Political compass: interesting test
Time
Sweeny, you can't be that stupid. It's not humanly possible.

Look at Microsoft for cripe's sake! Your personal opinion of Bill Gates aside, Microsoft's pursuit of profit motive has created thousands of new jobs, made personal computers easier to use, standardized computer language (even programs run on Mac OS open in what amount to windows), and given Open Source advocates a villain to unite against. When Microsoft breaks the law, they should be punished... but when they are pursuing their own interests within the boundaries of the law, they contribute to society. The same goes for any corporation.

On the new test:

Your true political self:
You are a

Social Moderate
(55% permissive)

and an...

Economic Conservative
(71% permissive)

You are best described as a:

Capitalist (71e/55s)

Yay capitalism!

I know Clinton is more Authoritarian than I am, but according to that, she's more economically right wing. She wants to make a national health care plan and she's economically right wing? Please.

As I said before, some of the questions don't make much sense. Just look at the first one.

If economic globalisation is inevitable, it should primarily serve humanity rather than the interests of trans-national corporations.

Why is this an either/or option? What's good for trans-national corporations is good for humanity in general because said corporations produce the goods and services that keep the world running. Now if any corporation is exploiting people unethically for their own ends, then they should be punished. But the question assumes that the profit motive of global companies is somehow intrinsically hostile to the good of humankind, which is ridiculous.

Answering that question and a few others the typically 'right wing' way changed my results from this:

So, go with open source rather than piracy.

I do most the time, but sometimes there isn't an open source equivalent for everything.

50 Proprietary Programs We All Hate--and the OS Alternatives

That's a pretty useful list sean, thanks! Just goes to show you don't have to do illegal things to get free stuff.

Oh wow... I thought of making a chart pretty much exactly like this. I had no idea it was considered a legitimate spectrum.

Here's my results. Granted some of the questions I didn't have a strong opinion on and others I wasn't sure quite what they were asking. I think what put me slightly in the "Authoritarian" camp was mainly the fact that I'm opposed to abortion for reasons other than the mother's health. I tend to prefer that the government stay out of our business otherwise.

It's not that simple. If Scientology was just about believing in Xenu and Thetans, I'd say, 'fine, be stupid.'

The organization behind Scientology has a well-documented history of suing anyone who tries to make the details of the faith known--the very premise of the 'religion' is a copyrighted work of science fiction. People who were big in the 'church' and got out have wound up dead. They charge members for their services and you MUST pay or you're not a member of their little cult. They basically brainwash their members over and over again until they think that the honestly have to pay out the yin-yang to be happy and mentally healthy, and these people don't even realize that exactly the opposite is happening. (Yes, they were stupid for getting into it in the first place, but it's not an excuse.)

If you want to know more, look it up here: Operation Clambake

I believe I read recently that Scientology was banished from Germany because it didn't fit the criteria of a religious organization.

Well, if you put it like that it sounds like a criminal organization.

Well, yeah.

Snake's own games have ridiculous plot lines! He fits in just perfectly with Kirby and Pikachu.

(For crying out loud, Snake fights a boss that can read your memory card. How can you take him seriously?)

Yeah, when I saw Ness's name on the list I was about to be so happy since I'd heard so many rumors that Lucas was completely replacing him. But then I noticed Geno on the end of the list, and I just don't buy it. It'd be nice, but I somehow doubt it. Did you get this from SSBB Dojo?

No, it's not up there.

Though Ness, JigglyPuff, and Lucario have been confirmed, accidentally, by Nintendo of America. Geno, Krystal, Ridley, Falco, Game and Watch, Ganondorf, Bowser Jr, Black Shadow, Marth, Midna and Mewtwo, however, have yet to be confirmed.

Geno and Krystal? Yeah, that seems really friggin unlikely. Geno is obscure and Krystal sucks. Falco is unlikely unless he's completely revamped, and if Bowser Jr. is in this game, I will punch a wall. There's no way Bowser Jr. deserves to be in the game more than any of the elder Koopalings.

I have a similar opinion to C3PX, I guess. I've not bought a game guide since... Geez, probably Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, back in 2000*. They're just too expensive when the internet is there for free. I understand if you're trying to find everything in a big complex RPG it's nice to have the book there so you don't have to run back and forth to the computer, but otherwise, it's not worth the money.

*Well, I also have the Starcraft guides, but those came with the BattleChest--both games and both guides for ten bucks.

RIP: Bobby Fischer
Time
Over the years, Fischer gave occasional interviews with a radio station in the Philippines, often digressing into anti-Semitic rants and accusing American officials of hounding him.

He praised the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, saying America should be "wiped out," and described Jews as "thieving, lying bastards."

Eh, I say good riddance.
