In what way I should watch a Star Wars Marathon?
Time

PT is not a crap story. PT is a very good story with crappy execution.

I will say that from a conceptual point of view, TPM has a better story than TFA. What makes TFA the better movie, however, is its execution. Better dialogue, natural humor, actual character development, attention to detail.

TPM could have been a fantastic movie by something as simple as rewriting the dialogue and putting less emphasis on the confusing trade dispute idea. The story concept is a very simple, good one to start off the saga. A peaceful planet is invaded and a band of heroes need to work together to free the queen’s people. Sounds very star warsy when you just hear that. It’s all in the execution.

Also are there any plans to include The Holiday Special on any releases just for historical purposes? 😃

The holiday special will be on the bonus disc of my bluray, so if you prefer njvc’s disc for the main movie (which I will admit looks better than mine) but want more special features, I’m sure you could mix and match :p

MKVToolNix can help you with cutting down the DTS tracks. Drop in an MKV file with just the audio you want to cut mixed in, split the file based on frames you want to cut in the “Output” tab, then drop the first portion of the film you chopped up in a new window and append the second portion of the film that you to that file and voilà. No encoding required.

Oh wow thank you. That actually seems remarkably easy.

Does anyone have the same problem as me?
Time

My great grandmother actually recently died from a long battle with Alzheimer’s. It’s an incredibly difficult thing to watch someone slowly lose their mind. Saddest point was when she could no longer remember who me, my siblings, or my parents were. She would freak out any time we entered the room because she thought a bunch of strangers had broken in.

It’s hard, and the only advice I can really give is to do anything you can to be patient and understanding. I know it is frustrating and she may be annoying to deal with at times, but push through it and try and enjoy the time you have with her. My one regret with my grandmother is I started avoiding her, and I wish I had spent more time with her while she still saw me as her grandson.

With the anxiety some of the advice given to Mike O by Darth Ender etc overlaps with your situation. Make sure that the Doctors treating your skin also know about your anxiety. For one reason, while totally understandable under your current set if circumstances anxiety can be both a physical symptom and a side effect of medication. Also they would able to determine if a medical treatment would be available that wouldn’t clash with your current treatment. That you are starting a new job while this is going in is impressive. I would probably find it too much personally. Does your work day involve journeys back and forth where something creative like art, writing or photography could be a distraction?

Unfortunately, no. It’s a video editing job for an ad agency. Could be considered creative in and of itself, but really it amounts to me sitting in a chair for 8-10 hours mindlessly editing commercial spots.

I don’t know, man, I get what you’re saying, but someone having cancer should probably put it into better perspective than it does.

Don’t even think like that man. I’ve dealt with my fair share of mental problems that I won’t share here, I’m mostly better and it’s not important, but one of my best friends suffers from many mental disabilities, OCD being the main one and (not that cancer isn’t serious, but) OCD and other mental illnesses are in my experience much more debilitating and hard to deal with.

I understand how it feels to feel like your problems aren’t really important when compared to other people’s issues. Skin cancer, when compared to other cancers, is really not that serious and is much easier to live with and treat, so I always feel a bit of guilt putting myself in the same category as those dealing with lung cancer, or breast cancer, or something more serious.

What you need to remember though, is that even if you feel other people have it worse, that doesn’t devalue your own struggles or invalidate them. Your life is valuable and if something, anything, is getting in the way of living your life, it should be taken extremely seriously.

I’ve had an idea and I’d like some opinions on it.

I cannot accomplish seamless branching within encore, however, I’ve realized I can create the illusion of seamless branching by making the branching point right after r2, 3po, and Luke enter the homestead (I believe this is a reel change as well) where there are a few seconds of black before it fades back in to 3po in the oil bath. At that point, while there would be a slight blip in the branching, it wouldn’t be noticeable because the screen is black for a couple seconds anyways.

The benefit to doing this is that the film overall would have to be compressed less than it would with two full encodes of the movie on one disc, and thus the film visually would look better throughout. The downside is that I would likely have to use the AVCHD versions of the 5.1, 2.0, and 1.0 tracks, as I wouldn’t begin to know how to edit the native dts tracks to fit the cut down runtime of the tracks, so there would be a very slight drop in audio quality.

So my question is, would you all rather me have lower video quality by having two separate tracks for each version of the movie with higher quality audio, or higher quality video by branching at that point, but sacrificing a little bit of audio quality? Personally, I prefer video quality to audio quality, and don’t really hear a difference between the avchd tracks and the mkv tracks, but I admittedly don’t have much of an ear for audio quality.

Or hey, if anyone knows how I can make the dts audio fit the cut down tracks, all the better, but I’m oblivious to how I could do it.

Is someone still working on an improved '81 crawl that will be available to download?

Yes, I promise I will get to that as soon as is convenient, but there has been a lot of drastic, difficult change going on in my life, so I please just ask for everyone to be as patient as possible. Worst case scenario is I won’t be able to get to it until Saturday.

Again, I apologize guys.

Yeah I’ve got friends who are helping me out as much as they can.

Honestly any one of these problems on their own I would probably be handling just fine, I think it’s the fact that it’s all this crap at once that’s making it hard to handle. I suffer from insomnia and anxiety and it’s made them both worse.

And because of my long hours at my new job (which I’m currently at) plus looking for a new place to live and the inevitable hospital visits/bills, I have less time and energy to work on hobbies like those I share here, which of course takes away one of my main sources of stress relief, making anxiety even worse.

I’m sorry, I don’t mean to complain and rant about my problems, but it helps to type it all out. I’m not the best verbal communicator, especially when stressed.

I don’t usually post in this thread as I prefer to keep my personal life off of the forums as much as possible.

But I just left the doctors office and found out my skin cancer has come back in several places on my body. The last instance I had of melanoma was one small freckle-like spot on my foot. So it’s not only come back, but gotten worse.

In addition to this, I recently lost my job, then got a new one working twice as long for half the pay, and got evicted from the place I was renting, so I’m staying at my parents while I look for a new place to live.

Like I said, I don’t usually post here, but damn I’m just overwhelmed with all the shit that got thrust at me practically all at once.

I’ve had this same problem, no idea why it happens. I gave up on my editing experiments because of it. If you figure it out let me know.

edit:
though now that I think about it, I read some where that it might be either what program you use to convert file types or what file type you convert to. Are you using MP4?

I am working with AVI files, and even before I render them they’re screwing up.

I don’t really know how to help you without basically sitting right next to you and watching your process through to see where you’re going wrong.

DO NOT INVITE THIS MAN TO YOUR HOUSE

AGREED. DO NOT INVITE ME TO YOUR HOUSE.

Feel free to invite Frink though, he’s much more fun.

Are you doing every single frame? Or are u key framing one frame, then skipping ahead a few frames and adding another key frame? That’s the only way I can see it going in and out of sync like that.
But if you go through frame by frame and add a key frame for every one, there really isn’t any way I can think of that it should go in and out of sync in the way you describe.
