I do agree that summer 2017 would be nearly the perfect time to do some kind of theatrical release of the OOT.

I think before/alongside Rogue One would be the perfect time. A re-release won’t steal any of RO’s thunder, but it could perhaps draw some skeptical older fans into the theaters. In particular, a RO/STAR WARS marathon could be awesome.

The problem with that is that they would have had to be working on a restoration for some time now in order to have it ready on time, which is certainly a possibility. But if they decide to use mike vertas restoration, they still could, but it means they’d probably pair it with subpar restorations of empire and Jedi. I doubt they’d release SW in any way other than alongside the rest of the trilogy. Unless they’re planning to do one a year.

Well the only difficult part with a mac is making an ISO out of it, then it’s just a matter of burning through disc utility.

I just recently had the unfortunate realization that the bluray drive I bought around december is actually only a bluray READER and can only burn DVDs. Whoops. So I’m now on the search for a comparable-priced mac compatible bluray BURNER. Always read the fine print guys.

Can’t speak to the “comparable price” bit because I’m not sure what you spent in the first place, but this guy here’s been treating me fine since September: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-External-Blu-ray-SE-506CB-RSBD/dp/B00JJGFRIQ/ref=sr_1_3?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1458761257&sr=1-3&keywords=external+blu+ray+writer

That’s the main one I’ve been considering. Nice to know there’s some endorsement 😉

I think if they were to release the OOT, it would be in some kind of double disc set with one disc for the original version and another disc for the 2011 version, which I’m ok with. Somehow I doubt they will release the OOT completely on its own though. I just wish lucasfilm would put out some kind of collector set with every version, but I know that probably won’t happen unfortunately, which is why I’m creating my own haha.

I do agree that summer 2017 would be nearly the perfect time to do some kind of theatrical release of the OOT. The only thing that makes me think they may not do it is that they have through Marvel, Guardians of the Galaxy 2 coming out in May and Spider Man coming in July. I think they would be hesitant to release another major film in late May, even if it is a re-release of sorts, as they would not want to be competing with themselves like that. Even if they don’t do a theatrical run of it, I don’t think that will interfere with them doing a bluray release.

How could I have had a VHS without "A New Hope" in the crawl as a kid?
Time

Entirely possible you saw a bootleg. Did it have cover art? If so what did it look like?

It could also be your mind doing revisionist history on itself, happens to me all the time where I could have sworn I saw something one way or that something happened a certain way but then I look back at the thing in question and it turns out I was completely wrong.

That’s a good question! Clearly there’s still a VHS duplication setup out there somewhere, or the airline tape wouldn’t exist. There could still be a warehouse full of blanks out there somewhere.

Who was still making audio cassettes in 2014 for that matter?

Come to think of it, I remember reading last year that Sony had finally ended production of blank Betamax tapes. Blank VHS aren’t hard to come by to this day. There must still be lines open, probably manufactured in waves and put in warehouses and not made again until they need more like various industries do for spare parts. If this is true, then a major VHS release would only mean opening the lines for an extended period to fill temporarily high demand.

They still sell blank VHS tapes at my local target. There’s like two whole shelves dedicated to them in different sizes and brands.

So I was re watching ROTJ, and I had a thought. Perhaps in Revisited, Adywan should make the last shot of the three ghosts (the second to last shot in the film currently) the last shot of the film. The “family photo” shot is so cheesy, and I can’t think of any in universe reason why they might be posing like that.

I’ve always thought of doing it somewhat like this is I ever made a ROTJ edit. End on that shot, but have it so they dissipate and their “spirits” rise up to the stars with a pan up, as if they are finally at peace and can truly become one with the force. It would be a nice way to show why they don’t appear in the ST if that is the case.

Another idea, which I am kind of iffy if it would work, is that as they are dissipating, both Anakin and Obi-Wan transform into their younger selves (hayden and ewan) briefly before disappearing entirely. Nice way (I think) to tie the trilogies together without raising a crap ton of questions like the SE did adding Hayden throughout the shot and doing nothing with Ben. But again, kind of iffy on that, it’s a cool concept I came up with, but something about it feels inherently wrong and i’m not quite sure if it would work in practice.

So a little while ago, in the radical redux ideas thread I suggested that you could lower the pitch of Anakin’s voice in order to make him sound better, I tried it out for myself in one of the worst one of the scenes in AOTC. I think it improved the scene quite a bit, otherwise I left the scene unedited, I only changed Anakin’s voice. Here it is (note that this scene won’t even be in my edit but I thought this was the best example of how much better it sounds): https://vimeo.com/159893770

The United States is declared a Christian Nation.

EDIT: If I remember correctly, that is.

“The United States is not a Christian nation any more than it is a Jewish or a Mohameddan nation” -John Adams

“The government of the United States is not in any sense, founded on the Christian religion. The United States of American should have a foundation free from the influence of clergy” - George Washington

“Religion and government will both exist in greater purity the less they are mixed together” -James Madison

“Christianity is the most perverted system that ever shown on man” -Thomas Jefferson

“Lighthouses are more useful than churches” -Benjamin Franklin

It is of important note that “Under God” in the pledge of allegience as well as “in god we trust” on the money were added in the mid 1950’s as propaganda against “godless communism”
The original pledge of allegiance, as written in 1892 goes like this:

“I pledge allegiance to my flag and the republic for which it stands: one nation indivisible with liberty and justice for all”

Star Wars Trilogy SE bluray color regrade (a WIP)
Time

I wasn’t talking about your last shots. I actually think those are very close. More just in general as some of the corrections I’ve seen from you and others recently are I think a bit too blue to the point where you’re losing the look of tarkin’s uniform. A couple have been so vibrant blue that it actually distracts from the focus of the shot, which is Tarkin.

My last correction I posted was from your shot, just adjusting the curves until tarkin’s uniform looked right. No change in saturation adjustments. And you can see adjusting for the look of his uniform brings the walls to a more subtle blue.

This is just my thinking and speculation based on how the image tends to look when adjusting for things like skintone and costume colors.

But… You know me, I couldn’t resist working from it to try and bring it closer to what I think is accurate. I made his skin a bit too yellow I think, but the uniform and walls are better, albeit a little splotchy.

EDIT: I think it’s important to clarify one of Mike Verta’s points. Saying the walls are BIASED TOWARD blue, does not mean the walls are vibrant, saturated blue. I think what he’s saying is that the walls look more blue than any other color. They should read as grey, with subtle blue undertones, rather than jumping out at you as BLUE.
