STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

The DVD-5 is around 4 and a half gigabytes. The DVD-9 is around eight and a half gigabytes. Then there's the DVD-5 "Purist Edition," which is also around 4.5 gigabytes, and there's a 1.5 gigabyte AVI and I think a 700 megabyte AVI.

The DVD-5 and DVD-9 are meant to be burned to disc and played on a standalone DVD player, while the AVIs are just video files meant to be watched on your computer. They're also rough-drafts, basically, IIRC.

I have ABSOLUTELY no problem with luke and leia being brother and sister. removing that one little plot would destroy the saga. And take atleast a half hour out of the whole saga.

No it doesn't. It takes out exactly the following:

- Leia being born in Episode III
- Bail Organa's discussion about adopting Leia
- Yoda's "Sky ... wal ... k ... er" line as he dies (he can still say "There is another" in ESB and ROTJ)
- The "sister" part of Obi-Wan/Luke's ROTJ conversation (though I'm in favor of the removal of this conversation entirely, whether Luke and Leia are sisters or not
- Part (but NOT ALL) of Luke and Leia's conversation on Endor
- Vader's specific lines "SISter ... so, you have a twin SISter ... " which can easily be replaced and/or modified
- "Tell your sister ... " - the "You were right" line can stay
- "He's my brother"

Done. That's it. And taking out those parts would all be improvements.

BSG
Time

Alright. I've literally seen the first 58 seconds, but I had to stop and ask this:

If we can have a bunch of random nudity in the DVD version of this, why the hell can't we get the same in BSG for Boomer/Athena and Six? WHY?!

That's all I needed to say. I'll continue watching now.

Praxis explosion ftw. I wonder if all the starwars-only anti-trek fans know that Lucas included a Trekkish special effect in the SE? :P The irony is glorious.

Edit: I didn't see Ady's post. So... are we saying that the SE explosion was from SG-1, or the ANH:R one was?

The ANH:R one was taken from SG1.

The only thing I want done to ANH now is a HD version of the original '77 release with the bad effects cleaned up. No CGI models, just fix the color and get rid of the matte lines.

No! Don't fix ANY effects!

Here's the ideal release (for the Blu-Ray):

Disc 1: An HD 1080p version of "Star Wars" EXACTLY as it was in 1977, matte lines and everything included, plus the mono, theatrical stereo, and 70mm six-track sound mixes included, along with the 1985 stereo remix and the 1993 stereo remix. Opening crawl is selectable at the start of the film (1977 or 1981 crawl).

Disc 2: An HD 1080p version of the 1997 SE of "Star Wars," EXACTLY as it was on 1997. Includes the 1997 5.1 surround mix.

Disc 3: An HD 1080p version of the 2004 SE, including the shittily-mixed 2004 5.1 mix. (No seamless branching because of the incredible differences in color between the 1997 SE and 2004 SE, which would be preserved.)

Disc 4: An HD 1080p version of the final George Lucas Ultimate Edition That Fixes Everything But Probably Won't.

Disc 5: All deleted scenes in 1080p (including the original, pre-CG Jabba scene and original Biggs/Luke in the Rebel hangar scene with the reference to Luke's father intact), with other special features.

Similar for ESB/ROTJ (though Disc 1 of ESB will have seamless branching for the 35mm theatrical and 70mm theatrical versions). *That* is my ideal set.

And I'd add the NTSC DVD-9 of Revisited as a Disc 6 myself for good measure.

why would you want the shitty 2004 releases even included? To use as a lesson in how not to restore and remaster a film?

The same reason they included the Director's Cut of "Blade Runner" when the Final Cut was a better, more updated version, or why they included the US theatrical version when the international theatrical (also included) was identical to the US, but uncensored - for the sake of including everything. Why leave anything out? Even if it's bad, it still existed.

Even for the PT Blu-Rays, I'd want seamless branching for TPM for the theatrical and DVD cuts, with the next disc being CG-Yoda cut (or seamless branching again for that); for AOTC, theatrical 35mm/digital cuts (I think the digital version was the one released on DVD), then disc 2 IMAX cut (different aspect ratio from theatrical); and for ROTS, well that doesn't really matter much since the only difference is a wipe vs a hard cut (I'd use the theatrical wipe instead of the DVD hard cut). And, of course, another disc each for GL's Super-Fantastic-Special-Knock-Your-Socks-Off-Edition that most of us will hate and never watch anyway.

I liked them, but the often too obvious music cuts did bother me a bit.

Another thing that jumped out to me in Twilight: when Zam dies she mentions Kamino, so Obi-Wan knows the name of system he's looking for without having to visit Dex or the Analysis Droids. However, when looking for this system no-one's ever heard of and he fails to find it... he somehow magically knows where it's supposed to be?

It felt very odd to me. Cutting what's left of the "someone removed Kamino from the archives" subplot should fix that.

That's true. I think this could be easily fixed by removing the specific "It should be here" reference.

If I recall, though, it was pretty much the same way in the theatrical cut - he knew the name, but then suddenly knew exactly where it was supposed to be as well. I could be wrong, though, I haven't seen the theatrical AOTC in years.

'Wolverine' takes a leak

Do you guys think it would be better if Marvel got the rights back from fox and rebooted the X-men Franchise?

I mean X-men 1-3 was essentially already the wolverine trilogy. And the third film by Ratner was just plain all around bad. I wish Singer had directed that instead of that Superman Returns movie.

I 100% agree. When I saw the trailer for "Wolverine" I immediately thought, "Didn't we just get 3 'Wolverine' movies? I want my 'X-Men' movies!"

There will be no Purist version of ESB (which won't have very many "controversial" changes anyway in my opinion) or ROTJ (which might anger some, because there's going to be a LOT of changes to ROTJ).

Since he's doing ESB in 720p, my bet is that there will be an H.264 HD release. ANH was done in standard-def, and a lot of the changes in there would have to be completely redone to make an HD release, and Ady has said he won't be doing that.

Wade Wilson was GIVEN the ability to regenerate by the Weapon X program, and later took the moniker of Deadpool. In "Wolverine," Wilson apparently has super-speed or something.

Then later in the movie, Stryker unveils "Weapon XI," a genetically-engineered mutant with Cyclops' eyes, Sabretooth/Wolverine's regenerative abilities, and adamantium katana swords that come out of his wrists. Stryker calls this thing "Deadpool." Oh, and it also has no mouth. Wolverine recognizes Weapon XI/"Deadpool" as Wade Wilson, even remarking "Someone finally shut you up" or something to that effect whilst fighting him.

And no, Wade never breaks the fourth wall (sadly). But Reynolds was damn good casting for him ... too bad they ruined it.

Oh, and C3PX, here's my favorite example of Deadpool's fourth-wall-breaking in the comics:

I never realised that the Trade Federation ships were that huge, you could fit about seven Star Destroyers in that thing, going by the cockpits the AT-AT and the Imperial Shuttle seem way off.

I don't think those are accurate.

Remember how big a Naboo Starfighter is? With Jake Lloyd sitting inside? Compare that to the size of the Trade Federation ship's docking bay.

Now think of how big the Tantive IV is. And compare that to a Star Destroyer's docking bay.

Like I said, I don't think that image is accurate.

I am having difficulties downloading this. I downloaded the first two rar files, but know it wont let me download anymore. Any one got any suggestions?

Either wait 15 minutes, or pay for a 3-day subscription and download 5 parts at a time (which is what I did).
