STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

Call me crazy, but I actually like the so-called "matte-ness" of Vader's ANH helmet; it's kinda cool. If you're looking for an in-universe explanation, then who's to say his helmet doesn't receive upgrades over the years? And maybe those upgrades differ slightly from each other in appearance. Or maybe he has different helmets for different purposes.

Or maybe--just maybe--there's no explanation for it all, in which case I still don't really care. It's not a big deal. It's a different movie, shot at a different time and by a crew with fewer resources and experience than the one that worked on its sequels. There is no issue with the costume, and none of the (brilliant) shots in which it appears need to be reshot.

Just my two cents =P

I'm wondering...isn't anyone worried about Lucasfilm filing a copyright infringement case here? Did anybody get permission to edit this film which is the property of someone else? Last time I checked, it was a punishable offense to alter a motion picture without permission and is enforced by Interpol? You guys are playing with fire here.

It's sort of a gray area, but we try our best to be reasonable with it--the fan editors here at OT.com never make a profit from their work and have always strongly encouraged others to legally purchase a copy of any and all films that they download fan edits of.

On a personal note, I've been a huge Star Wars fan since I was five. I've purchased TPM and both the original unaltered trilogy and the '97 special edition on VHS, all three prequels on DVD, both the box set and individual releases of the original trilogy on DVD, and the complete saga blu-ray box set. That's not even taking into account the piles of money I've spent on buying Star Wars toys, video games, t-shirts, costumes, and countless other collectibles over the years. In other words, Lucasfilm has made their money from me, and will continue to do so; neither this nor any other fan edit is interfering with that. I therefore feel no guilt in downloading fan edits for my own personal viewing, and I think the majority of us here feel more or less the same.

An idea I had:

New music to make the jedi more mystical and it also makes a great connection with the OT.

I think this works out very nicely. You're right--it adds both a sense of the mysticism to the Jedi and an OT feel to the scene as a whole. Did you have to time it to match up the Jedi lowering their hoods with the sound of the harp, or did it just work out that way? Either way, it's brilliant.

On a related note, I'm not sure how you're planning to cut this scene in your final edit, but I'll say that I missed the shot of the Republic cruiser landing in the hangar bay, probably because it was one of the few ships in the prequels that looked like it would fit nicely into the OT (I believe it was fashioned after the Tantive IV design). Anyway, just a thought. Otherwise, this is great.

I timed the harp to be at the exact time when they lower their hoods so they could be reveal the same way Ben Kenobi was revealed in ANH.

I think the pace does better without the ship's landing scene, it slows down the sequence but I do agree that the ship is one of the most closest looking to an OT one. Especially because I believe this is a minature and not CG. But I don't like the shot of the droids looking at them because there are this droids in the background that are also fighters, and they use their wings to walk. I think it's to much. I'm still not sure but if I can get these droids out of the background I might put the sequence back in but for now it'll be this way.

I'm glad you liked it, thank you.

Yeah, I hate the droid fighters walking on their wings, too. It's not a big deal or anything; the scene is certainly fine without this shot, but I'd still love to see it--it's probably one of the few ships landing/docking shots of the PT that's worth saving. =P

Here is new clip with Qui-Gon's death scene. I added new music and took out references of the chosen one.

I know that you can still here a tad of the original music but I'm having trouble taking it out of the center channel. Any suggestions on how to take it out would be extremly appreciated.

VERY nice! =)

I have to say... the Mr. Adrian thing is driving me nuts. :P

Me too. I alluded to it in a joke I made a few pages back. I was hoping he might take my hint without me or anybody else having to sound... well, mean.

Sure hope not.

Agreed. Adywan's work has always been of a higher caliber than this. Where did you find this, anyway, Titus? It was posted to a rather newly registered Vimeo account, and the user hasn't posted any other videos, information, or external links. It's all a bit mysterious, really. =)

I just hope it doesn't take a long time, but I guess beggars can't be choosey. Lol.

If I had to guess, I'd say that it IS going to take a long time. Remember, many people consider ESB a near-perfect film, and yet look how long ESB:R is taking. Then consider the fact that Ady will probably want to take a much-deserved break once he's finally finished with it (and will most likely do the same after each film he completes), the fact that the he's still got ROTJ:R ahead of him (an even bigger challenge, I'd say), and the HD version of ANH:R after that. Then, finally, consider that Ady has said that the PT edits will be even more extensive than those of the OT and that he hopes to make them almost unrecognizable. In other, they're going to take a LOT of work. I know the phrase "you get what you pay for" doesn't exactly fit here, but I'll offer an alternative: "you get what you wait for"; after all, good things come to those who wait, right? We've got to be patient.

Yes. Im sorry for offending you aalenfae. I didnt mean to disrespect your work. I thought that everyone here had a goal of working with Mr Adywan. You seem to have a total different perspective. Im sorry im trying to see how things work here :-) Again my appologies and keep up the very good work you are doing.

Sorry, Titus! I didn't mean to imply that you had said something wrong. Don't take anything I say too seriously--I certainly don't!

Anyway, you're new, right? Welcome! To give you a brief explanation of "how things work here," the fan edit forums here at OT.com are full of fan editors who dedicate themselves to re-editing Star Wars (and other) films to conform to their own personal tastes, which range from highly conservative to extremely radical. Adywan, though he has produced some fantastic work, made quite a name for himself, and has undoubtedly inspired several others, is just one of those fan editors. I guess one of the problems with being a longtime follower of any forum is that you start to take things for granted... perhaps that's what I did. Anyway, again, welcome!

Awesome!

The color correction is awesome, the new sky behind the Slave I's landing platform looks fantastic, and I love--ABSOLUTELY LOVE--that Leia's line about trusting Lando (around 2:52) has been restored to pre-SE completion! Music to my ears!

Thanks, Ady! =)
I'm not sure how many time Ady can say its just the GOUT audio. ;-)

He said it was "temp" audio; I wasn't aware that he meant "GOUT" audio, especially since I thought I noticed a sort of jump cut in the music (though I certainly may have imagined it)--I figured he'd made some change or another. Either way, though, still nice to actually hear the line! =P

The Fall of the Jedi Trilogy (Released)

I agree that R2 should be recolored if possible. Otherwise, it just looks too much like R2-D2. I mean, I'm pretty sure we don't see any other blue, dome-topped astromechs throughout the entire saga. I'll also say, however, that I personally don't see any problem with it actually being R2. It's C-3PO's backstory as one of Anakin's childhood projects that bothers me most, so I'm satisfied so long as that's taken care of.

Although I have to admit that I'm not a fan of the "this is going to be easy" line, I must say that your preview looks truly fantastic. Well done. It's amazing what a difference the classic music and sound effects make, and, in regard to that, I think you make some excellent decisions and incorporated them well. Bravo! I can't wait to see more!

This may sound a bit crazy, and I realize that we're not at this point yet, but have we ruled out using old fashioned mail? For those members who find it difficult to obtain the edit online, perhaps a mail tree could be coordinated? So, for example, one person (with access) would copy the edits onto a physical medium (CDs, DVDs, Blu-Rays, flash drives... whatever) and mail it another. The recipient would then copy the files from the medium before sending it along to the next person in line, and so on and so forth. It's slow, of course, but there it is.
Sounds a lot like "Pay It Forward", which is one method of distribution. But like you said, we're not there yet.

Ah yes! "Pay it forward!" That's the phrase I was looking for.
