It could use more Baldwin, but he's still good on the show.  I've really been enjoying Dalton, however.  This and Hot Fuzz almost make up for License to Kill... from time to time.

Hey, Licence to Kill is substantially better than most people make it out to be.  It's definitely better than any of the Roger Moore films.

And Dalton will always be the best Bond to me.

Did Lucasfilm advertise the 2004 DVD boxset as...
Time

They never advertised it as anything but "The Star Wars Trilogy," IIRC, but they did acknowledge in interviews/press releases that it would be the Special Editions and not the originals.

HOWEVER, I don't think they ever said that additional changes were being made.  When the Hayden-in-ROTJ shot was leaked a few weeks early, most people thought it was a fake, and that Lucas would never do something like that.  Obviously, they were wrong.

And despite me being a purist, I hate the idea of bringing the "law" into it, especially as in your last paragraph which is just ridiculous.

Now in the middle of Buffy season 2.  Even though there are great episodes later that exceed it

Surely you jest?

Well, the season 4 finale 'Restless' comes to mind, and 'Once More With Feeling' from season 6, but generally the best of later years tend to be individual episodes, while season 2 was the most consistently well written and watchable as a whole.

Agreed, with Season 3 as a close second (though season 6 is my second-favorite season, I acknowledge that it's definitely not the second-best).

And outside of "Restless" and OMWF, you've also got "The Body," "Conversations with Dead People," "The Zeppo," "Hush," "Fool for Love," "Tabula Rasa," and a few others that are definitely better individually than any one episode in Season 2.

Alien Vs. Aliens : The Showdown Thread
Time

Yeah, they finally finished the "Workprint" cut of 3 for the Blu-Ray.  You don't feel like you're watching half a movie anymore - it could have been released in theaters that way in 1992.

Anyway, my vote is and always shall be for Alien.

Alien - 5
Aliens - 5

(as Frink was the last one to post a vote, I'm using his 4-5 count.  I agree that MJPollard's votes don't count.)

Finished BSG (again) the other night. Still haven't watched "The Plan" TV movie, so I've got a couple hours left with the fleet.

I wouldn't watch it.  A lot of people really hated the finale and thought it was "offensive" in some way (quoting my Science Fiction Studies prof here), but I thought "The Plan" was substantially worse and more "offensive" than the series finale.

GHOSTBUSTERS DVD CUSTOM COVERS
Time

This thread almost made my brain explode.  And I didn't even look at pages 2 and 3.

Dude, seriously, if you're going to show off your work, you are going to get people telling you what they think of it.  If you don't like that people might not agree with some of the choices you made in creating said work, then don't post work in a public forum for people to criticize!

yeah, don't know about BD-RB, but I'm also using meGUI on win7 64bit with no problems

DJ, another handy tool for MKV creation is mkvMerge.  It comes with the mkvtoolnix pack.  Its nice for muxing audio files into the mkv (like adding all the audio tracks you are working on).

mkvtoonix is fantastic - that's what I used to add all the PCM tracks I had to the MKVs I made of your V1 set, DJ.

I'm not sure if you can output an anamorphic mkv because there are a lot of players that don't recognise the anamorphic flag so would diplay it at the incorrect ratio.

For the record, my player can read the anamorphic flag correctly.  I don't know how common this is, though, so I'd probably follow Ady's advice.

Dark Knight Rises - Now that we know the cast
Time

Dude, Leonardo DiCaprio is one of my favorite actors working today!  He's been consistently good in everything he's done in about the past decade.  For proof, see:

  • Catch Me if You Can
  • Gangs of New York
  • The Aviator
  • Blood Diamond (though I'm not a giant fan of the movie itself)
  • The Departed
  • Revolutionary Road
  • Shutter Island
  • And, of course ... Inception

It seems like every time you post a new clip, someone has an issue with the audio, and you have to remind them that you won't work on audio until the video is completely done.  People have such short attention spans! ;-)

Sorry, what?

Just put "RTFM" in your signature or write a FAQ, I suppose. Not everyone spends every day on these forums.

Or you could, you know, read the YouTube video description.  But that's another thing no one ever seems to do.

I thought the whole point of making an MKV version was to be able to do it at the best possible quality without being forced into disc space requirements.  It really bugs me when I see people upload 1080p MKVs ... that are 4.3 GB.  They invariably look like shit, but hey, it can fit on a DVD-5, right?

I know it's not exactly the same thing with this (being that this won't be HD), but it would sadden me to think that the MKV's video quality was compromised just because some people burn their MKVs to DVD.

In fact, that seems especially pointless to me in this case.  If you're doing that, why not just download the DVD?!
