Ok, I had you on the wrong side of a very large country, so my bad…but you don’t get up until noon? Seriously?

If I didn’t have a second-shift schedule that made me get up at 10-10:30 each day (I work 12-10pm), my natural sleep cycle would fall somewhere from 3am-12pm or 4am-1pm. The only reason I don’t work third shift is the fact that it would completely kill what little social life I have. (Luckily the friends I have are all fellow night owls.)

Waking up earlier than 10am is my personal hell.

Honestly mfm, based on your posts about friends and relationships in this thread, you need professional help as well.

So I’m told. I don’t trust them though; they’ll probably just try to medicate me. Which I don’t need.

Don’t see a psychiatrist, see a psychologist or general therapist. They can’t prescribe medications. Even if you see a psychiatrist who can, if you tell them at the beginning that you don’t want to use medication except as an absolute last resort, a good shrink will listen.

Also don’t get discouraged if the first one you go to isn’t right for you. It can take time to find a therapist that fits your needs.

Which reminds me, I should probably call my old therapist and see if I can start going again…

Yes, to CA you must listen.

Californians are a bunch of damn hippies 😉

I am known to cause cancer in the state of California. But then again, what isn’t?

kk650's Miscellaneous Regraded Films (Released)
Time

Posted this in the FOTR EE regrade thread, figured it would be useful in here too:

Before tehparadox went down, someone posted fixed DTS files for kk650’s Two Towers and ROTK EE regrades that have a much less abrupt audio transition at the disc change points (which wasn’t an issue with FOTR). Now that tehparadox is gone, these are probably next to impossible to find. If anyone wants them, I still have them, just shoot me a PM.

I’m pretty happy with kk650’s regrade.

I have been getting shitfaced drunk a lot now and noticed that I will tremble a lot if I miss a day or two

This is a huge red flag. Tremors are a symptom of withdrawal, which means you already have a physical dependence, and it sounds like you have a psychological dependence as well. Stop drinking now, while you can without massive health and mental consequences.

Is Star Wars Your Favorite Movie?

Take the opening reel of The Adventures of Robin Hood, mix in the scene in Ben’s hut from Star Wars and the entire second half of Empire Strikes Back, a quiet scene of introspection from The Fountain, the swordfight from Princess Bride, the Balrog scene from Fellowship of the Ring, the testing of the fission bomb from Sunshine, and the final scene from The Matrix, and you have something approximating my favorite movie of all time.

See, Neverar gets it.

The Defenders.

Alright. Better than the back half of Luke Cage or the two episodes of Iron Fist I put myself through. The Hand are getting old, I hope we’re done with them now.

It basically functions as Daredevil season 3 guest starring Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Danny Rand, and friends, though, as opposed to its own thing like The Avengers did.

I’m still on the fence about Elektra, both from DD S2 and Defenders. Then again, I’ve never been a fan of the character, so I’m not sure if I expected her Netflix treatment to make me like her or not. I will admit that it may have something to do with how much Matt and Elektra’s relationship reminds me of mine with someone else (also doesn’t help that Elodie Yung looks so very similar to her), which isn’t super pleasant, but I dunno.

The best part about it for me was Jessica Jones, which isn’t much of a surprise since JJ S1 is still far and away my favorite of the Marvel Netflix shows to date. Krysten Ritter was on point the whole time, even if the writing was iffy now and again. (These team-up movies and shows seem to rely a little too heavily on quippy dialogue IMO, but Ritter sells it better than the rest.)

Finally, no spoilers, but I was pretty disappointed in Sigourney Weaver. She did as well a job as could be expected, but she was wasted on an incredibly boring villain.

But the pacing was better than most Marvel Netflix offerings, even if the last episode felt rushed, and I found myself enjoying it through to the end, despite the issues I had with it.

2.5 faceless ninjas out of 4.

(Also, why was The Hand going to destroy New York again? Didn’t seem necessary given what their goal ended up being…)

That’s kind of what I was talking about with self-fulfilling prophecies. If you start with the assumption that someone’s going to stab you in the back, you can easily see backstabbing and manipulation in many things that are actually benign.

Sure, a lot of people are like that, but most don’t care enough about anyone but themselves to bother with manipulating and backstabbing.

I personally prefer working at a smaller company, and moving to a larger one would require a few more years experience or some type of ASTM or ISO certifications in the equipment we use that I don’t know how to get (and my supervisors wouldn’t want to help me get said certs because that would mean they’d have to pay me more). Though honestly I intend to move to a higher-paying company once I have a year or so more experience anyway for higher pay than I’ll be able to get here.

But to be completely honest, I don’t know how to handle having more than 3-5 friends at a time. I’m bad at keeping in touch with people, and half the time when they try to get in touch with me I’m busy or not in a mood to spend time with anyone, and after a while they stop trying to contact me and the friendship dies off because I never contact them either. Keeping my friend circle smaller than 5 people means I can give all of them the attention they deserve - more than that and I feel like I’m sacrificing friend #4 to keep up with friend #6 and I don’t even know what’s going on with friend #5…

STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW

I was never confused by that line. I assumed it meant that Luke’s father was a famous Jedi and his last name was also Skywalker. The Emperor was afraid that the son of a notable, powerful Jedi (who, I further assumed, the Emperor would know to have been trained by Obi-Wan, who also trained Vader) could be powerful himself and pose a threat to the Empire.

I’m in a similar situation. Nobody’s friendly or if they are, they’re obnoxious, fake, and annoying. Not sure what to do. Thankfully I have some support structure with some very old friends, but we don’t do anything, have little in common, and it probably won’t last much longer. Anyway, good luck to both of you, I offer my support as well as a fellow isolated grump.

Oh man, that video…

Good luck to you as well, my friend. I’ve got a feeling one of my older friendships is on the way out, too. And I dread what will happen when either myself or my neighbors move. I constantly fear that 90% of our closeness is solely due to proximity…

That can be a self-fulfilling prophecy, though. There are people out there that don’t have malicious purposes, but if you’re always watching and waiting for the moment they “turn,” you can start to see it happening in things they do, say, and don’t say, when whatever it actually is is completely innocent. I’ve been guilty of that many times.

This same thing applies to many similar assumptions, too. I’ve come to expect nothing of people at all, and that has improved things tremendously for me. I mean, it may have made me a little numb emotionally, but so far that hasn’t been as bad as the loneliness was.

(As far as trust goes, I only truly trust one of my friends, and even then, only so far. Trust is difficult for me.)
