As much as I do agree that Hux was given the same disappointing treatment in TLJ as Marcus Brody in Last Crusade, I actually don’t mind either of these moments. They never felt jarring in any way to me.

That’s not a change Hal made, that’s what Rian Johnson said when he was asked about why the line didn’t make it into TLJ. I don’t know if he ever said where in the film BB-8 supposedly says it, though.

The grain is definitely excessive though, so I’ll be interested to see the DNR’ed version. I hope the grain can be toned down without removing detail or introducing a “waxy” look.

I’m sticking with the ungrained for 4K and waiting on the DNR version for the 1080p, personally. And I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for the eventual various color graded versions that people will make from this as a source.

It’s pretty much just white balanced to the sprocket holes with a contrast adjustment, though some of the reels are balanced by hand IIRC.

There will be versions with “proper” color grades (Dr. Dre is working on one), but this is pretty much the colors exactly as they are on the print with any fading/color shifts cancelled out.

Actually, part of the hold up with the release was trying to do a “proper” color grade and no one agreeing on it!

Haven’t gotten a chance to check out the new 5.1, but sounds like it’s something special! Any plans to redo ESB and ROTJ with the new decoder?

Ragnarok, on the other hand - they pretty much tell you everything you need to know from that movie in dialogue during Infinity War. But the events of Cap 3 weren’t as clearly explained.

I also have yet to see Black Panther.

My Achilles injury is not healing nearly as quickly as I want it to. And today was a particularly rough day at work (step counter says I walked 9 miles), so now it really hurts.

Thankfully tomorrow is a short shift, and I have Sunday off…

Wait, is it officially released? We got the go-ahead to share the no-DNR versions out in the wild? I know it was decided that RC2 for the 1080p and RC1.1 for the UHD were probably going to be final, but I wasn’t clear that it was okay to actually distribute them yet.

I think Hal is using Final Cut, not Premiere. Unless something has changed that I missed.

Well, it’ll be a while before a 4K BR disc is feasible, but a 4K MKV is very doable right now. But I’m sure regular SRT subs will be sufficient for that.

Man dorms have really strict rules these days.

I got my internet shut off for a while for using BitTorrent when I was in the dorms in college. That was 10 years ago, so god knows how strict they’ve gotten with shit since then.
