You're a troll because you posted a new thread with a misleading title instead of using the politics thread. Then again, since you're utterly incapable of discussing politics in an intelligent manner and would rather spew inane talking points that only the most immature liberals would attempt to use, you might be better off on the Daily Kos or MoveOn.org than this place. Even the liberals here have at least half a brain.

What exactly has the national rifle association done to you sweeney?

they fought every attempt at taking guns off the streets. I blame them for Columbine and VT.

Because obviously the guns became sentient, possessed their owners like demonic spirits, and sent them to the schools.

Protection is the Cops job. You want food? Go to a grocery store.

Time it takes a police car to drive to my house: Five minutes, minimum. Time it takes me to pump a couple shotgun shells into a would-be rapist or burglar: two seconds, maximum. Also--cops investigate crimes and arrest criminals. They are not required by law to offer protection.

ask England.

Talking to nonsentient things such as Islands is typically unproductive.

Wars for oil.

You're assuming we would ever go to war for oil, which is unlikely. We have plenty of oil here in North America. What we need are more refineries and more drilling permits.

Yay!!!!!!!!! Now if they could only add Bush's name to that impeachment list.

See, here's the thing: Impeachment of a president requires a little thing called a crime. Yeah. I guess the Dems forgot that part.

What do you teach your kids? How to execute people? I hear they love to do that in Texas.

Why HALO THAR, ad hominem!

Sweeny: I find it hilarious. People continue to spout the Bush is a Nazi garbage when the very fact that they can say it without the Gestapo showing up betrays the analogy as a lie.

Yeah, not yet.

Sean, please post something intelligent for a change please. For crying out loud, you think Bush is bad and yet you support paleoconcervative, Neo Nazi-funded, 9-11 Truther, Ron Paul. Priorities? What priorities?

Having spent a long time with some very bigoted Americans it's definitely a possibility in my opinion. I know you're not all like that by a long shot, but there's definitely a good number of backwards thinking morons with guns running around in that part of the World.

Well it's certainly possible. It's also possible that aliens will come and use laser beams on the white house and make the Secretary of Agriculture president. But I don't think it's possible enough to warrant worry. Obama undoubtedly has at least as much security protection as any other of the presidential candidates.

I don't recall if Yoshi's new voice was even in the GBA remake, but I can't remember it bothering me. Then again, I never hated it to begin with. The only annoying sound effect I recall from the game is Baby Mario's crying, and if you're good, you won't have to hear that very often.

And, yeah, 3PX, SMW2 is definitely a big departure, but I think the game is more than worth it for the boss battles alone. Though if that's still not enough assurance, Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga is also awesome. Great SM-RPG-style gameplay combined with a hilarious story and characters. Fawful should be in SSB Brawl. I hope he's at least an Assist Trophy.

The best part: the seven elder Koopalings are all bosses and there's no Bowser Jr. in sight.

Huh? SMW2 isn't as good as the first, but it's still a great game and well worth playing. I missed the SNES version, but when it came to GBA, it never left my system for a solid month.

Well the difference is Wind Waker is still an incredible game, while Mario Sunshine isn't. I never had a problem with the graphical styles of either*, and I'm only poking fun at Sunshine's name because C3PX brought it up. It didn't stop me from dropping fifty bucks on it back in '02. The magazines were, IMO, right to criticise Sunshine for not being so innovative. Remember, Sunshine came out the same year as the original Ratchet and Clank, so Sunshine felt dated by comparison as far as gameplay goes (I know R&C came out later, but the gaming mags had already played it at trade shows and such.) Also, Jak and Daxter came out a year earlier, so that was probably part of the reason as well.

*Okay, fine, when they first unveiled the Wind Waker look in 2001, I was a bit disappointed it wouldn't look like the Spaceworld 2000 demo, but seeing it in motion convinced me.

Really? You talked about it so much and posted so many pre-release screenshots that I simply assumed you'd already long since gotten it and beaten it. But, yeah, it doesn't disappoint, so hurry up and get it!

Hah, I would have, but I was waiting to see if anybody gave it to me for Christmas so I wouldn't end up with two copies.

They didn't.

I'm on the eight Assassin mission of Assassin's Creed, out of nine. So far, it's a fairly good game, and very pretty to look at. But Ubisoft really needed to think the design through a bit more when it comes to investigating the targets and give the NPCs some more varied dialogue. Even if you're in Arab-Controlled Damascus, Hebrew-Controlled Jerusalem, or European-controlled Acre, you'll hear NPCs you rescue say the exact same thank you lines.

And now... back to Super Mario Bros. 2 (The Lost Levels), my first download on the Virtual Console!

Wow, so when you say Super Mario Bros. 2 (The Lost Levels) I take that to mean they released to virtual console the original Japanese version of Super Mario Bros. 2 that was never released in North America other than as part of Super Mario All Stars as The Lost Levels. It has the old Famicom/NES graphics and not the 16bit SMAS graphics right? That is really cool. I wouldn't have imagined Luigi's jump to have been different back then, I thougt the only time his jump and traction were changed was in the North America version of Super Mario Bros. 2. Dave said they were different in Super Mario World too, out of all my years playing that game I really never noticed any difference between Mario and Luigi other than in their appearance. That is interesting.

Yeah, that's exactly what I meant. I put that in parentheses just so people wouldn't get confused. But it's sold on the Wii Shop (as SMB:TLL, although no graphical changes are in the game so it says Super Mario Bros. 2 on the title screen) for 600 Wii points. I'm not sure about this Super Mario World thing, though. I think maybe Dayv is thinking about the American SMB2 because they really don't have any differences in any game where Luigi is player 2. Except in the All-Stars release that contains Mario World, even the sprite is exactly the same.

Dayv might be thinking of the Game Boy Advance port of Super Mario World, where Luigi's sprite and abilities are closer to the American SMB2 version.

It's a 52 inch screen, and the failure of 720p has nothing to do with the titles; I can't use it even in the menu screen. I'm working right now under the assumption that this TV simply doesn't support progressive scan for anything higher than 480. As far as HDTVs go, it is fairly low-end. I'm not sure my X-Box model even supports DVI or HDMI, and I know my TV doesn't have an HDMI input. Plus, I have the component cables already.

I tested out Assassin's Creed on 1080i and 480p and the 1080 looked much better, interlaced or not, so I'm leaving it there.

Okay. So I freely admit to being an HD newbie. We got a widescreen HD-TV, rear projection, for Christmas. I'm trying to test out my X-Box 360 with the HD component cables, but 1080p and 720p both fail to work right. My options are 1080i and 480p. I was wondering if someone who knows a bit more about these resolutions knows which would be better for basic gaming display.

Aunt May got shot by one of Kingpin's men (they were aiming for Peter and screwed up); so instead of doing the logical thing and get one of the many capable healers in the Marvel U, Peter Parker makes a deal with Mephisto (remember that devil guy from the Ghost Rider movie? Yeah, him). The deal: Aunt May survives alive and well, but Peter's marriage to MJ and all memory of it vanish from the timeline. Harry Osborn is back alive, apparently having lived in Europe for all the years since his death. Nobody remembers Spiderman's identity, but some things, such as his tenure with the Avengers, are still canon... somehow.
