Oh yeah, that’s absolutely perfect!

Oh yeah, that’s absolutely perfect!
That’s probably the issue - someone reencoded it and cropped it to 16:9.
What do you mean you couldn’t extract it? How did you download it - was it a series of RAR files, or an ISO image?
Really? That’s bizarre and makes no sense… Do you see letterboxing (black bars) on the top and bottom of the screen? Are you sure you got the official ~20GB release or did you download someone’s re-encode of it that might have cropped it to 16:9?
The Despecialized Edition seems to be cropped from the movies’ original CinemaScope ratio because I noticed that some of Greedo’s subtitles in Episode IV, as well as some parts of the credits went off the edges of the screen. I am a person who likes to watch everything in its original aspect ratio, so do you know where I can find a Despecialized copy in the original CinemaScope ratio? Thank you.
This is because of overscan on your TV. Nothing has been cropped from the Blu-Ray. It is in its original ratio.
What type of TV are you using to watch this?
Um, what are you talking about? Star Wars wasn’t shot in CinemaScope. Where exactly have you heard that Star Wars was filmed in CinemaScope?
IMDb said so, 2.35:1. If that doesn’t prove it, I don’t know what does.
That doesn’t mean CinemaScope. That just means anamorphic 35mm.
It seems that this edit has the potential to become the “Adywan’s Star Wars: Revisited” of TFA (except it’s not by Adywan), given the hard work and effort you’ve put into it.
Um…wrong thread.
As obsessive as I can get about certain things, the reality is that I can’t be steward of this metaproject forever, and so with V6 I fully intend to set the prequels down and just let whoever wishes to take up the craft going forward cull whatever they wish from them. They’ll be my ultimates, of course, but there’ll never be an end of the line.
Even if IX ends up requiring me to go back again, say if the plot crucially involves midichlorians or something, I’d probably just reckon those as V6.1.I can assure you that there will be no mention of midi-chlorians.
Didn’t know you were in the writing room on TROS! 😉
That’s not giving you more picture information though, it’s just cutting the sides off to fit in a 16:9 TV frame. It’s possible that someone around here might have such a copy recorded off TV, but I think it’s unlikely.
I think the novelizations are all considered canon only as they agree with the films, the original six novelizations included.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s a well made film. It isn’t bad by any means. But I certainly don’t think it’s the best horror movie ever made by a long shot.
It’s much more effective as a character study of a religious man having a crisis of faith and being forced to literally confront it head-on.
You should be able to put the 4K MKV files on a flash drive and plug that into your Oppo and play the files directly. I watch the 4K versions that way (I plug the flash drive directly into my TV, but the principle is the same).
I gave The Exorcist (theatrical cut) another chance last night after about 10-15 years.
I still think it’s overrated and not scary.
JEDIT: Nevermind, didn’t see the response above!
Rey rejecting him, right? I thought that was pretty clear.
Sounds like a very brief (and inexpensive) ride to me!
Can someone explain to me what bitrate means? Are they of lower quality?
Overall, yes. Lower file size, lower quality. But that doesn’t mean bad quality - if you take care when encoding (which I’m sure Schorman has done), it will still look excellent.
The “full bitrate” versions are equivalent to Blu-Ray releases, and are 30-40GB (like Blu-Rays). The “low bitrate” versions are more equivalent to, say, iTunes/Amazon digital download or Netflix/Hulu streaming.
I don’t plan on downloading the low-bitrate copies myself, but did you flag the commentary speaker subs as “forced”? That means the player will always turn them on automatically no matter what audio track is selected. The “forced” and “default” flags should both be set to “off” so the viewer can select them manually when changing to the commentary track.
Oh, right, that. My bad. Still, no official press release yet that I’ve seen.
I don’t think it’s been officially announced. I haven’t seen a press release, just the Best Buy listing.
Here’s 1.1 (no-DNR w/Sanjuro’s grade) vs 1.3 (minimal DNR w/Sanjuro’s grade):

I didn’t make this, just passing it along, so I don’t have more screengrabs to share as I no longer have 1.0 or 1.1
Dibs on kamikaze A-wing pilot!
Quick question, and I’m not asking this to be mean or to bully you in any way, I think the answer will genuinely help us to better communicate with you in the future - is English your first language?
I mean, come on - even if you thought a tool that will automatically restore footage and edit it back into the movie for you was possible (which kinda makes sense considering you still seem to think someone will just do all that work for you despite multiple people telling you multiple times that it won’t happen and you need to learn how to do it yourself if you want it done), the Last Jedi quote had to be a dead giveaway…
