Abrams is Destroying Star Trek like Lucas has Destroyed Star Wars
Time

The majority of fans and non-fans are saying it was great. Considering this franchise has been dead in the water for such a long time, there's nothing to lose. The positive fan reactions are only that much more beneficial for the franchise's future. Hell, it even has the Leonard Nimoy stamp of approval.

So I have no idea what's being "destroyed." To compare the PT with Star Trek is erroneous. They're two completely different situations.

Restrict the editing of posts
Time

I say have a 5 minute time limit, where you can edit a post without the "Last Edited blablabla" showing up. And then have it where you can edit it at any time, any amount of times, with that message showing up.

It tends to make smaller posts look shitty, and I'd like a chance to correct any spelling mistakes or sentence structures really quick without it showing up. If I wait longer than 5 minutes to edit, then that should be my problem.

I've always been a fan of talking about whatever in whatever thread. The "stay on topic" police annoy the hell out of me. I honestly think that most of the time they're trying to look all responsible so they can become a moderator someday. Not saying that's the case with you, Gaffer.

There's "stay on topic" and "we already have a thread about this."

I say who cares.

Watching the Godfather inspired me to play online games centered around the mafia. I did find a great website a while ago where you're given 20 turns ever 5 minutes, and you use the turns to recruit henchmen, bodyguards, prostitutes, or hitmen. When you have recruited a substansive amount of such underlings, you need to purchase enough weed and crack to keep your crew happy, and you also need to stock up on weapons so if someone attacks your mansion you're prepared. I signed onto the website about 4 days before the round was over (when the admins would hand out rewards for achievements). I made it high on the top ten list for killing the most people. I was a Godfather. I was the bringer of death to my enemies. I am The DarkFather.

Social proof is what you described Adywan as having. Adywan is an extreme case. If someone has a "fanbase" (sometimes simply a group of friends that put in a good word for them), then others are more drawn. It's popularity. Being automatically cool by virtue of so many hanging around you. Around the General Discussions forum, it's hard to say who the Alpha Male is. I think that's because it fluctuates all the time, and this category can't strongly center around any one person or idea, unlike, as you mentioned, the Fan Edits section where Ady has his little cult going on (I'd consider them a separate pack altogether). I think Axia likes the challenge of trying to win the opposing side over. Strangely enough, the most effective method of doing that is going to be completely unrelated to whatever issues he's trying to convince the opposing side of. A large portion of it is going to come down to who he keeps as his social proof.

TPM: A Decade Later
Time

It's been about 10 years now. Seems a helluva lot longer than 10 years.

HOW I FELT ABOUT TPM AFTER FIRST SEEING IT: I really, really liked the lightsaber battle. I don't know if I thought too much else about the rest of the movie.

HOW I FEEL ABOUT TPM 10 YEARS LATER: I can't watch it anymore. When I watch a Star Wars movie, and start thinking of others things to be doing, something is seriously wrong with the movie.

Okay, now you.

I like these:

this one too: (and others of course)

that's a awesome close-up. You can start to see how the mask indeed wasn't close to symmetrical (which they noticed in ROTS and redesigned for it to be symmetrical. for some reason).

I like them. Then again, it's their approval you want. Making threads like this is one of the more harder ways to do that. To become part of an already established pack, you're going to have to buddy up with the Alpha Male. Don't let man-made forum ranks deceive you. The moderator is only Alpha from a shallow perspective. Look for the one that everyone agrees with most, asks the most questions to... the one with the most social proof. Time is running out before the precedent you've set becomes cemented in the pack's collective mind, Axia. You're a straggler. Nobody wants to be the straggler when night falls and DarkFather rises. Tick tock.
