The concept must at least exist, as Luke mentions it.

                              *THREEPIO
Is there anything I might do to help?

Luke glances at the battered robot. A bit of his anger drains
and a tiny smile creeps across his face.

                                 LUKE
Well, not unless you can alter time,
speed up the harvest, or teleport me
                     off this rock!*

I’ve always taken that as proof that those things don’t exist in the SW galaxy. Luke said it jokingly, knowing it was impossible. The concept of those things exists, but in a sci-fi/fantasy way. That’s my reading/canon anyway.

Yes, but IIRC, Threepio’s answer in the novel implies the technology does exist, or at least the study of it…

I’d imagine if the tech existed, Threepio would have at least elementary knowledge of it.

…and he’d SAY he was an expert on it!

Hmmm…

Matte painting and model don’t match because it’s a different trench.

…or…

Matte painting and model don’t match because it’s a movie.

By the way… It’s crazy to think that nearly everybody still thinks that the YT-1300 freighter that we first see in this shot:

…is the Millennium Falcon.

In fact if you watch that scene again you’ll notice that it is never referred to as such in the actual scene. A shoot out occurs where Han kills some Stormtroopers and then we see a long shot of a different YT-1300 freighter leaving Mos Eisley in this shot:

How do we know this? Because the unnamed ship in the hangar does not have the distinctive radar dish that we see in all other shots of the Falcon. I bet you never noticed it before but it’s as clear as day. Obviously Han and co did a quick switch of ships to put the Imperials off the scent.

This here? This here’s damn near the perfect post respectin’ this p’ticular topic.

Anime talk

Okay so putting those shenanigans behind us, since the thread is bumped, I’m going to point out that One-Punch Man is

Fucking Awesome

and lives up to the hype. One of very few long-form series that manages to build all the way through to an actual climax that pays off. And holy shit does this one pay off.
And the blu-rays have English subtitles, so it’s totally importable.

Someone talked to someone who said something about someone…

I am sure there are Trump’s supporters who masturbate to anime, but no doubt there are many more of them who supported Hillary.

So…more Chump supporters support Hillary than beat it to anime? Can I get a WUT WUT???

And he should learn how to pronounce anime. The sound is a as in father.

Oh, and anyone who says “AH-nee-may” is hereby sentenced to…well…
being someone who says “AH-nee-may”.

I thought the ktch noise was the other trooper initializing his radio.

Yeah, that was the other possibility but the timing makes me lean toward it being the helmet impact. Sounds just like their armor as well.

Not a chance. Nobody noticed it, and if they did, they hoped the audience wouldn’t because they’d be focused on Threepy. So it just snuck into the film as an Easter egg.

Yeah, I can’t watch the movie without that line in it. It’s my favorite gag in the film.

It, along with the stormtrooper bashing his head off the door only to later have the sound effect added.

Did they really do this?

I remember the first time I noticed that guy smack his helmed forehead, probably on approx. my 75th viewing of the film.
Ever since, I can’t see anything else.
God that actor musta felt like an asshole. It probably really hurt—he hits that shit pretty hard!

A friend of mine is going through regular physical therapy on her knee and over text messages she always abbreviates it PT. So when she texts me and says she’s not looking forward to PT I always have to resist the urge to say “yeah the OT is much better” because apparently “the first five times were enough”. Women, amirite

That would be (unintentionally?) appropriate, since OT would seem to stand for “Occupational Therapy” in that context, which just happens to be used frequently in tandem with “PT”.
