A codec with limited support and a non-free license? Pass.
IMO, the best options for lossless sound are LPCM and FLAC for Stereo or Mono (including Dual Mono, but why does that exist?) and DTS HD MA for surround sound. If only the official DTS HD MA encoder wasn't so expensive. It's almost like DTS wants to criminalize underage audiophiles. Of course, I wouldn't need to support DTS HD MA if FLAC had standardized surround sound support.
Unless they have the Prequel Trilogy deleted scenes in HD, I don't see any reason to buy any of the "digital" releases at all if you have the 2011 blu-rays.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Shame that I missed my chance to post about it. I wonder how the regulars would have reacted to a "Tastyspleen Appreciation Thread". They might have confused it with the other spleen.
The Tastyspleen Thread: A thread dedicated to one of the internet's most active...North American Quake 2 communities...
I meant to post it during April Fools, but I forgot. Is the joke still worth it, or are there any Quake 2 players in these forums (I am not in that category, but who cares)?
edit: I'd call this post a necrobump, but it seems this thread is designed for necrobumping :P
Also, I like how the guy talks about the digital release being in "glorious 4k". Don't they know that the 2004/2011 transfer is 1080p in 8-bits? Even the 97se is limited to 2k resolution. I don't know where they are getting "glorious 4k" from.
Just because a movie is "finished" doesn't make it right. "The Thief and the Cobbler" for example.
"Perfect" is a matter of opinion.
...can an admin please move this thread to the fan edits section?
Also, welcome to the forums Codeman.

What the hell is "digital HD"? Is there an "analogue HD"?
*Cough* MUSE Laserdisc *Cough* W-VHS *Cough* Analog HDTV *Cough*
...and that doesn't even count the UHD resolutions that can be supported by film.
Including killing Count Dooku.

Perhaps it's for the best. Otherwise, people would use jump scares as their avatars.
The link appears to be genuine, but the auction is closed.

Also, would it be disrespectful to post an LOL Bunny Skyscraper pic with Jesus replacing the bunny?

Most HDTV transfers are the 2004se. If you're lucky, it's the 97se, but those are rare. As the 2011se is mostly based on the 2004se, I doubt there is a significant quality difference.

...wow. That is pretty bad.
In between the ages of 6 and 12, I used to have recurring nightmares about what I called the "roar-ega monster". The dream could be about anything, but it always ended the same way. Out of nowhere a demonic creature (who's favorite form is Rex from Toy Story, but can look like whatever it wants.) would come up to me, say "ROAR-EGA" and something horrible would happen to me (Grabbed by a giant green hand, having an earache due to a loud noise, some sort of pain going through my body.) Many of those experiences could be considered "Lucid Nightmares". I knew that the dream was about to end, I knew the monster was coming, I knew I was in great danger. Infrequently I found myself able to summon the monster by saying it's name, although why I thought that was a good idea was far beyond me. Sometimes I was able to defeat the monster and wake up almost immediately afterwards, usually by closing it's mouth before it could say anything.
Other nightmares I had were one-offs. In one nightmare I had when I was 6, I was in my bed. I saw my mother on the floor, kneeling. It looked like she was praying. I got off my bed and went into a praying position myself. Suddenly white, disembodied hands grabbed me and placed me back in my bed, while some distorted angelic choir played as music. A similar dream from close to the same age showed me sleeping in my moms beds, with her nowhere to be seen. On a piece of furnature I saw a sign with the word "sale" on it. I half expected a cartoon character from my youth to appear and say "Sale? Hmm." Instead, I get grabbed by a metal claw. It softly but jerkfully shakes me while making this noise "Wa wa wa wa wa wa wa wa. Wa wa wa wa wa wa wa wa....." I woke up in my own bed not long after.
In a nightmare I had at 12 or 13, I was in a room at my house. I noticed a Sonic the Hedgehog doll that I didn't have in real life, and picked it up. A demon came out of it, saying the Sonic was evil, and as punishment for playing his games he would "put a big chunk in my head." He then goes into me, and I wake up. The claw and Sonic dreams both happened at the end.
I had some pretty disturbing nightmares when I was younger, though thankfully they don't come nearly as frequently. The most recent one I has was a jump scare, which gave me a shock. Yes, it happened at the end, surprised?

YES! YES!
Is the 8mm camera film or tape?
If the former, will there be sound or color?
If the only source of a film is vhs tape, what hardware do you use?
No, it wasn't...
... :P

When I was in college, some 150 years ago, one of the guys on my floor used to run from room to room, spraying an aerosol can...
In other words, 1865.

Metal spray cans were being tested as early as 1862. They were constructed from heavy steel and were too bulky to be commercially successful.
It's highly unlikely that a college student would have a spray can back then...
