BEAUTIFUL WOMEN NEW RULES IN FIRST POST (NSFW) UPDATED RULES
Time
If you concentrate on her breasts, it's not a half-bad show. Beyond that, well, it gets predictable after a few episodes. Also, if I was a restless spirit trying to communicate with my loved ones one final time before crossing over and she started misquoting and paraphrasing me like she does all those other poor dead sonsabitches, I'd stick around a while longer to haunt her, just out of spite.

Star Wars DVD Covers
Time
I don't presume to speak for Rikter, but I'm guessing it's because, for whatever reason, CBS/Fox chose to use a black banner on the front of Jedi instead of gray. If the back design is such that it lets you bring a background color around from the front, which is perfectly doable with a simple text and photo-boxes layout, then carrying the background color over helps tie the whole piece together. I also think the gold searchlight logo looks a heck of a lot better on black than on gray. You just have to decide which is more important, for the individual cover to look as good as it can or for the items in the set to match each other.

What he said. I finally downloaded Imandix just over a week ago, and in my limited experience it seems easy to use and versatile. Best of all, it's FREE!

NON-Star Wars Fan Edit and Alternate DVD Covers SHOWCASE

ADM posted a link in his non-Star Wars stuff thread, but I suppose it bears repetition here. It's a YouSendIt link to a .rar archive of all four covers in JPG format at 300 dpi. It's about 15 MB.

Click me.

This link is good until Sunday afternoon or it's been downloaded 25 times, whichever comes first. If you get to the party too late, let me know and I'll repost it. Also, if anybody out there would prefer PNGs (some folks say they print better than JPGs), let me know and I'll toss them up later tonight.

If you're getting ADM's Pearl Harbor from MySpleen, mine and Rikter's covers are part of that download.

Digital transfer of TPM?
Time
Most of Ep I was shot on 35mm, but there was a little bit shot digitally. I can't remember which portions were done digitally, but it was literally two or three shots. I want to say the overhead establishing shot of the Mos Espa stadium miniature was one, but don't quote me on that. I'm pretty sure that somewhere on the DVD or possibly in that issue of Cinefex it was revealed where the digicam was used.

A Future For Futurama?
Time
I just hope it gets a real time slot. Sunday at 7 pm during NFL season = nearly automatic pre-emption by the end of the foosball game on the East Coast. After a while of the show never being on, I just considered myself lucky if I happened to catch it during the spring or summer. I know plenty of other folks who felt the same way, and that's part of why the Cartoon Network ratings and DVD sales have been so good.

I finally got the Vol. 4 DVD set for Christmas (thanks, Mom) so now my collection is complete, but I'd love to see more.

THE FAN EDIT CONTEST HAS A WINNER !!! REVIEWS IN OFF TOPIC FORUM
Time
Big thanks to ADM for getting these up in time for judging. When I've recovered from the creeping death that's been afflicting me this week, I'll finish the series of covers and refine the disc art; the concept is there but dehydration and creativity don't play well together.

I'm also considering another, even more alternative, cover that is probably best summed up by the phrase "Frank Miller's Pearl Harbor." But more on that when I actually make it.

I know it's a social commentary, and a damn good one, but my point is that you shouldn't use examples from a dark satire as evidence to support the points made in said satirical commentary piece. Would you take an argument seriously if someone said "Cops and rednecks are stupid, reporters are self-serving assholes and the only people in America worth a damn are the Navajos. If you don't believe me, just watch Natural Born Killers."?

Because a crappy sequel devalues the rest of the franchise, especially in the eyes of the unfortunates who see the shitfest before seeing the good stuff. For example, if I had managed to see "Jaws: The Revenge" before seeing the rest of the big-ass killer shark movies, I probably wouldn't have bothered with the original (which is probably one of my ten favorite movies) for several more years, based purely on the foul taste that movie left in my mouth.

Have you ever read how Brave New World describes a typical family? Well, it basically reduces each member of a family to merely the propblems and pain they cause each other.

It also describes how children from middle and upper classes are programmed to think that poor people are smelly and sub-human. It's a good book, but hardly something to be used as an exemplar for social and family dynamics.

Y'all let 7-year-olds watch ROTS?!?!!?!?!

I don't think I'd let a kid under about 9 or 10 watch RotS, and was just a little bit disturbed when I walked into Sam's Club yesterday afternoon and was greeted by Anakin in flames on the 50-inch HDTV just across from the front door. That said, I did go with my mom and sister (younger than me by exactly 3 years, 6 months, and 12 hours) to see "The Amityville Horror" in its original theatrical run in 1979. Sis turned 30 last month, you do the math. It seemed like most of the kids in my class at the time (either first or second grade, can't remember which) had seen it, too. Maybe kids in the 70s were tougher, I dunno.
