Hey, I wasn't told that I had been put on the "Permanent Asshat" list!

So, let's see, I started without being on a list.  Then I was bumped to "Unreasonable," skipping the "Warning" list.  Then I was bumped from "Unreasonable" to "Permanent Asshat," skipping the "Total Asshat" list.

How did I jump up that list more quickly than Frink?  He made a stop at every point on the list, didn't he?  I contend that YOU are the "Unreasonable" one, CMG!

On the one hand, that sounds easy, as the prop guns fired blanks anyway, and I believe you can see shell cases coming out every once in a while.

On the other hand, it means you have to digitally erase every laser blast in the film, AND add in digital blood and gore every time someone gets hit.

As someone who generally disapproves of a lot of the ideas in this thread, I'm surprised to say that I really like the idea of adding mechanical movement sounds to Vader.  It does make sense.

Well, if 3 are coming back to you with copies of the GOUT V3 on them, you still want DJ to be left with enough that he can use for testing purposes, yes?  So I'd say a pack of 10 at least.

I highly disagree.  I think they're ugly and too low in the frame.

My suggestion would be to use the subtitle-free 2004 DVDs for the shots with subtitles, and use msycamore's script once the video is completely done to add the proper theatrical subtitles back in.

(If necessary, I'm sure msycamore wouldn't mind adding them in himself if you got the video to him.  Then again, I'm speaking on his behalf when I have no right to.)

And don't be afraid to cut in full GOUT shots when necessary.  It may not look the best, but there's not much else you can do.  Just try to get the GOUT shots looking as nice as you can get them to look.

Honestly, the only change left in Ady's ESB that did bother me was the "fix" to Han's shirt in the "I love you"/"I know" exchange.  It wasn't a necessary "fix," damn it, George!

Damn, now I need to scrape together some cash so I can send you a pack of DL's!

- Yes, there is definitely a need for this.  Based on the clips you've posted alone, this will be miles and miles better than the Classic Edition, which felt cobbled(!) together and amateurish.

- What source do you have that has burned-in yellow subs?  Honestly, that sounds atrocious.  Here is a link to msycamore's thread about subtitles.

Well, if that's the best "evidence" there is, I'm gonna make my permanent exit from this thread, as I've heard all that before and none of it is convincing in the slightest.

Oh, Harmy, just had a thought - you should use msycamore's recreated theatrical subtitles for this.  That would make it absolutely perfect!

My guess is it's someone reading the crawl aloud to their child in the theater (my parents did this for my brother in 1997 when we saw the SE in theaters - they did it for the alien subtitles, as well).

I haven't listened to this recording, so that's only a guess.

005, just took a look at your comparison page - the "STAR WARS" logo recedes at the same pace in the 1977, 1981, and 1997 crawls.  It's sped up in the 2004 crawl for some reason that I can't quite fathom.

I'm aware that you're talking about the 3rd building.  It was damaged as well, and was clearly going to fall at some point.  The news studio in question likely had text prepared for the anchor to read when the building collapsed, as it was clear it was going to fall.  The anchor mistakenly read said text too early.

He winks?  I don't remember that.  And if it's in the GOUT footage, there's no reason it can't be restored.  If it's not, I daresay it was probably never in the film to begin with (like Luke throwing the grappling hook twice - it never happened).

So they knew it would collapse due to the fact that it was, what, on fire and in danger of imminently collapsing, and had that text prepared, but the anchor mistakenly read that text instead of the text saying "___ tower will collapse at any moment."

There's nothing strange about that at all.  It's like when obituaries for famous people accidentally get published before the person dies - they have these things ready in advance so they can announce it ASAP when it happens.

And BBC is a UK channel, not American (British Broadcasting Corporation).

Anyway, I'd like to know what "evidence" there is that the "official story" of what happened on September 11 is untrue.

I may not agree with the conspiracy theories regarding 9/11, but I don't think people that do agree with them are being disrespectful.

Frankly, I feel that blatantly refusing to allow those people to talk about their views on the subject, and calling the mere idea of those views "nonsense," is more disrespectful.

Well, the way I look at it, I'm going to be using this as a companion piece to Ady's ESB reconstruction (and, I assume, his ANH reconstruction, too).  And in Ady's ESB, he returned Artoo's panels to black for the space scenes, so I vote to keep them that way for the sake of both consistency and purism.  (Is that a word?  Purism?)
