I found a comparison a while back, but the ~15GB 720p version floating around is definitely the best-looking version. Go for that one.
When I commented, I didn’t realize the intermission cards weren’t original to the film (I’ve never seen it in full and am waiting for this). I wouldn’t mind them being gone.

The whole thing aired uncensored on HBO in January. A 1080i and 720p rip of this exist on public trackers.
Would be interesting to compare it with the full screen DVD, and see if the cropping is the same.
The Dolby Stereo mix might be worth a preservation by itself if there any differences in the mix?

A true grindhouse would have the colour misalignment, as that is what is on the print 😃
What resolution, filesize would people want a grindhouse to be, and would you prefer the intermission cards left in or removed? Colour aligned or not? (It won’t realign perfectly unfortunately, but can be improved a lot), missing frames left as is?

And yes, more funds for more HDDs would be great, as I am currently working without a net, and it has already cost me time when the RAID0 working space decided to ‘unraid’ a few days ago, costing me a couple of days tedious work to have to redo.

I have just downloaded 2.7, and damn, I thought that George Lucas finally released the unaltered Star Wars on Blu-ray! The colors are great! But VLC sometimes play .m2ts files. So I only watched it once, the 2nd time, it crashed, any good m2ts players?

Just finished downloading 2.7, but I’ve noticed that the Honorable Mention section of the Despecialized credits seem to be missing at the end. Was there a reason for this?
This seems to be some sort of accidental error, as the run time is still long enough to include the Hon. Mentions. The video just seems to skip over it on VLC.

I’m still keeping my chin up and hope for the day (or next year) we get the OUT (and the theatrical versions of the prequels) on Blu-ray and remastered DVD.
I too am hoping that one day we will have both the Original Unaltered Trilogy(OUT) and the Prequel Unaltered Trilogy(PUT). I hope that all of them are restored in 4K with the correct Colors and Contrast as well.
We can call them the OUTPUT.
I’ll be watching Star Wars (Despecialized 2.7) later today. It’ll be my first viewing of Star Wars with a proper surround sound setup, so that’s exciting. I’ll be using hairy_hen’s reconstructed 70mm 5.1 sound, of course.
SW: Greedo shooting first
This is interesting, as Greedo shooting first is the most offensive change in the entire trilogy, to me.
My second choice would be to leave in “Episode IV: A New Hope.”

You’re correct. I had forgotten about that, as I never watched Star Wars before watching the GOUT DVDs (and then Harmy soon after) in 2013.
R2 rocks aside, I would say ANH has had reasonable changes (if one accepts changes) since 1997. But it’s still unwatchable if you don’t like dated CGI creatures, which ESB was free of. Even if you do like that stuff, the ANH color really looks awful. Much worse than the other two films.
Except for Greedo shooting, of course.

What? 2.7 was released late last night (or early this morning depending on time zone). It’s Harmy’s Despecialized v2.7. It was made from Harmy’s source project 2.5 files by towne32.
That’s the same old reason, and it doesn’t make sense: Anakin turned back just before death.
I’d take Jabba out of the first movie. His reveal in ROTJ is awesome.
Alternatively, I’d remove Greedo having shot at all. Han shot first, dammit.
