"There isn't any sense of peril in TPM and the beginning is really dull to watch most of the time"

^^

I totally agree and I definitely like your ideas of adding and restructuring things in TPM. It's so important that the viewer get into the story right from the beginning and I don't know that that's the case as it stands with TPM. I alos really dig the idea of expanding Dooku's character in anyway possible. One of the things I like about the CW series is the fleshing out of many PT characters who really got shafted in the movies. Speaking of which since Christopher Lee does the same voice it's possible there's some gold here and there from CW dialogue spoken by him.

I'm all for making it more in line with AnH. Not sure if you recall but a while back I suggested just starting the movie at the point where everyone is pretty much together and being chased and are forced to land on Tattoine. That's almost an exact mirror of AnH.

Cool new pic. I wouldn't worry about the scale thing guys because AdY said "there is some background activity to add yet that will give the scale."

So there you have it.

I know most of you guys are really looking forward to the spruced up Hoth battle because it seems that's where a lot of the work is going into but I'm actually still curious as heck about the new wampa, the Bespin makeover and most of all just the fantastic color corrections across the board. 2011 can't come fast enough. : )

"So it's no stretch to say that I trust what Adywan is doing with his edits.  He is making the saga we love reach the perfection that we all imagined in our mind's eye.

Empire is in great hands."

^^ Agreed...ANHR is now my standard version of the saga....and ESB will be the same.

Congrats on reaching a million AdY!

Has any thought been given to maybe moving the Vader/Palpatine scene earlier in ESB, perhaps even as the 1st scene  in which we see Vader? The most I know is Ady is altering the dialogue a bit.

In Ady's trailer it's amazing that the scene's dialogue works so well as a set up for the entire film so it just got me thinking perhaps it could be much earlier?

Then there wouldn't be the issue of "does Vader know or not know of Luke during that key scene" -  considering he'd already been searching for Luke by name at that point anyway.

The scene later on where Vader is told the Emperor wants to speak with him would simply have to be cut short.

According to George Lucas at CV - that was in fact the moment Vader learned for certain Luke was his son. (for what it's worth)

Anyway - just thought I'd throw it out there for the sake of possible discussion.

You rock Jaitea

Hey - just curious a while back I suggested maybe making more of a highlight out of the part at the end where Vader senses the force is strong in Luke while following him.

Have you ever thought of maybe editing that part so maybe Vader pauses longer or there's more a lingering shot hinting that perhaps Vader senses more than just the force in the pilot.

That slowed down footage is interesting but I'm not sure it's working for me after all.

It doesn't look bad, don't get me wrong you did fine...but I guess it's the fact that he still seems to talk fast as well that is throwing me off. JEJ voice simply goes high and emotional in that particular scene so I don't think there's much one can do to calm him down.

Maybe if his movements were not as slow...which it looks like you are going to try next?

^"In ESB he is, in ROTJ he almost prefigures the emo butt-monkey we saw in the PT."

LoL, true....to me he seems mostly like the Emperor's lackey in ROTJ, up until the end of course. it's like all that fire that was in him from ESB when he was talking about overthrowing Palpatine just went down the drain.

Unfortunately I think that wasn't so much a logical character development as it was born out of ROTJ becoming the final movie and GL needing to quickly tie everything up.

Anyway, the movies hold up for me despite the issues. It just makes them interesting in a weird way. Still, any effort being made to have ANH Vader be much more like his ESB version is appreciated.

"I won't be using any deleted scenes off the blu-ray for ESB:R no matter what scenes it may contain because for one it won't be out in time and secondly i really don't think ESB needs anything added"

^^ Makes sense. Plus unless those deleted scenes are inserted into the movie chances are their quality wont be as good and would stick out like a sore thumb.

^^ I can't wait to see those tweaked vader videos either. Sounds interesting.

In many ways the Vader of ANH was so different from ESB & ROTJ. In ANH aside from speaking faster and with a higher pitch Vader's costume is also a lot less polished and his cape is worn differently over his upper chest plate...plus you can see his eyes in many shots.

The Vader we see in the next two movies is much more HIGH polished, calm and cool and speaks in a more consistent tone.

I know part of this is the fact that Vader in ANH vs the other 2 movies was almost a different character. In ANH, GL had no clue about the father angle or many other things. Vader was mostly just a strong arm of equal power or maybe even less than Tarkin who was the real bad-ass.

ESB & ROTJ was where Vader truly stepped up and became more of fully realized 3 dimensional character.

"It seems like they fixed some of the errors the DVD release introduced as Luke's saber was actually white during his remote training and the color overall looked a LOT better than what I remember from the last release."

So is it blue now? Because that was really the main problem in AnH in terms of saber colors. Actually I think it was white/green on the DVD's. I haven't seen that version in soooo long.

:P

Anyway if they were showing the future blu-ray cuts or at least the WIP's than I'm curious how the CG Yoda looked integrated into TPM...for me that's a big selling point.

A month ago? Well anything is possible so you never know - I never rule out possibilities.

However I tend to think this new scene simply is what it is. It may be a combination of cut scenes to get the desired result but that's nothing new for the SW movies. They've recycled footage before.

Nevertheless if it wasn't shot in the 80's than both GL & Mark Hammill are blatanty lying to fans but for the life of me I see no reason for either of them to risk doing something so odd.

If this really was put together a short time ago GL could just have easily come out and said just that. Fans would have liked it anyway. He could have just said "here's a little something we put together for the special features , (like the new Wampa in ESB) hope you guys like it b/c we know you've wanted something like this for a long time."

That makes more sense than just lying.

LoL - I don't think AdY would do that. However I do wonder what deleted scenes if any from ESB could be in there which could be worth editing back into the film?

I think ESB holds up well enough on it's own and whatever upgrades AdY is doing will pretty much complete the film.
