Agreed. I think it’s better for the stormtroopers to admire them rather than disparage them. I get how some would find the joke lame though. Still an improvement over the original IMO.

On my next watch-through of the OT I plan on watching them horizontally mirrored (so left becomes right and right becomes left). I tested it out before on a couple scenes, and I was pretty amazed how fresh and new it made these shots look that I’ve seen a million times before. Maybe the closest you can get to “see[ing] it again for the first time”

Does Ridley or anyone else have the “[Rey,] these are your first steps” Alec Guinness voiceover by DJ Mitz? I don’t recall if it was edited using Guinness’ voice, or an impersonation, but I remember it being quite good. Haven’t been able to find it since it was removed from YouTube a while back.

You need to change the output settings so that it renders a video file instead of a single PNG. Or if you want a PNG sequence, hitting the Animation button should render that. Might be wrong, just going off memory here. Or maybe your frame range isn’t set right?

The cyan tint of the original is pretty bad, but monochrome and uninteresting is worse. Something in the middle would be my cup of tea.

iirc Mike’s always said that the stabilization had to be done by hand. I think he used the image registration software to fix warping.

I agree. I thought that was what was going to happen after Chewie’s “death scene” and I was excited for it. I remember thinking “holy shit, Rey kills Chewbacca, this is going to be good,” but then we learn he’s still alive a minute later and Rey doesn’t really have to deal with it. Would’ve loved to see more of her struggling with the darkness within her, and afraid to continue on, fearing that she’ll destroy the rest of her friends.

Really like what you’re doing here! I’d pick 2, ESB footage looks most natural to me. I’d also love to see a Sebastian Shaw version, though I realize the resources available for that are limited.

That shot is from the Lapti Nek scene, which has always been like that (not mirrored). The mirrored shots of Boba Fett you’re thinking of are from the Boushh/Chewie scene. Presumably they stay mirrored in this version.
