Actually the show holds up pretty well for the most part. Seasons 3-5 in particular.
It’s after Fight the Future that things started to go off the rails, particularly with seasons 7, 9, IWTB, and the revival.
Season 8 is a surprising breath of fresh air though, so if you remember hating it at the time because of the Duchovny stuff, it’s worth a revisit. And the finale works very well as a series ending IMO.
Season 9 is just as bad as you remember, though.
Yeah, Anderson’s been saying she’s out since before the season started airing, and Carter’s been saying that he’s willing to keep going without her.
Fuck it, I don’t care. The show ended with “Existence” (end of season 8), and no one will ever be able to convince me otherwise.
I’d say that the most satisfying aspect was seeing Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher in character again. I didn’t like the death of Han Solo at all and it ruined a lot of what I did enjoy about the movie, but overall I think it was one of the better Harrison Ford performances in the last twenty years.
I agree, I thought he turned in a great performance. And I didn’t think she had much of anything to do in TFA but I really liked her in TLJ.
I also agree with both of these posts (except about Han’s death, I thought that was perfectly executed [heh] and was necessary for the story).
My one major complaint is that the political situation is sketched too lightly. I’m an EU guy, so I’m personally well aware of what’s going on, but if I was just going off the movies I wouldn’t have any sense of that wider context.
Actually, come to think of it, this right here is the most disappointing to me. I’d be okay with the rebels 2.0 vs. Empire 2.0 situation if it were adequately explained, but it isn’t unless you want to dive into EU material like Aftermath 1-3 and Bloodline. Which I have, but I shouldn’t have needed to in order to understand what the hell is happening in the galaxy.
I also disagree that TFA Kylo and TLJ Kylo feel any different, but I can’t say the same for Hux. Felt like they pulled a “Last Crusade” Marcus Brody on him for TLJ.
I guess I always preferred Brody in TLC too.
Really? Brody’s character assassination was always one of the big reasons why TLC was my least favorite (until Crystal Skull came along, that is).

My 1080p copies of V5 work just fine for the record, so yeah, I’m going with “probably a corrupted download.”
That’s way too much foot
I like my S7 just fine. It has an SD card slot, which they initially ditched for the S6.
Don’t know anything about the S8 or newer, though. And I still liked my Moto X better than the Samsungs - dunno what Motorola’s got out at the moment, but that might be worth looking into.
I miss my Moto X. 😦
Most disappointing is the decision to go back to a ragtag rebels versus oppressive empire style of story. It would have been much more interesting for the remnants of the Empire to be the small guerilla group fighting the established New Republic.
Most satisfying would be the new characters, especially Rey, Poe, and Kylo Ren.
Are you planning on fixing the TFA scar shots to match TLJ, or the other way around? Because one of those things sounds much more difficult than the other…
You keep saying there was a grand plan while making TFA that Johnson threw out for TLJ, but using Poe as an example is kind of shooting yourself in the foot…
…because Poe was supposed to die in the TIE fighter crash on Jakku until production on the film was well underway.
Unfortunately, the current political climate (white house, senate, congress - and soon the supreme court) is to deregulate everything, especially the internet, so that mega-billionaires can become as rich as possible. That is not compatible with requiring companies to waste their time with annoyances like protecting consumers’ personal data.
Ugh…fucking this…
With this post, I have now 20774 posts to my name.
now that’s a lot
Shit, Frink’s got over 75k…
I think some of you guys would enjoy reading The Secret History of Star Wars by Kaminski.
He was a poster here before he published the book if I remember correctly. Though I can’t recall his username or if he’s been around much since.
http://originaltrilogy.com/user/zombie84/id/2362 Hasn’t posted in a few years I don’t think.
Love that book, by the way.
Yeah, I found him and edited my comment while you were writing yours, it seems 😉

JEDIT: It was zombie84 - sadly seems like he hasn’t been around in a while.
6,587 for me. Somehow that’s lower than I expected…
GTA IV had the best story imo.
Too bad it was stuck behind a lot of shitty gameplay mechanics.
GTAV is the only GTA I’ve ever actually finished.

He keeps telling Kylo he’s “toit like a tiger,” which eventually irritates Kylo enough to kill him.
Not really comparable. If ESB ended with Leia in Boushh disguise walking up to frozen Han, then cut to credits, it’d be roughly analogous to the ending of TFA.
Excellent choice!
