.: LeeThorogood's Original Trilogy Replica Technicolor Project :. (Released)
Time

Having not seen the resulting MKV, and basing all of this just on your HandBrake settings:

I'd go with a higher bitrate, or consider using the "Constant Quality" setting at around RF=20 or 18. (Note that using the CQ setting negates the need for two video passes.)

I'd also not make it anamorphic, as I know that can cause compatibility issues on some players. But this may not be a problem. (I, personally, always encode anamorphic, but that's mainly because I know that what I'll be watching them on can display it properly.)

Otherwise, it all looks right to me.

Believe it or not, I was trying to help you out. I don't think I was being rude at all. I was calling you out for being rude and impatient because people were taking too long to respond to you.

You really need to read your posts clearly before you post them. I read everything I type at least twice after I've finished typing it to make sure that, A) it makes sense, and B) I don't notice any spelling errors. I suggest you do the same.

If you have any more technical questions that I can answer for you, I'd be glad to help.

Is it just me or does the lightsabre at 9.38 ignite 2 times accoring to the sound? That can't be right, can it?

This is the case on the 1980 and 1993 audio mixes, too. Don't know if it's true for the SE as well, since I never watch it.

Adywan has said time and time again that he won't start on the audio until the video is done, so it makes sense that this error is still present at this stage.

Star Wars OT & 1997 Special Edition - Various Projects Info (Released)

For the Project Blu Version of ANH, is it possible to put seamless branching to show the 1981 crawl as well, possibly sourced from the 2004 SE HD broadcasts? Seamless branching has been done for other releases, such as Editdroid's and Mattmanomega's. Of course, I can understand if this would mess up the audio tracks or if it is too much work, so please understand that this is just an idea I had.

DJ could do this using the opening shot from the JSC V2 (color corrected and cropped to match, of course) - I've checked myself and it can be done, the frame counts are the same (from first frame with "STAR WARS" to first frame of shot #2, the reverse angle of the space fight).

kill bill the whole bloody affair ibleedspeed edit (Released)

I don't know anything about Vegas, but it's been my experience that it's easiest to split the 5.1 AC3 into six mono WAV files (being sure to label them L, C, R, Ls, Rs, and LFE, so you don't lose track of which channel is which), edit using those, then render the finished audio out as six mono WAV files, which you then combine into an AC3 file once again.

I can't help you much beyond that, 'cause I use a Mac and don't know squat about transcoding and video editing on a Windows platform.

first off the only way to get the subs in is to manually type each subtitle and sync them all visually. really? that is stupid that vegas does not support .sub or .srt

Yes, that's how you have to do it if you want them hard-coded. I don't know of any video editing software that will "support" .sub or .srt files, it just doesn't work that way.

You could go the mp4 route you described in your second post, but that will likely cause a loss in quality like you've described.

I think you've figured out your other issues you brought up, but frankly I couldn't tell, and I don't care.

Why, you ask? I coudln't tell because you don't break up your thoughts into paragraphs, you just let them run on and on and on, making it hard to figure out what you're saying. I erased my whole post and started over again because I saw the sentence(s) I quoted above right before I clicked "post."

I don't care because you're being an entitled, impatient jerk who expects everyone to magically solve his problems as soon as he posts about them, and bitches and moans when it takes too long.

Not everyone here is a fan editor, and not every fan editor here uses the program(s) you use (I don't, I've never touched Vegas). So there are actually not very many people here who can answer your questions. And even fewer will want to with the attitude you have.

Be more patient and nicer with your questions, and they'll get answered more quickly and more frequently.

And video editing can be tedious work. Don't dismiss something you have to do because it's "stupid." I've had to subtitle an entire film (movie was Spanish, subtitles had to be English) using the method you yourself described in the quoted text above. It kinda sucks, yeah, but it's part of the job, man.

"Doctor Who" (1996) at proper speed [AUDIO FINISHED; VIDEO SECOND PASS IN PROGRESS]
Time

Well, I've gotten a bit busy for one. For two, to be honest the second video pass is immeasurably more tedious than the first. I'm getting so sick of watching this movie.

So I took a break from it and decided to test to make sure I actually can upload a torrent. So I made a little side project for myself that's related to this one, as a matter of fact.

Search "Big Finish Eighth Doctor" on the Demonoid to see what that side project was. And, as it turns out, it only took me a day to seed six and a half gigs out to eight people!

So that means that this project will definitely be distributed via torrent, likely on Demonoid, since I know I can get that to work.

