Assuming it’s a whole reel (which I think it is?) it was likely a scanning focus issue and they decided they didn’t have enough time to rescan the reel.

No, it’s just a section. Even then there are a few shots that are perfectly fine mixed in towards the end.

That’s so bizarre. God the BR set is a mess…

The GOUT Sync Thread

Oh, I get that. I never noticed the sync issue in ROTJ v1.0 myself. It just seems odd to me that it would be noticed more with a particular actor than the others - you’d think it’d be across the board.

Not saying you’re wrong (or that anyone who noticed it as a problem is, either), it’s just something that’s tough to wrap my brain around!

Or maybe he should actually listen to the advice of literally everyone that’s offered it, including multiple industry professionals, instead of bullheadedly assuming he’s right and that the people who get paid to do this stuff somehow don’t know what they’re talking about.

It’s okay, I didn’t mean to jump down your throat. It’s just that over the years, constant questions about when Adywan will be finished have worn on both him and his supporters. Just don’t make a habit of it is all - Ady will give us updates when there are updates to give! 😃

Adywan just a minor question is this coming out this year or next year same question for return of the jedi revisited as well. I know your busy with it just curious that’s all.

No. Just no. We’re not starting this again.

ESB:R took eight years. Be patient, people. There is no estimated release date and there will not be one. It will take as long as it needs to take.

Stop asking.

(This is directed to all past, present, and future questions about time frames, not just you. You just had the misfortune of being the first one to ask in a while.)

Each official audio mix does the echo in the chasm very differently, too. Adywan’s is a heavily modified version of the 2004 DVD mix, so it’s likely that the echo in Revisited is similar to that.

The original mixes (especially the mono mix) had more of an exaggerated echo effect, while the 1997/2004/2011 mixes have more of a natural effect, to my memory. But I could be mistaken, and Ady might have actually taken the echo effects from a different mix that the 2004. I’d have to compare all the different mixes to be sure which his is closest to.

My Avisynth-fu has never been anything except rusty, but I think that means if you delete frames 68664 and 68665 from 4k83, you’ll get NTSC GOUT.

That’s right. 😃

Although I don’t see how there can be 2 extra frames after frame 68663.

It’s the two missing frames of the rebel fleet immediately after Luke’s conversation with Ben. Perhaps you are more used to the PAL GOUT.

What are you trying to re-sync, Arnied?

I want to be able to sync any of schorman’s GOUT synced laserdisc tracks to 4k83. So as I understood it somewhere 2 frames need to be inserted. So I want to duplicate the frame before the 2 extra frames 2 times to get an audio file of the correct length, like in the script above.

However, frame 68663 is already past the wipe, so I don’t think it’s the correct position.

Arnie.d,

I have them all done already. I will be posting them to tswt forums later today or tomorrow.

Edit: Now available!

How do I find them there?

Return of the Jedi subforum > “audio tracks” thread (of which hairy_hen is the OP). Post #12, specifically.

I think he confused you with another member who I’ve had the same issue with in the past (shitting on other people’s work in a non-constructive way - not going to name them here). Not sure why he thinks that’s you, since you express support and enthusiasm for other people’s work frequently.

Or he read some of your posts about the sequel trilogy/post-Disney Star Wars material and is conflating that negativity with your opinions of fan projects. Not sure.

Are you insinuating me?

Nope, not at all! Sorry if there was confusion. I can’t speak for who ITHoTMK might have been speaking about, but the member I was referencing has not posted in this thread.

Going to take a gues this is footage from the battle for endor, mixed into ROTJ

Quality sleuthing, Holmes.

Ive never seen BFE or COC, it was just a wild gues, tbh it looks very well intergrated, im wonderinf if they shot near the same redwoods area they did for ROTJ, and iirc COC reuses jabbas palace’s set, and has it redecorated

His “Holmes” jab was because your “guess” was explicitly stated in the first sentence of the OP.
