Very true.

The problem is that there's not much to talk about Star Wars wise. I mean, the cartoon is okay at best.

Yeah, DP will get his hands on all the BluRay stuff early - especially the deleted scenes.

The problem is Lucas. Start the damn live-action series already!

Think about it. A season of the series will easily surpass all six movies combined in terms of length (hours). That's a lot of Star Wars.

I think a show like that (if done right) could make Star Wars fans crazy again. There would be so much every year. That's a huge difference when compared to waiting three years for yet another unsatisfying prequel movie.

Well either way I certainly hope that the boxes shown on amazon are just stand-ins. That's some seriously bland packaging.

The slick move would be to do two different packages.

Have one shaped like Yoda's head to represent Jedi, and then one like Vader's helmet to represent the Sith.

The gushers will almost certainly buy two sets of the same DVDs just to get the unique packaging.

As much as I hate the idea of plunking down $120 for the SE yet AGAIN, I wouldn't even give it a second thought if it had the whole workprint. Deleted scenes, no, those will just go on Youtube. Stuff like a whole workprint is how they have to win over OOT'ers.

I couldn't have said it better, zombie84. This has been a dream of mine ever since I read the article on it in Star Wars Insider.

When Blade Runner came out on BluRay, I remember saying to myself that this was the way to do Star Wars. Sadly, it will never be.

I'm willing to bet that many of the problems with the 2004 DVD set will still be present. For starters, the bad audio, Vader's saber in ESB and ROTJ, and even some of the boxes that still appear around certain ships. I have my doubts that they'll be fixed.

The "Dr. Gonzo" Trilogy DVD Info and Feedback Thread (Released)

JJFlash_IT,

If your seriously willing to seed those four big torrents a while, it would probably be good idea to post where those torrent files are available for download (The Pirate Bay, mininova, etc.) because those files have been inactive for some time.

Don't post the actual torrent files though. I wouldn't want you to get in trouble.

People can do the work for themselves once they know where to go.

I get asked about the Dr. Gonzo set a lot. Once the word is out that there are active torrents for the films and supplemental disc, well, you should have plenty of leechers jumping in. The more leechers will mean more seeders soon enough. Once that happens, you will be able to stop seeding. The fact that you brought a very famous fan work back to life online is work enough.

Wan't there a fourth disc in the Dr. Gonzo set, a disc of extras?

I've got to go through some stuff to see if I still have these anywhere.

If I do, I'll try and upload torrents. If not, I'll ask around a few places and see if I can find anyone with all the discs if they might be willing.

You really should torrent it, JediTray.

Considering that it looks like we'll be getting nothing with the BluRay release, a chance for more people to have Dr. Gonzo's amazing set would at least be something positive.

You could go the private route with MySpleen or Demonoid, but an up to something more public like The Pirate Bay or Mininova, and I'd bet the torrent would last (seed) for years.

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW

I have to disagree.

Movies are supposed to be about show, not tell. The work has already been done.

It's a quick snippet.

It gets the info across.

It doesn't affect the film is any negative way like keeping the whole scene would.

Personally, I can't see any downside in keeping it.

well, I don't have a dual disc burner, i was relying on my friend to do it. we downloaded the files via the torrent on demonoid. he said everytime he tried burning them to disc, he got errors while burning (on a pc)

for the heck of it, i took the files and tried burning them to a regular disc on my mac at work. i "opened" the rar file and got the corrected TS files. then i dragged both the original TS file and the corrected on into toast to burn the dvd.

Well you should have got an .ISO file when downloading. You say that you tried burning the files when in fact you should have just burned the .ISO. When you say you opened the "rar" i take it you meant the "ISO". Never unpack and iso file using winrar or other unzipping program. This caused problems with the disc when someone uploaded the unpacked folders to Demonoid and used winrar to unpack them. It caused me a huge nightmare trying to fix their mistake, especially with people contacting me saying i'd created a crap DVD that didn't work. If the one you got off demonoid is the unpacked version with the Audio_TS & Video_ts folders then just scrap that and head over to fanedit.info to download the correct ISO file from rapidshare . You can download both the single and dual layer versions from there.

Ady,

I got your ANH:R dual-layer ISO off of Rapidshare and it was compressed into rar files. Around 80 of them if I recall. I believe all of the Rapidshare files of your DVD-9 on the web are compressed zip files.

They would need to be unzipped in order to get the actual ISO, would they not? Or are you talking about opening the ISO with some other program?

On another note...

While I don't have a problem with threads like these, and as I am more than willing to admit that I have often thought of re-writing the prequels to fulfill some sort of self-satisfaction, I still must admit that I can see that Lucas never really had a chance at winning with the prequels.

You see, STAR WARS had become such a pop culture phenomenon that we all think of it as ours, and on some level, I think each of us believes we know exactly what is best for it.

Trust me, I'm not Lucas apologist. I've gone from what could be described as affection when I was a child to what can be fairly described as loathing as an adult. Throw into that the undeniable fact that I am no lover of the PT. However, when something is this popular, and everybody sees it each in their own way, well, anything that is done, any idea that comes to fruition, any choice that is made is going to be the subject of intense, somewhat unreasonable, and yes, maybe even unfair criticism.

I went all through this going all the way back to pre-TPM. What started out as anti-Jar Jar, a distaste for the midichlorian explanation for Force sensitivity, or ripping on the acting performances has now turned into using different planets as central locations, removing whole characters, changing villains and even major plot points.