The book's ending is much less depressing than the movie's.

I have to say that, while I'm normally disappointed with the endings of Stephen King film adaptations, I'm glad The Mist's was changed. I like the movie's ending better.

And I definitely think the movie works better in black and white, too.

I dunno, I just couldn't stand Love & Monsters. It failed miserably for me. I can at least watch Fear Her, but after my first viewing I've never been able to make it very far past the opening credits of Love & Monsters.

I've started listening to the Big Finish 8th Doctor audios, starting with Storm Warning. The first 3 (SW, Sword of Orion, and Stones of Venice) were all very good, SoV being absolutely fantastic ... but man, does Minuet in Hell suck hard and I'm only halfway through it.

I urge you to finish Series 1. If you don't want to watch all of it, then please watch these episodes before you give up:

- Dalek (somewhat cheesy, but much less cheesy than almost any other Dalek episode)
- Father's Day
- The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances (my all-time favorite DW episode[s], VERY low on cheese)

I did finish series one, and have begun to appreciate the show a bit more. Funny, I actually liked Eccleston's Doctor a lot more than Tennant's, but I think the quality of the episodes in series two are a considerable jump in quality from series one and enjoy it much more now. I think Eccleston deserved some better episodes, kind of sad he wasn't in series two, but then again I don't think he could have pulled off Girl in the Fire Place (my favorite so far) quite the way Tennant did.

I actually didn't care much for Dalek, found it a bit on the dry side. Father's Day was a great concept, but really annoying in execution. The whole gargoyle thing was lame, and it is also stupid that he bounces around all over the time line saving lives without much consideration, but suddenly saving Rose's father has the potential to tear space and time apart at the seams. The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances was pretty good. At first I thought it seemed kind of silly, gas masks growing out of people and all, and had a hard time taking it seriously (after farting aliens, can you blame me?). But in the conclusion they actually gave it a really logically explanation.

I am about halfway through series two at the moment.

That's great news! One thing, though, since you're in Series 2 ...

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD AND ALL THAT IS HOLY, SKIP LOVE & MONSTERS.

It's terrible, the monster was (literally) created by a little kid, and it's Doctor/Rose-lite, meaning they're barely in it.

Also, be prepared for "Fear Her" to be pretty damn lame, as well, but it's better than "L&M."

Harmy's Return of the Jedi DVD cover
Time

Well, I have no plans to upload them anymore, as AvP has made his official companion to the Ady ESB recon cover, which is what mine was meant to be. (I actually took his and tweaked it just a little bit further to make it match a little more, but I also won't be posting that one).

Oh, and it's not like it'd be particularly hard to get rid of the text you were talking about, as it's on either a solid white or grey background. You could do that in Paint.

Star Wars coming to Blu Ray (UPDATE: August 30 2011, No! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!)
Time

Oh, fuck that set. I was so excited, because I could own the original versions in WIDESCREEN for the first time!

Then I bought it, put Star Wars in ... and watched in horror at the R2-in-the-valley scene, which was clearly the same as the special edition.

I only ended up watching those tapes in the future when I finally wore out my "Faces" set, and couldn't find replacements.

what is everyones musical influence and any musicans here
Time

I'm a guitarist/keyboardist as a hobby, in that I know that I'm not good enough to be part of a band, but I'm okay with that - I do it for fun, and as a stress reliever.

As far as influences, I'm a rock guy at heart, but I'm into more experimental types of music as well as calmer, gentler music.

Specific examples of people/bands that have influenced me - this is not the same as my favorite-bands list, though all of my favorite bands are on this list; there are even some bands on here that I don't particularly like or listen to anymore, but I know they've influenced how I play (Oasis is the best example of this). I also tried to put them in the order I discovered them, but I'm sure I didn't get that quite right:

The Who
The Beatles
Led Zeppelin
Queen
The Rolling Stones
The Doors
Pink Floyd
George Harrison
Jimi Hendrix
The Kinks
Tenacious D
The Polyphonic Spree
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Oasis
Secret Machines
Beck
Bob Dylan
David Bowie
Cream
ELO
The Flaming Lips
Radiohead
They Might Be Giants
Bob Marley

Umphrey's McGee
Arcade Fire
Dirty Projectors
Bedouin Soundclash
The Black Keys
Brian Eno
Philip Glass
Fleet Foxes
Grandaddy
Medeski, Scofield, Martin & Wood (all together and separately)
Simon & Garfunkel/Paul Simon
Mumford & Sons
