Changes in 2004 DVDs
Time
I totally agree but...I am only 17 and became a Star Wars fan when I was little. First movie=ROTJ taped off tv. First toys=flea market old figures. I collected all the figures from 1995 on but stopped around Episode I. I look at TPM and AOTC as entertaining movies at the time but subpar SW films now and I could give a damn. I may not have seen the originals when they were released in theaters but I saw them before the butcherng that was the SE. I have been a fan since I can remember and have liked almost no other franchise save Indy, Star Trek:TNG and Batman. I'm a purist in my own way that wants everyone happy.

"Luke's" scream was just as bad as Greedo shooting first to me. It completely f'd up the scene and was just plain goofy. I never saw ESB:SE when it was released so when I saw it on video it was ridiculous. I mean, maybe if it was Mark Hammil's voice going "Never!!!" it would've been tolerable...What am I saying, leave them alone!!

The 2004 DVDs will be Limited Edition! No more to be produced after Dec 2004!
Time
Oh there's no question we'll be seeing more releases. Especially if a new format is released in the next couple of years (Blue-Ray or something?). When III is released on DVD, we'll have the Saga set...only $150.00 made out to Mr. Lucas. I was just thinking, how about releasing the original versions as alimited release exclusive to Fan Club members? Hmmm...

That's one side of the argument. In fact, I read that abysmal IGN review of the trilogy set and essentially the EXACT same thing you just said was there. Hmm...

Anyway, like I was saying. There are three sides in this battle:

The OT Purists:

"The originals are the real versions! SE sucks!"

The Lucas Fanboys:

"George Lucas is the artist of our time, man. These are his works of art and he can do what he wants with them..."

And of course, the Non-Alligned:

"Well, I liked the SE, some of the changes weren't that great. but I think the original versions should be released too..."

Where do you fall in?

It was just as obvious to me as if they were to change what he sounds like after Luke strikes his shoulder (now he truly sounded like a monster there). The "Arrrggh!!" was also used in that awesome Energizer Bunny commercial after his lightsaber loses power. But then again that commercial also had the original Emperor in it...good times.

Question: Why is Greedo different?
Time
They kill of hordes of Stormtroopers who could just as well be guys underneath that were drafted to the Imperial military that didn't want to but were forced into it. The Death Star could've been stocked full of these kinds of guys and the Alliance blows it all away...

Han killed a bounty hunter that was pointing a gun at his face and making threats against him. He knew there was only one way out of the cantina: through Greedo. If he didn't act first, Greedo would've. That's how it use to be anyway.

TV Broadcast question
Time
I seem to remember Sci-Fi use to play the original versions of the films a long time ago (perhaps even in Widescreen?). My question is whether or not they can play this in the future...

All I've seen SW broadcast on is TBS (SE) and Fox on occasion (i.e. before AOTC opened). I'd really like to see the original versions on Sci-Fi (Hell, I'd like to see anything SW on Sci-Fi).
