I agree.
They really are amazing.
Does anybody know if there was disc art that went with these DVD covers from RowMan's Ultimate Supplemental Collection?
Thanks.
Jambe,
Any fix for your DVD cover and disc art yet?

has it been considered before about star wars having its own catergory on the spleen, old and new uploads would be better organised
This is a very good idea.
There are some older Star Wars related torrents that are alive/seeded that probably aren't being seen just due to age.
Star Wars Droids: The Adventures of R2-D2 and C-3PO is one. The Holiday Special is another.
RowMan's Ultimate Supplemental 4 Disc Set would be a boon to all the new members who never grabbed it off of alt.binaries.starwars. However, I believe only one of the discs is still being seeded. I'm just spitballing some examples.
If a file is good-sized (a few Gigs), it is a lot harder to get when there is a seeder or two and few (or even no) leechers. I'm sure more people would want such things if they knew that they were there. We're talking some very cool Star Wars fan-edit and fan preservation projects.
Better organization is the key.

You acknowledge that Vader is merely a manifestation of Luke's mind, so why can't the "structure" around him be a part of this manifestation, as well? I mean, that's how I've always thought of it. You say that it should be just a cave, nothing more, and I agree completely! The difference, though, is that I think it IS just a cave--a cave that's strong with the dark side of the Force. Given the negative energy swirling within it, maybe its appearance changes depending on who enters it. Think of boggarts from Harry Potter--it's the same general concept.
I hear ya, CA. It could be a part of that. But if I were to do that, I'd show it to the audience. I'd show the cave transform. Have it change right around Luke. After that, I'd show the fog start to appear and... well, you know the rest.
But I can understand the other points of view. Seeing some sort of structure there without an explanation appeals to the imagination of what it might have been.

He takes fear and doubt into the cave and it shows him the object and the consequences of his fear.
Excellent.

That's totally wrong. At no point is it said that Luke is in control of what he "takes with him" into the cave.
You mean other than the very symbolic part where Yoda tells him he won't need his weapons and he chooses to take them in, right? Yeah, you can say that Luke's choosing the weapons betrays the unconscious, the desires and emotions he can't control, but I think the more valid (within the philosophy of Star Wars, of course) view is that by choosing the weapons he also chooses the attitudes revealed by content of the vision.
Exactly.

I agree with Captain Antilles and add to that...

Luke is surprised/shocked to see Vader, but we all know he shouldn' be since he saw exactly what he wanted to see. Making it look more in line with what I would would call a "dream-like" sequence would have been a better choice...
That's totally wrong. At no point is it said that Luke is in control of what he "takes with him" into the cave. I think you're missing the very point of what the cave test is for. It manifests the subconscious, it's not a Holodeck.
Are you serious?
"That place... is strong with the dark side of the Force. A domain of evil it is... and you must go." - Yoda
"What's in there?" - Luke
"Only what you take with you." - Yoda
Luke wants to fight Vader. He wants revenge for what he believes to be the murder of his father. It doesn't matter what Yoda has said up to that point, Luke is about revenge.
He may not be entirely conscious of his feelings, but he wanted to see Vader in there.
That's what he wanted.
That's what he made happen.
That's what he got.
As soon as I saw that he created this thread I sensed that this would not end well.

It's on the internet already, in a pretty decent capture.
A fan made custom DVD with Menu? Chapters?
It's not the one on tehparadox, is it?
But do you like that it appears to be some structure with an archway, or would you have preferred it to be simply a cave?
See, I think the look of it raised the questions. If it was just a cave, well, I doubt it would've gotten to the point where the EU got involved in order for there to be some explanation given...no matter how awful.
To tell the truth, I never liked the look of "the cave" in ESB. I didn't like that it looked like some sort of hidden or long buried structure. It should have just been a cave, nothing more.
I see Luke coming into the cave and then being met by fog. After a few moments, Vader appears out of the fog.
That's how I would've done it if I was the director. Vader is merely a manifestation of Luke's mind since obviously he is not there. Luke is surprised/shocked to see Vader, but we all know he shouldn' be since he saw exactly what he wanted to see. Making it look more in line with what I would would call a "dream-like" sequence would have been a better choice for Lucas/Kersh in my opinion.
Also, I find it strange that people who don’t like the midi-chlorian thing always seem to want an explanation as to why “that place is strong with the dark side of the Force." Who cares? I know that in my life I’ve been in places and even whole cities that have given me a weird, even downright cold vibe. I don’t find myself asking for an explanation.

That History Channel special was likely "Star Wars: The Legacy Revealed."

I've got to admit that I was surprised that none here did a fan project preserving the History Channel special Star Wars: The Legacy Revealed since Lucas won't let the History Channel sell the special on DVD in their online store or anywhere else for that matter.

Do not alter the film or its aesthetic. Just restore it.
Removing grain and fixing matte lines is altering the aesthetic of the film and fixing matte lines is altering both the aesthetic and content of the film. Dirt and scratches are instances of foreign objects attaching themselves to the film and damage to the film, and therefore should be removed.
The three original audio soundtracks of 1977 should be included, as they are all equally unique and as much a part of the film as it's original image is.
That's all I would want. No DNR, no updates of the special effects, no new mixes, no nothing. Just a classical restoration.
Exactly. This. This is it.
This should be our mission statement.
I've never seen it stated better.
"I never doubted you for a second. Wonderful!"
It is actually a stand-alone film. Think of it as more of a homage.

What stinks is the fact that there were plans for a sequel, but..

I'm just putting the finishing touches to a slightly extended trailer. It is based upon the "final" trailer, but all the shots have been swapped with the latest versions direct from ESB:R, with the final colouring and FX work ( for most shots) plus a few extra new ones. Once it's finished i'll post a link
Yes! :dancing:

Kinda telling though that there's no documentaries specific on the PT (which is a good thing). Wish I could enter a store and say "Give me Disc 8 and 9 from this set, thank you very much!".
eBay will be our friend.
I can't believe they're giving us Anatomy of a Dewback. You can watch that on the official site.
Ha!!!
Isn't Star Wars Tech the History Channel special? LOL.
If that's the case, I'd rather have had The Legacy Revealed special even though it has...gulp...er...Nancy Pelosi.
Oops! This link appears to be broken.
Yep. This is what I'm getting after refreshing about ten times.
You'd think they'd be prepared for this otherwise why put up this kind of thing in the first place?
Clownshoes.

Leave it to Lucasfilm.
They can't even get this right.
I am sad.
Yep, I'm getting just a blank white screen over there.
Note: I have way too much time on my hands.
