What can a Newbie do to help?
Time

Well, if you'd like, you could download the latest Project Threepio and take a look through the Dutch subtitles for typos, errors, etc.  I'm not so much interested in preserving any particular translation (these may have changed over time), just maintaining a good quality translation overall.

The quality should already be pretty good since they're from the GOUT.  Still, errors can creep in via OCR and other things, and occasionally even the official subtitles make some odd translation choices, and I don't mind changing them in those cases.

A simple "Yes, these are fine" is still useful information to me.  Click the Project Threepio image in my signature to go to the Project Threepio discussion thread.

Star Wars premieres in China four decades late

Poor China, deprived for so long and you know what version was likely shown. =(

If nothing else, it increases the chances of official Mandarin dubs for the OT, which would be cool (you know, once despecialized and synced to the good versions).  If anyone sees a lead on this front, let me know.

I couldn't find an OOT screencap of that shot. And I knew someone was going to harp on that. ;)

Not trying to go for a cheap shot, just saying all nations have a way to go in terms of preserving their history for future generations.  The US may save their space history, but they allow their film history to be burned.

Star Wars Posters - In the style of other movies (And LP mashups too)

Oh, but you are right in that there was nothing at all Star Wars-related in my original Puggo image, and that hardly fits the theme.  So I've edited the original image and now there's a small Star Wars element in there that oddly doesn't seem too out of place at Battersea.  I think it has to be pretty subtle to avoid detracting from the whole.

Project Threepio (Star Wars OOT subtitles)

To address what I feel has been a longstanding lack of official preservation-themed T-shirt availability in this forum, I'll be including some high-res images for just that purpose in the next version of Project Threepio.

Obviously the "official" designs will be specific to this project, but I've also made two unofficial designs for other projects that have been given the thumbs-up by their respective owners for me to distribute.  Low-resolution previews available here:

Please keep in mind that lots of commercial printing outfits will balk at anything that looks too much like an infringing image, so I can't guarantee every design will be easy to actually get printed--my new punk rock Project Threepio logo seems to be the hardest one to do so far.

^^ Yeah cool. The more obscure the better.

I may have to dig pretty deep.  I haven't found a suitable cover for Puggo yet.  Obscure helps in the commercial printing department--some of these words and images are well-known enough that they could be rejected on infringement grounds.

Hope I’m not derailing the thread, because I’ve been working on a slightly different kind of mashup–creating LP/Star Wars mashup images for some of our favorite preservation projects.

“Too much alteration running through each frame/Too much alteration driving me insane”

“I have found, I have cleaned, I have scanned these dirty reels/Yeah, that’s really great, I can’t believe I did it, but nevertheless, I have done that for you.” -or- “These guys are from Dantooine and who gives a shit!”

“Star Wars showing in a faraway land/Semoga Force bersama dengan kalian”

Unless the respective project maintainers object, I’ll include much higher-res versions of these (suitable for T-shirts and whatnot) in my next Project Threepio release.

If you’re not familiar with any of these, click the image to go to the Wikipedia article about the original.  The middle one’s kinda obscure–I didn’t use the collective team_negative1 identity because it didn’t blend as well.
