Star Wars: The Coaxium Heist (COMPLETED)

If I may ask, was there ever a thought to do something about Han speaking Shyriiwook (or is that even possible)? Personally I could definitely live without ever hearing that part again, haha.

Personally, I think getting rid of the subtitles in that scene is helpful. You get everything through context just fine, and it removes the weird feeling of it being literally the only time in ten movies that Shyriiwook is subtitled.

Plus that means you could cut out one or two instances of Han’s growling if you really want to.

The future of OT.com - UPDATE: Please donate!

if anyone asks someone on here for a link or access or a disc to be burned I think the reply back should be “donate to the site and I will”.

We already have a reputation for being hostile to newcomers (which isn’t entirely without cause). This is a rabbit hole we don’t want to go down. That’s not even getting into the ethical/legal issues we’d be inviting by requiring site donations for access to projects when we’ve spent years developing the culture of “Never ever ever charge people for fan projects or you’re done, no second chances.”

Not trying to jump down your throat or anything - your heart’s in the right place and it’s not a bad idea for other types of communities. But I don’t think it’s an idea that should be entertained for us. Even if you’re not paying the creator of a project for his work, being forced to cough up cash to anyone in any capacity in order to gain access isn’t okay.

At least, those are my thoughts on the idea.

Episode IX: The Rise Of Skywalker - Discussion * SPOILER THREAD *
Time

I think the natural state of the Force means anyone can tap into it, but needs practice and training to use it effectively, and some are more naturally talented than others and use it instinctually.

But the Force has its own will, and can “raise up” someone (like Rey) in a crisis situation (“Darkness rises, and light to meet it”).

The Last Jedi: Rekindled (Released)

I wish editing was as simple as copy/paste so I could just blend the scene in myself. But I totally understand if you want to keep it the way it is. But yeah please, no need to touch Space Leia. Your version is fantastic at moment (in my opinion).

This might not be impossible using MKVToolNix - you’d have to remux each one and split it at an equivalent point just after the Hux convo, then use the "join* feature to cut in the first part of Hal’s with the rest of poppa’s.

I actually kind of agree with you, so I might experiment with trying this out when I have time and see if it works. If it does, I’ll provide detailed instructions.

Probably couldn’t play it on everything depending on the encoding settings of the two edits (which might preclude this from being doable at all without reencoding first at equivalent settings), but it should work on PC software players like MPC-HC.

Set your H264 encode to as slow as you can bear it, do a CRF value of about 22, 1280x720 (well, crop the letterboxing, so like 1280x544 or so), with AAC audio, and you can definitely get a decent ~2GB file. High profile 3.1 is fairly universally compatible.

Chapters can be kept, but can cause issues in an MP4 container, which is more widely compatible than MKV. And soft subs don’t work well in MP4.

That’s all from my own experience, YMMV.

How many good third movies in a trilogy can you name?
Time

Oh, there’s a lot that’s different, to the tune of about 20-25 extra minutes. Sadly, movie-censorship’s comparison is old and crappily translated from German, and missing a lot of screen caps. And it’s been so long since I’ve seen the theatrical cut that I can’t remember the differences that clearly beyond the ox thing and Golic’s obsession with the alien.

New 4K releases - but are they any good?
Time

Burning question I’ve had about 4K BD, in particular, film transfers to the format:

Does HDR better represent the colors in the source material? Or does the HDR process add information that is not in the original film? I.e., is the innovation that the full range of color projected in theaters years ago can finally be captured and presented digitally? Or are we adding information to older films that wasn’t there?

If the latter, I’m inclined to think there is something unsavory, revisionist about the format.

Very good question that I’ve heard conflicting answers for. I’d be very interested in hearing a knowledgeable individual chime in on this.

Counterpoint: the reason I chose this edit over Hal’s as my go-to is because that scene isn’t in it. I don’t think it works and don’t think it can be made to, and I have no problem believing that, since Leia was farther from the blast than anyone else, that she could have been recovered quickly before she suffocated in the vacuum of space.

After months of waiting and several delays, I finally received the 4K Blu-ray of 2001: A Space Odyssey. The set and transfer are absolutely beautiful. Highly recommend for fans of the film and movie lovers in general.

I’m still keeping the original Blu-ray disc because it has PCM audio.

But the UHD has that same mix (and the 1968 six-track mix) in lossless DTS-HD, so there’s no difference…? 🤔

The Terminator - Color Regrade [No Longer Available]

Richard Stamper said:

Hi guys, I’m currently syncing all available mono mixes for another project.
I tried to sync the mono mixes rips from the 1995 THX LD that previously had been released all over the web, and sadly, I must report those mixes were cut down to match the 5.1 track, meaning some parts of the sound are missing.
I’m currently awaiting for a new rip of this THX LD, that I will resync without any cuts being made to the original audio. The only improvement will be filling in the blanks at the end of the reels changes.
you can follow the progress on fanres.

That’s great news! I’d love a proper PCM mono to pair with Dek’s awesome regrade.

If you need to B*tch about something... this is the place
Time

Not really. The first Wolverine was a prequel to the first X-Men movie. The second was a sequel to the third X-Men movie. The third was more or less a standalone that likely takes place either in a future after DOFP reset the timeline, or another timeline altogether, but it makes passing references to the second Wolverine IIRC.

Basically, each Wolverine movie is its own thing, but all are spinoffs of the X-Men movies. There’s little if anything tying the Wolverine movies together as its own independent series.

But I guess you could consider the second to be a soft reboot, maybe.
