The Last Jedi: Official Review and Opinions Thread ** SPOILERS **
Time

I missed the reason Luke died on my first watch too, but it was pretty apparent on my second viewing.

I did clock that Luke wasn’t really there on Crait due to the shorter, less gray hair and beard, and the Graflex lightsaber (which we’d just seen destroyed in Snoke’s throne room). Then during the duel, he and Kylo never made physical contact at all, which sealed it for me.

So what’s going to happen for Revenge of the Sith? And good luck trying to turn the Clone Wars into one movie

For revenge of the sith I am going to replace count dooku with Darth mual at the beginning of the film. I have the battle front model, I have to learn how to animate 3d models using cenima 4D. for the clone wars should take no time just shifting some parts around

Woah Woah Woah replaceing count with maul? That technical impossible. I think…

3D anamation I’m going to remove count Dooku using after effects then animate Mual perfectly then add him back in with some new lines.
then during order 66 Anakin will kill dooku using clone wars footage.

I don’t how long this will take I have to learn cenima 4D

That’s…ambitious.

Has it not occurred to anyone that Kylo Ren might have been bullshitting Rey about her parents?
Why should we trust anything that Kylo Ren says?

I pondered this too and I kinda hope JJ Abrahams advises this in Episode 9. Basically states and reminds us that the Sith are deceitful. If anyone can do it then JJ can. Maybe he’ll bring Laurence Kasdan back on board.

When reading quotes from Rian Johnson he just seems to totally miss the point. He advises that he didnt’t want Rey to be part of the Skywalker blood line. Well duh, neither did most people…but how about making her Obi-Wan’s daughter. Thus linking up to a potential new spin off. Maybe JJ an swing the new script into that ark.

One other thing that Johnson said was that he wrote the script for The Last Jedi before TFA…and it shows sadly 😦 Cause every plot point in TFA is well and truly pissed up the wall.

He wrote it before TFA was released, not after TFA itself was written and filmed.

Making of Star Wars…

A Documentry on the making of Legacy Edition…

Mike Verta commentary…

Maybe a new restoration of the original teaser from 77…

Maybe some of the casts commentary aswell

Well, if you want to make a cover for something you probably won’t ever get your hands on with a bunch of hypothetical special features, be my guest, but I don’t think you’re going to get anyone else to make it for you.

I don’t presume to speak for phildesfr, but I think it’s highly likely that he’ll be fine with it.

You gave clear credit to him where credit was due when you posted the stuff you put together. Plus, the assets you used are ones he’s shared publicly.

In my humble opinion, it would seem you’re only doing what phildesfr was encouraging in the first place.

Exactly! I’m happy that the asset I shared are useful to many of you to design your own sets, so we can all materialize a more personal connection to these films.

Glad to hear it! And thanks again for making all of your assets available, that was awesome!

I do intend to make my prequel logos available on their own for people to use as well (they aren’t exactly identical to yours), but I want to try to figure out how to make them in vector format first, since it’s very helpful to not be locked into a set resolution on things like that.

Doctor Who
Time

I’m not sure why. In the US, a show is a series, and one year of episodes is a season, whereas in the UK, a show is a programme, and one year of episodes is a series.

Oddly, for Classic Who, they used season instead of series - perhaps “series” is a more recent thing over there? I dunno.

Star Wars Episode I: Cloak Of Deception (Released)

Cross-posting this from the DVD cover section, hope that’s okay - only gonna bump your Episode I thread though, not the other two, so as not to clutter up the front page. (ugh, that was too much Reddit-speak in one paragraph, sorry about that…)

Okay, whipped these up real quick - mods of my prequel covers for HAL9000’s edits (running times based on v4.2). … I figure either of the regular TFA covers I made would work for Restructured unless someone wants one that actually says “Restructured” on the case somewhere, or wants the FE logos and stuff on the back.

Album here. (“theatrical logo” spines only; the “saga logo” spines are ready to go if anyone wants them, I just haven’t saved them as JPEGs yet)

Okay, whipped these up real quick - mods of my prequel covers for HAL9000’s edits (running times based on v4.2). If anyone wants modified covers with new titles for different edits, let me know and I’ll see what I can do (if you already have a title logo for me to use that’d be ideal). I figure either of the regular TFA covers I made would work for Restructured unless someone wants one that actually says “Restructured” on the case somewhere, or wants the FE logos and stuff on the back.

The Last Jedi : a Fan Edit <strong>Ideas</strong> thread
Time

Best way is a two-pronged approach - editing VII so it ends with Rey and Chewie taking off on the Falcon, and moving VII’s final scenes of them landing on Ahch-To to VIII, at which point you can open the film with those scenes or with some Resistance stuff and then to the Jedi Steps scenes. A new crawl can imply some time having passed, and we can assume the journey to Ahch-To was a pretty long one more easily when the takeoff is in one film and the landing is in another.

Just wanted to pop in and say, first of all, amazing work on all of these, they’re some of my favorite custom sets around!

Secondly, thank you for making so many of your assets available separately along with your sets. It’s a great help to many of us, both people who are just starting out in this stuff and those of us who’ve been out of it for a little while and don’t have a lot of our source materials still intact. That’s been a big help in me getting back into the custom cover game.

I posted my newest set in the main BD cover thread - they’re highly derivative of your set and use many of the assets you’ve provided, so if you feel they’re too similar to your work, please let me know and I’ll happily take the links down.

Love your work on these, they look great, and I have more than a little nostalgia for the early-90s VHS set, so those yellow logos really scratch that itch without the covers themselves being overly slavish to being duplicates of the originals.

One note on the other set that is more of a direct recreation of the CBS/FOX set: the spine for ESB has the title misspelled - “Strikes” shouldn’t have a C in it.

Oh, and those inserts and disc labels are beautiful.
