I’m feeling a little patriotic… So why not? 😄

After a quick search of the site, this thread doesn’t seem to have been created yet, bloody outrageous! I’ve been finding myself desperate for new things to do so I had hoped that in this new thread I could engage with any fellow Aussies or anyone curious to learn about the greatest country in the world as we battle through this virus!

So yes, it’s no secret that I’m Australia, born and raised. On one side of my family, my ancestry dates back to the British convicts of the First Fleet, the first European people to settle in the country. Because of this. I pay may respects to the Indigenous population or rather, first people of this land and their elders, past and present.

Post in this thread if you’re Australian, live in Australia, been there on holiday, know anybody from there, etc… Tell the rest of us about your experiences, thoughts, things you love, things you dislike, funny stories about tasting Vegemite! (I LOVE it!) OR you can also take this opportunity to ask any of us Aussies your burning questions! Post memes, videos, gifs, etc…

I hate to further push these repeated requests for a word of progress from Dom, as I’m sure he has a life outside of this site. (unlike me…) But if this were to be released as a final version before Hal’s ascendant, it could mean that his ‘Rey Nobody’ cut may be able to be released simultaneously with his regular cut! 😱

I would be very much in favour of an alternate version of Ascendant that excludes the ‘THE’ part of the title, you know, just to mix it up a little… 😉 That way we have the third of each trilogy starting with ‘Return’ ‘Revenge’ and ‘Rise’

I think if the visual is too subtle only nerdy forum geeks like us will pick it up. I think it needs to act as clear visual shorthand for “it was broken, now it’s fixed, but imperfectly” and I think the kewlfish version accomplishes that.

I would really like it if we could somehow have Palpy yell something like, “Skywalker is dead!” Luke’s death made basically no impact on this film so anything to remind us of him would be very much welcome in my opinion.

Just watched the clip, using only a portion of the message works surprisingly well, the only big issue is that it seems like removing “somehow Palpatine returned” makes Poe’s next line “He’s been planning his revenge for years” seem very abrupt, it makes it a little too obvious he’s already in the middle of a speech.

Okay, so progress hasn’t really stopped, just slowed down once I started to dig into the prequels some more. I’ll try to post updates if I find the time but otherwise, I will confirm that this has not been canceled.

+1 For removing the ticking clock element. Star Wars never has that.

Also, Hal, I noticed in the workprint that the scene when Chewie is introduced to Hux and Pryde in the restructured Chewie reveal is now missing. Did I miss something? 🤔

Well you didn’t quote the rest of my reply, giving a false impression on what I was actually saying.

I continued by asking if the playback on Google Drive causes any issues with colouring, which would contribute to causing confusion between myself and others about what issues we were actually referring to. That is what I meant was hard to believe.

Very, very cool! I’m super excited to see some of this VFX incorporated into the scenes! I can not even begin to conceive any idea on how you manage to mask and rotoscope every lightsaber in these films!

Okay, so the workprint seems to be a perfect match with the frames Skenera provided meaning that the intensity or whatever you want to call it, has not been altered either intentionally or mistakingly by Hal like I had wrongly assumed.

Because of this, I have no idea what everyone is complaining about. Does the playback on Google Drive really result in over-saturation of red? That seems a little stupid.

Downloading the workprint now. I will compare frames of it with the example frames provided by Skenera to see if the LUT has been applied as they intended and as they appear on my computer.

This should hopefully resolve any debate about excessive red colouring.

Any ‘over abundance’ of red must imply that the LUT applied to the workprint Hal released has not been set to the specifications I believe were intended when it was created by Skenera.

Bottom line is: the LUT is fine, so long as it has been set correctly. Still unhappy? Make your own edit.
