There have been known cases where a dub of something is better than the product in its original language. However, since English is the only language I am fluent in, I am not qualified to say what version is better, unless the product is re-translated and subbed. Maybe the German dub of Episode 1 *is* better. I wouldn't know, for reasons mentioned earlier; but if you feel a dub is better than the original, more power to you. However, only the original English is canon...

...yeah, that's a lame comeback, but I couldn't think of anything else to say.

Not to be a complete distraction, but what would be the point? Have you forgotten that the gout is both SD and DVNRed? By taking that, putting it to 16mm and retelecining it, all you will get is more artifacts. What would be the point, anyway? There are several real 16mm transfers of star wars that are true film to film transfers. Won't they always look better?

Oh, and for the record, if you transfer a SD source to film, it will always be SD. Scanning such film to higher resolutions, like traditional upscaling, will not magically make the footage HD. If it did, the BBC could make blurays of Doctor Who kinoscopes.

I am about to bring back a dead thread for almost no reason, but hear me out...

I am curious as to why no pirates made perfect rips of the GOUT and used these covers for selling it by itself. Considering the gout and the faces LD use the same transfers, the less informed might not know the difference.
