray authoring. As far as I know, it’s one of the few disc authoring programs still out there…and they discontinued it after the CS6 release.
Oh wow. That’s actually the same program I use. The quality of your work actually made me think it was professional software though. Much respect.
Speaking of the Blu Ray covers, I’ve done a bit of work on ANH. The first is the same as the last one posted, just with updated version names, but I also created a variant version with classic poster art.
They will be standard blu Ray cases.
When the time comes, I’ll order my case, size the cover accordingly, and then provide a link to the exact case I used in case anybody wants to know.

Presumably he’d share them via a torrent that would include all of his art, ready to be printed. You’d then have to burn the discs yourself, as well as print out the Blu-Ray slip covers (and disc labels, if he makes them).

v3.0 will definitelly be 1080p.
Possibly - I’m actually considering doing multiple color-versions for v3.0 - an I.B. Tech version, which would keep the colors similar to v2.5 (and the I.B. scans) and a more balanced natural looking version (I’d need a more snappy name for it - maybe, since it seems like the Eastman prints were more like that, I could call it the Eastman version), so maybe I could also make a home-video version with colors closer to the most common VHS relases and the '81 crawl but I’m not making any promises 😉
I remember one of the speculated titles for Episode 7 before “The Force Awakens” was revealed was “The Ancient Fear” and remember feeling like that would make a good alternate title for Episode 1. It has a similar idea to “The Phantom Menace” but sounds much more mysterious and mirrors “A New Hope” nicely.

Holding out for Darth Lucas’s due to it including some color correction (though I’m sure that will eventually be replaced by one of the 3.0 versions). But I’d be curious to hear how this one turned out.
I do like the simplicity of the main title screen, though.
That’s actually very flattering. 😃 thank you. Just know that my color correction will be less in depth than originally planned since Harmy announced that the 1080p, color corrected 3.0 SW will be coming in the future and once it does, my blu ray will be updated with the new version, so my color correction is just going to focus on the most jarring scenes and shots, most notably tatooine.
In the meantime though, from the screenshots on myspleen, njvc’s BD looks pretty nice and I actually have had to keep myself from downloading it since I promised myself I wouldn’t watch Star Wars for pure entertainment again until I finish my version. haha.
Can I ask what software you used for the Blu-Ray/DVD authoring? I would assume it’s something above consumer level software.

@Darth Lucas: Cool… I’ll check it out. I don’t mean to step on any toes… I just hadn’t found a set with menus yet and wanted to share the ones I made for myself. My initial inclination after reading the responses is to make different images to accommodate different potential wants/needs. The only issue then becomes hosting. I’ve never done that outside of dropbox.

I’m also working on a blu Ray set in encore (the thread for which you should be able to find a ways down on this forum) using despecialized and yes, encore can handle DTS-HD and other 5.1 audio, although it can be a bit difficult and there’s certainly a process to it. Not quite drag and drop.
And if you can’t keep it in your pants, at the very least keep it to yourself and don’t get us involved.
Not only that, but shouldn’t his robes match those worn by ghost anakin at the end of ROTJ? We never once see him dressed like that in the PT to justify why his ghost has those robes.
I’m personally somebody who enjoys revisited for what it is and would love for it to fit in with the new movies.
But quite honestly, whatever Ady wants to do is fine by me. It’s his project and if I really have an issue with something he’s done, I can edit it out to have my personal version.
It’s the principle. Nobody here condones piracy and yes I believe what we do here is better because we at least ask you to have bought the source material. Maybe some people don’t listen, but we have to be the example.
Nothing we do here should be with the intent of losing the copyright holders money. It’s because of our respect for the copyright holders that we have been more or less left alone.

I don’t think anyone’s making assumptions about his life, just educated guesses on his opinion based on what he’s said and things we’ve seen. I’m sure all of us would love for Mike to clear some things up himself.
I do feel bad for Lucas for the flack he gets from the prequels. Look, I hate the prequels as much as anyone, but Lucas just made some bad movies and people act like he purposefully messed them up just to make them angry. He was experimenting. He was trying to make good movies based on ideas he was passionate about. He took risks. They didn’t always pan out but I really do commend the guy for not just doing what people wanted him to and actually trying something different.
People crucify the guy just cuz he made some bad movies. I would be hurt too if people treated me the way people treat him just because they didn’t like something I made.
There are definitely things he deserves to be criticized for, like refusing to restore and release the oot, but some people take it ridiculously far and act like he’s the devil. I sincerely doubt he made bad movies on purpose just to upset people. Most people don’t set out to make a bad product.
