That frame (TN1 114561) is GOUT 113651

Well spotted! There’s a jump there in TN1.

Part of me wonders if there’s 35s out there of the Greedo scene without hardsubs. </random>

The JSC doesn’t have the Greedo subs. Obviously, that was made for home video, and it’s a different situation, but I suppose that there’s a very slim chance that there might be a print out there that doesn’t have them. I doubt it though.

If these frame numbers are accurate, I can locate and upload the raw, uncleaned frames…

Thanks, but reintegrating the missing frames is not something I have time to do myself. As you say, it is quite a bit of work.

The numbers are accurate though. I’ll send you what I sent poita.

Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)

There’s definitely something to that Technicolor look though 😃

There is, and I love it, but there’s a different kind of appeal to the TN1. The blue on Artoo is lovely, and I really like some of the shots of him in the canyon. And TN1’s version is not finished in terms of color, so it’s not quite fair to compare it to other looks yet. The comparison that you posted is great for a quick fix though. 😃

If someone wants to post images of the missing frames using the GOUT as a source, I’ll see if I have those frames on film anywhere. Probably don’t, but I will check.

The list below should be right. The frame-numbers are based on the GOUT after it has been demuxed with PGCDemux and run through DGIndex with forced film selected (in other words, post-IVTC). Althor, would you mind checking them?

42593-604 (inclusive)
45153-45156 (inclusive)
55746-50 (inclusive)
56085
56926
58476-79 (inclusive)
60759
64864
70506-7
78664
83448-51 (inclusive)
86658-715 (inclusive)
113650-5 (inclusive)
144051-5 (inclusive)

Tips on improving Star Trek (PAL) DVDs (deinterlace, framerate conversion, upscaling etc.)
Time

I doubt there’s anything that you can do that would make them look appreciably better. They’re a notorious mess. The NTSC DVDs are a bit better, so get them if you’ll take any improvement. Otherwise, just watch the PAL DVDs and let your TV do any deinterlacing and upscaling that is needed. Working on them is a waste of time.

Harmy's RETURN OF THE JEDI Despecialized Edition HD - V3.1

I made a total of 26 edits to get it into a usable condition: patching over 12 reel changes, 2 laserdisc side breaks, and 3 other spots where sync is lost (possibly because of 2:3 cadence errors in the video); as well as 8 dropouts and 1 fairly severe instance of tape distortion.

I am assume that you rip your NTSC GOUT disc and select Forced Film in DGIndex before making an index. At any rate, anomalies in the 2:3 cadence ought not to affect audio sync.

Harmy's STAR WARS Respecialized Edition '97 - AVCHD and MKV Released
Time

In a somewhat-belated response to some of the requests in this thread, I have converted the MKV version of this release to DVD. Harmy’s re-uploading it to his account so that he can keep it available in the future, but I have temporary links that I’ll delete in a week or so. PM me if you are interested.

  • NTSC DVD-5
  • audio: theatrical DTS → AC-3 5.1 at 448kbps
  • chapter stops (from the MKV)
  • no menu
