Actually the show holds up pretty well for the most part. Seasons 3-5 in particular.

It’s after Fight the Future that things started to go off the rails, particularly with seasons 7, 9, IWTB, and the revival.

Season 8 is a surprising breath of fresh air though, so if you remember hating it at the time because of the Duchovny stuff, it’s worth a revisit. And the finale works very well as a series ending IMO.

Season 9 is just as bad as you remember, though.

Most Disappointing / Satisfying Aspect of the Sequel Trilogy?

I’d say that the most satisfying aspect was seeing Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher in character again. I didn’t like the death of Han Solo at all and it ruined a lot of what I did enjoy about the movie, but overall I think it was one of the better Harrison Ford performances in the last twenty years.

I agree, I thought he turned in a great performance. And I didn’t think she had much of anything to do in TFA but I really liked her in TLJ.

I also agree with both of these posts (except about Han’s death, I thought that was perfectly executed [heh] and was necessary for the story).

My one major complaint is that the political situation is sketched too lightly. I’m an EU guy, so I’m personally well aware of what’s going on, but if I was just going off the movies I wouldn’t have any sense of that wider context.

Actually, come to think of it, this right here is the most disappointing to me. I’d be okay with the rebels 2.0 vs. Empire 2.0 situation if it were adequately explained, but it isn’t unless you want to dive into EU material like Aftermath 1-3 and Bloodline. Which I have, but I shouldn’t have needed to in order to understand what the hell is happening in the galaxy.

I also disagree that TFA Kylo and TLJ Kylo feel any different, but I can’t say the same for Hux. Felt like they pulled a “Last Crusade” Marcus Brody on him for TLJ.

I guess I always preferred Brody in TLC too.

Really? Brody’s character assassination was always one of the big reasons why TLC was my least favorite (until Crystal Skull came along, that is).

Unfortunately, the current political climate (white house, senate, congress - and soon the supreme court) is to deregulate everything, especially the internet, so that mega-billionaires can become as rich as possible. That is not compatible with requiring companies to waste their time with annoyances like protecting consumers’ personal data.

Ugh…fucking this…

I think some of you guys would enjoy reading The Secret History of Star Wars by Kaminski.

He was a poster here before he published the book if I remember correctly. Though I can’t recall his username or if he’s been around much since.

http://originaltrilogy.com/user/zombie84/id/2362 Hasn’t posted in a few years I don’t think.

Love that book, by the way.

Yeah, I found him and edited my comment while you were writing yours, it seems 😉
