4K restoration on Star Wars
Time

I’ll probably buy the first Episode I-IX Complete Saga 4K + standard Blu-Ray set and ditch all my old discs after that, whether the OOT is included or not, if I’m honest with myself. Just to have everything in a nice matching set and be covered for all future fan projects, and the ST in 4K. But that would be my last OT purchase unless a restored OOT is released, and would definitely be my last PT purchase unless I’m forced to rebuy themb for an official restored OOT.

Oddly, I don’t think I’d buy said set if it included Rogue One and Solo. I’d rather have just the “Skywalker Saga” itself in a boxed set and have the standalone movies all separate.

<strong>4K77</strong> - Released
Time

1080p Blu-Ray copies would certainly be doable, but I don’t know of anyone (including the members of the 4K77 forums) who is capable of authoring and burning a 4K Blu-Ray that is playable in a standalone player. I for one put my 4K copies on a flash drive to plug directly into my TV and watch them through my TV’s built in media player software. Most UHD BR players are capable of this as well.

Digital Bits has TFA and R1 coming out in 4K at the end of this year, and everything else (both in a saga boxed set and as individual releases) in “the first half of 2020”.

How reliable is this source?

Digital Bits is not very reliable at all.

Fixed that

How so? I’ve never known them to be anything but reliable, and they’re very good at clearly calling out rumors as such.

Han - Solo Movie ** Spoilers **

They should have deleted it and just included his name during the Imperial trainee scene. Which I guess goes for a lot of these weird annoying moments… they shelved half the movie but didn’t have any idea what actually worked.

I don’t think they really shelved all that much (just reshot).

Yeah, my understanding is that Lord and Miller were let go for straying too far from the Kasdans’ script and improvising too much, and Howard was brought in to bring the movie back on track (aka follow the script).

schorman's HDTV Star Wars Saga Preservation (Released)
Time

I’m fine with either theatrical-approximate hardsubs for TPM or softsubs. As long as they’re not the garish hardsubs from the first HDTV preservation I’ll be happy, as I’ll probably do my own theatrical-approximate hardsubs for TPM anyway if you do softsubs.

ANH and ROTJ I’m indifferent on, just because I can’t really see myself downloading those anyway.

Disregarding the TCW series, we didn’t get much in the prequels, and he was in Episode III for barely a few minutes before being de-handed and de-headed. If Sir Christopher Lee had not been cast, Dooku would be forgettable.

I don’t believe that you believe that Dooku and Snoke are equivelant.
Dooku is a character with a smaller role than Snoke, yet we learn more about him.

Dooku and Snoke are 100% comparable. And in 5 years you’ll probably be able to say the same thing about Snoke thanks to books and comics and TV shows - which is exactly how we know anything worthwhile about Dooku.

The <strong>Original Trilogy</strong> Radical Redux Ideas Thread
Time

As was pointed out when I made those, the thickness of the outlines in the letters is not uniform, which still bugs me. I tried a few things out back then, but the closest method I came up with ended up rounding the corners, too, which to me was worse than inconsistent line thicknesses.

I’m sure I could do better with these nowadays. Maybe I’ll give it another shot one night when I’m bored.

George Lucas: Star Wars Creator, Unreliable Narrator &amp; Time Travelling Revisionist...

Wrong thread. In fact, wrong subforum altogether. https://originaltrilogy.com/discussion/Theatrical-Cuts-vs-Subsequent-Releases/id/4

But to answer your question, I’m about 50/50 on it - they’re a little inconsistently applied, but they generally look nice and seem more in line with the type of aesthetic Lando would have gone for. But I kinda liked the claustrophobic feel of the original version, which gives the whole place more of a “prison-like” feel which fits the story at that point (even before you’re consciously aware that it’s a trap). So, like I said, 50/50 for me.