And now, well, it seems we have problems with who fights and what color lightsaber they use.

I have to ask, where does it end?

Mr. Lucas, I may just be welling up a touch of sympathy for you.

Yeah, but Vader's just sick of being the Emperor's puppet - he's power-hungry at this point and wants to rule on his own, not be the underling of someone he knows will never relinquish power. He knows, however, that he's not powerful enough on his own to stop the Emperor - but with Luke at his side, they may win. It has nothing to do with the "rule of two.

Yeah that's true, you can see it that way or (now that we know the PT "rule of two" ) that Vader is also trying to "save his skin" by turning Luke into his own apprentice before the Emperor does. I know that is probably not what Lucas had in mind when he shoot that scene in ESB, but now that we have to deal with the prequels I just try to find ways to live with them ;)

I disagree with this completely. Only when Episode III came along did Lucas start diminishing Vader's power. He went on to push this in that awful Rolling Stone interview.

If you remember ESB, it is Vader who comes up with the idea of turning Luke, not Palpatine. Palpatine simply wants Luke dead.

So I don't think Vader was trying to save his own skin.

Also, I believe that Vader was a true Sith and accepted that his Master would die one day and he would have all that he had. His obligation would be to train an apprentice to keep the line going.

It is only when Luke is discovered that Vader sees that it may be his destiny to take over the galaxy as Emperor and have his son as his apprentice.

Luke's very existence makes Vader question some of his past decisions. Since he doesn't know about Leia, Vader believes Luke is all he has left of Padme, of the Jedi... of that life long gone.

By ROTJ, after Luke refuses his offer, Vader slinks back to Palpatine, to the only life he knows and sits there regretful, filled with self-loathing, and afraid that the Emperor will murder his son because he knows his son will not play ball.

hey guys, just my idea for revisited saga, this is just an old design, some of its changed now, also done ESB and ROTJ too. workin on PT next :)

There are more text and stuff on now. In other words the pic arent so empty on the left hand side. Trying to think of a design for the PT is quite hard. I love this design because its big black and powerful and just eye catching.

Wow. This is really great. Simple. Elegant.

Did you ever do a Hi-Res of the cover, DuTwan?

In fact, instead of showing the exact same footage of the beam building up in the chamber (with operators shielding their eyes), I'd remove that and just show Tarkin and then the explosion as before (with the beams animating into position before it blows... subtle, without a complete repeat of the previous footage).

I love this idea, Kurgan.

Kurgan said:

Of course I'd really love to see someone restore the deleted ANH footage and come up with a cut that has the option to play the movie with those scenes interspersed back into the cut.

I don't know if they could be cleaned up enough not to drastically stand out though. Personally, I'd just love to have all of the available deleted scenes as simple extras.

The ANH:SE Redux Ideas thread (Radical Ideas Welcome).

I can't put into words how impressed I was with Adywan's work.

If I had to nitpick, I can think of just a couple of things:

1. I would love to have that last image of Tarkin just before the Death Star blows up. We all know Ady needed to remove it in order to add his Death Star as it begins to fire, however, I still miss it.

2. The torture droid needle. I know people complain about it looking like a little lightsaber, but I think the overall change outweighs the drawback. My solution? Keep what is there, but remove the blue hue. Simply make it look like the core color of a lightsaber (ie bright white).

In fact, can someone do up a still of that? A picture speaks a thousand words. If that were done, you'd get the futuristic sci-fi look to the scene without people complaining that it looks like a mini-lightsaber. Let's face it, it doesn't exactly work as a simple syringe either.

3. A change in dialogue. One of the things that most impressed me was Ady's work on the duel. I can't believe how much better it is. But the one thing I didn't like was a reversal in dialogue.

In the original, Vader tells Obi-Wan, "Your powers are weak, old man." Later, he tells Obi-Wan, "You should not have come back." For some reason, Ady reversed these lines. Personally, I always loved the"you should not have come back" line being the last thing Vader ever says to Kenobi in life. The change kind of threw me, but it is no big deal.

4. All of the smudges (fingerprints!) and startches/scuffs on Vader's helmet fixed. His armor is so much better in ESB and ROTJ. I just tell myself that Vader would replace his older armor with newer armor from time to time.

That's all I can think of. Everything else is great.

I think the best thing I can say about Adywan's ANH Revisited is that it is Episode IV to me now. I'll watch it at least 10 times for every time I watch the old OT and 20 times for every time I watch my 2004 SE DVD set.

I think that's the best compliment I can give.

Was watching ESB today, and something jumped out at me (which I don't think has been mentioned before). It concerns the scene where Luke is hand-standing and levitating nearby objects, and eventually levitates R2.

What struck me as clumsy was that, in the shot where we get a close-up of R2 being lifted off the ground, once he ascends he then just suddenly stops in mid-air unconvincingly, as if he was on a lift/elevator that reached its topmost level. What I was thinking could help with the believability of this shot, was if R2 could 'dip' a little bit in the air after he is lifted up, to make it look as if he's actually floating and is not just on some platform or supported by something else.

Pedantic, I know. It's funny some of the things that catch your attention in films, though.

Excellent spot, topdawg193.

Definitely something that should be fixed. I hope Ady sees your post.
