The Yoda card cuts both ways, though. Luke lights up first in the cave on Dagobah, and his aggressiveness there seems to be the reason that he failed the test.

Your weapons; you will not need them.
You're right on the money.

This is the big contradiction in the OT that nobody likes to talk about.

On the one hand, it seems like Yoda doesn't want Luke to use violence to overcome the Emperor and Vader.

You can make the case that Yoda and Kenobi are just trying to keep Luke from falling to the dark side through a dependence on anger, fear and aggression, but I always thought Lucas missed a golden opportunity here.

I had an idea several years ago that played out for a long time on a couple of old Star Wars message boards where I theorized that Yoda and Kenobi were using reverse psychology to get Luke to try and reach his father through feelings of regret rather than violence.

It was based on an idea that Yoda and Kenobi knew that Anakin wasn't beyond redemption, but they simply couldn't tell that to Luke. It was something he had to learn (feel) on his own.

But it's kind of a long story that I'd rather not get into anymore.

Too many years discussing it.

This tortured logic made my head hurt, and not in a good way.
When does one's head hurt in a good way?

I have discussed this with Ady, this is indeed his justification in the change of order. I don't agree and feel that Obi-wan actually failed at his own teaching by using the Force for attack during Episode III, and that I feel he would have learned from his earlier mistake against his old apprentice.
I understand.

However, there are all kinds of ways to look at it.

He may have ignited first simply beacuse he sensed that Anakin was about to pounce on him in the blink of an eye... which he did.

It's because of the blue hue.

If Ady decides to just keep the white, it would be perfect.

No need to add any other primary color to it.

Also, I hope Ady keeps the slo motion death of Obi-Wan because it really shows the detailed work he did there. And we are going to get the audio option of a music or music-less duel.

Really can't ask for more. The best of both worlds.

Anyone ever notice that one strand of hair sticking out from Tarkin's head when the countdown for firing is at one minute?

It's at 1:52:41.

I know it makes it seem all the more real, but it is funny looking.

Tarkin missed his haircut appointment earlier that afternoon. He had a pressing engagement.

"Too busy. I'm on my way to gets me some rebels."

HI fellows,

Say, a while back I tried to download the Revisited "Purist" version, but I couldn't get it to open either. Is there someone here who wouldn't mind helping me out here with a link or something? I'd really appreciate it!

Love the Revisited DVD9 version, but would like to see the "Purist" version.

Bad news.

I set Batmatt92 up with working Rapidshare links to the Purist version.

The problem is that they got taken down some time this past weekend. It wasn't my upload.

I don't even know if he finished getting all of it in time.

This also affected me. I was downloading a big file, 70+ parts. I got over 50 of the rars only to have the files taken down this weekend.

Looks like Rapidshare may be cleaning house like all the others.

TV Shows on DVD ruined by music replacement or cuts/edits: Restoring them back to original state (a project) (Update: The Andy Griffith Show: Season 3 DONE)

Seasons 5-11 are fine...all of those episodes are intact, aside from the closing credits being altered like season 4. Sony's excuse for season 4's syndicated episodes was that the original elements weren't available, or something along those lines. Sounded like a load of crap, if you ask me, especially when Germany got the uncut episodes on their DVD set.

That is very depressing.

Syndication editing has always annoyed me. It's not like they are not making enough cash.

Nope. They have to chop up the show to throw in a few more commercials to squeeze every damn penny.

After hearing this crap about some of season four, well, I'm really looking forward to your project, noc87.

For starters, myself and a good friend of mine, Josh, have been working on one for "Married...With Children". Starting with season 3, "Love and Marriage" was removed, and replaced with generic music. So what I've done was rip the audio from the DVDs, replace the generic music with "Love and Marriage" on the intro and credits, and remux from there. Seasons 4-11 are where things get a little trickier, because of the end credits being altered to remove the song credit all together. Season 4 also has syndicated versions for 7 episodes, and the Christmas episode is split as two parts (and also loses about 2-3 minutes of footage as a result, mostly on part 2). To fill in those gaps, I'm using the German DVD for those 7 episodes, since the episodes are presented uncut (but with the same theme changes), and a VHS of It's A Bundyful Life, which Josh hooked me up with a VHS-to-DVD transfer of, for the uncut version of that episode. I still have a lot to go with this one, but it's definitely worth it in the long run.

Why did they use syndicated episodes for a DVD release?

Did they do that to any episodees for seasons 5-11?

Feeling very down about the current state of Star Wars
Time

The problem is the damage it is doing to the OOT.

You got people now trying to say that ANH is boring, ESB is overrated, and ROTJ just plain sucks.

It just goes to show that the stuff Lucas has done (and unfortunately continues to do) is now having its effect on what was once legendary.

Too many books, comics, etc. Bad timelines, storylines, etc. A cartoon that creates ridiculous continuities. I mean, how many times have Anakin and Dooku dueled now?

The way I would describe it is like a watered down drink. After awhile, you forget that there was once alcohol in there somewhere.

And now Darth Maul is coming back? My God. And the sad joke is that we all already know it is being done to hype the 3D release of TPM.

Can't just promote it and hope to sell it on its own merit. Nope.

Anyhoo, as far as ESB:R is concerned, I hope to finally finish my humongous 'Dagobah' post tomorrow to make up for my off-topicness. :) I fully expect some controversy, lol.

Its about time.. :D

But wait! isnt a bit late for suggestions? Or will it be for future projects?

-Angel

I hope that's not the case.

There are some good suggestions here...

...and some great visuals here that should be considered.

This guy here from a post of FB made some solid suggestions on some things i liked:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QcyRBQBat9k

The glows behind the smokes

The smoothed motion on R2's arm

The enhanced blasters

Blinkless leia

And the flash that turns red instead of blue is some that i would like to considered as changes for the best.

I have not compare this video to ady's previous work to know what has changed since then.

Nice to see people takes the suggestions to a whole new level :)

Very nice. Some very good ideas there.
