Agnostic atheist here who was raised Episcopalian and was an altar boy for years in his youth.

Something people tend to miss about Christianity is that the whole point of Jesus was to sacrifice himself to absolve humans of the sins and laws described in the Old Testament.

So the adherence of many “fundamentalist” Christians too the laws set down in the Old Testament seems ridiculous to me. In my mind, they ignore the most fundamental teachings of Christ, and if you do that, why claim to be Christian at all?

(Sorry, in a weird place right now, otherwise I’d just be avoiding this topic entirely.)

Still up. At her apartment when I shouldn’t be, doing stuff I should be avoiding (hence the still awake). She randomly decided to go take a shower. Should be encoding audio for HAL (sorry buddy, I only have one left to do, you’ll have them all tomorrow). I know what we are and I wish I were more so I keep letting this happen. I need to stop.

I can’t.

Ugh.

I raise the point to show how inconvenient and even dangerous protections of liberty can be.

I think the existence of the second amendment and the way it’s been interpreted is a pretty solid showcase of this as well.

I think we’re getting to a good place where Frink wants to arm white supremacist teachers and I want to repeal the 1st Amendment.

I thought Frink was joking… ? Not sure if you are but I guess you aren’t, so… ?

99.8% sure both are joking.

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION

Understandable, and I think Adywan is on the same page as you for ANH:R:HD. I might just do my own version of the audio track with the March inserted for myself.

It’s not that I don’t think it fits - the imperial march fits perfectly imo for the Death Star reveal - but it takes away from the first time we hear it in ESB.

Regarding Battle of the Heroes, I don’t really think it fits at all.

I actually agree with both of these, but in the context of the entire saga (yes, even the prequels…) it’s odd that the March is completely absent from Episode IV.

Obviously the best solution to this is to give her a gun while she’s teaching.

That would be a bad idea. We do have a horrible 1st Amendment that allows her to do her podcast without repercussions like being fired. Time to repeal that amendment too? Maybe we can avoid that problem in this case if she expressed these statements in school (as she said she did and lied to the principal) or discriminates against students. But do we ever want white supremacists in our schools?

She can totally be fired for that, can’t she? Just not jailed or legally barred from making and distributing her podcast?

Still no.

The idea should be that someone says something serious in the context of another conversation that sounds ridiculous in isolation. A one-off play on a Futurama quote doesn’t do that.

Agreed, though I don’t think it needs to be confined to OT.com posts (but that would be preferable).

Oh man, Mindor is so good! One of my absolute favorite SW novels.

Without going into spoiler territory too much, there’s a framing device that means you theoretically could work it into canon if you wanted to. For a slightly more spoilery explanation as to how that can be (you don’t really understand that this is the case until the end of the book, but I still consider it a fairly light spoiler):

It’s told by an unreliable narrator.

But yeah, I can never recommend Mindor enough.

I think it’d be neat to have two “fixed” versions of the TLJ Yoda scene for fan editors to use as sources - one that fixes the mouth to be ESB/ROTJ puppet-accurate, and one that additionally “fixes” the mouth movements a la Adywan’s ESB:R.

If I was any decent at that kind of stuff I’d do it myself, but sadly I’m shit at animation/motion graphics type stuff (that was the only film/video class I failed in college).

I’ve read both. In fact, I read Mindor right after Truce.

There’s small references early in the book. That’s it. Mindor is very standalone, you don’t need to read any other EU to get it (though apparently one or two characters from Stover’s prequel-era books appear in Mindor, but I haven’t read any of those and wasn’t lost or confused).
