STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION

Just screened Star Wars last night to kinda sorta celebrate 30 years and I noticed that not only are the microphones supposed to be on the left side of the pilots' helmets, but the mic wire should also be on the left side. Any way you can further tweak the flipped Red leader shot to deal with this issue?

Thanks for spotting that one. It's been fixed and the wire is now on the correct side.

The real headset (Racal/Amplivox RA-150 Minilite) worn under the helmet can be worn on either ear.
I think the important thing is that the microphone and wire are on the same side, and consistently on the same side in all of the character's shots. If it would be easier to flip other shots of the character, then I personally think that could be a better thing to do.

Info: Anyone interested in a pan & scan transfer of the sw trilogy SE?
Time
Are we talking about a Laserdisc transfer?
Is the telecine/transfer better than for the LD version of the O-OT?

If those are the case, then I think there is one element that would be of much interest to those making preservation efforts of the O-OT: Sebastian Shaw's ghost in ROTJ at the best image quality possible. Am I right?

One thing bugs me about the trailer. Greedo blinks right when he emphasizes a word. A human would possibly widen his eyes and stare more defiantly at that right movment to emphasize the word with his eyes too. I guess a Rodian could have a problem widening his eyes more than normal, as they are so wide already, but in this shot right before the blink, his eyes get narrower so I think this could be done.

In the scene with the Death Star and the planet, I think the planet is moving too much. I think it would be better to have it stationary than to move it at all, so that we get a better feel for it being very far away, thus increasing the sense of these objects being of massive scale. Note that a moon orbiting a planet must be at an altitude several hundred times its diameter, so this would make sense.

In any case a couple of fan groups/sites are planning to have extensive daily coverage with text, photos and videos.
Maybe filming will not be permitted of the presentations and Q&A sessions. Last time, at C3, Lucasfilm filmed the most important ones and posted these videos on starwars.com some time later. I don't remember if they were HS only, .. but HS stuff tend to get out anyway.

Q: Death Star viewed from Endor
Time
If you look at pictures of the second Death Star, you will see that most of its mass is located closer to the superlaser's emitter dish. This was pointed away from Endor toward the Rebel ships at the time of the exposion.
* The explosion came from the main reactor at the center of the sphere - not from the center of mass. This means that most of the Death Star's mass (80%?) must have been hurled outwards, away from Endor.
* Because the Death Star was orbiting Endor, it is reasonable to expect that a good portion of its mass after the explosion would continue in the same orbit.
* The force of the explosion would reasonably launch debris into new orbits around Endor.
* Some debris is not moving fast enough to orbit the moon, but will eventually land after a long time after at least a quarter of a revolution over the moon. Much of this will fall on the other side of the moon from the Ewok village.
* Remaining debris pointing towards the planet will be spread evenly towards the entire hemisphere of the moon.
* Only a small portion of the total debris will fall over the location of the shield generator. This debris originates mostly from the Death Star's equator. I estimate that this remainder would be less than 5% of the station's original mass.
Remember also that the Death Star despite of its size consists mostly of empty space.

Celebration Europe

I am going, absolutely. This is an event not to be missed.
FanForce will have its annual European meet there that week also, and there will be a large Fan Party on one of the nights. The opportunity for meeting other fans from all over the world is at least as important for me as the CE event itself. I have also been wanting to visit London again anyway.

I will be in costume at least half the time, some times standing in the Rebel Legion booth.
I will remember to wear my "Darth Lars" or "Marcia Lucas Fan Club" T-shirts when not in costume.

What do you love about Star Wars?
Time
There are lots of things I love about Star Wars, but they are many and quite obvious so I'll not mention them.

One thing I have begun to apreciate first as an adult, is that the characters in the original trilogy feel like real people. Too many characters in movies and on TV these days say and move perfectly, and often without emotion.
Luke, Han and Leia are corny sometimes, and make fools of themselves, but these details add to the realism, and we get to feel for the characters.
For instance, Luke's "I care" on the Falcon in ANH after Leia has left the cockpit. The bickering between Han and Leia in ESB. Another example is that Lando's goof "That was too cloose" which was left in in ROTJ. They all contribute to what makes Star Wars great.

Will you buy the OOT again ?
Time
I would buy the OOT if it was a new transfer from film stock, in good detail quality, with good colours, in anamorphic widescreen PAL or 1080p/24 with Swedish subtitles and the 35 mm stereo soundtrack.

I would probably also buy a de-SE'd version like ocpmovie's Classic Edition if it was at least just as good. Heck, I would buy it if LFL released the Classic Edition as their own, as long as ocpmovie got paid for it.

One problem with climate change is that the best climate scientists still don't know too much about how the climate works. The fact is though, that it does change and it does change for the worse, at a much higher rate than was predicted only ten years ago. Most of us on this board are going to be affected by climate change eventually. Anybody who believes otherwise is just kidding himself.

Star Wars float in 2007 Rose Bowl Parade...
Time
I heard there were going to be three floats, but I have only seen pics of two. They are worked on by volounteers, and maybe they will let you go see them before the parade.
Here is a photo album posted on another board: http://www.southerncaliforniagarrison.com/cgi-bin/album.pl?album=Rose_Parade;page=1;photo_height=480

Maybe you have read the news on TFN or starwars.com, there are 200 members of the 501st Legion there and a smaller number of Jedi and Rebel costumers. LFL has flewn them in from all over the world. Six of them are people I know from the Nordic Garrison. They even got to meet GL himself at a dinner yesterday(?). ... Lucky Bastards ...

Let me suggest that they would be placed in the frame as if they were burned in and on by default, but you would be able to opt out if you don't want them.
With the anticipated popularity of this edit, I think there will be foreign-language edits of this one.
Perhaps you could just put the scene without subtitles somewhere on the disc as an additional title, for the benefit of future editors.

English is not my native language. Even though I don't have any problems understanding it and remember 98% of the dialogue I do prefer to have subtitles in my native language anyway. Having two subtitles in different languages looks very bad.

I Dream of Star Wars
Time
I have had lots of dreams about seeing Episode 3 the first time. Some times in a theatre, some times in an exclusive showing at a convention or similiar.
One time I dreamt about a showing of Episode 3 hosted by George Lucas himself with Ewan McGregor as guest. Before showing Ep3, he showed a film composed of deleted scenes from ANH and Episode 3, that were like in Holiday Special-quality, weird and very different from the real films. The theatre was also weird, because we were all lying on recliners. Afterwards, we bought DVD's of Ep3, but I was angry because none of the weird deleted scenes were not in it, so I couldn't use them for a fan-edit.
