Magister Pontifex MaximusBut now you have you will never un-notice it again.
The Sarlacc has always been a bit of a problem for me.
In the OUT it's just there, a bit sexually worrying for a family film but practically motionless and a bit Sixties Doctor Whoesque and then they added the beaked penis in the SE which made it more animated less real feeling, and there just as unthreatening.
The dog attack in The Thing would be a good touchstone for the creature.
Keep the gaping maw but have it squirmy and get those tentacles and tendrils to do all the work.
That would also make it look less like a baby Arrakian sandworm yawning.
Say goodbye, to all this and "hello" to Jason Issacs.

lastjedihas anyone mentioned the scene where leia describes her mother while talking to luke?she says she remember her being very beautiful but very sad.obviously this needs to be cut or fixed since the newborn babies were taken from padme when she died.so leia couldn't have any memory of her mother like she said in rotj.you think lucas would have remembered this when making rots.it sure would have been nice seeing padme with her baby run from the clone troops trying to get her baby for the emperor.i think padme should have died being captured and tortured by the emperor after a year or 2 with her baby.the emperor trying to make her tell him where the baby is.

That's been extensively covered, yes. Folks around here would rather alter ROTS so that Padme doesn't die than alter ROTJ to remove the line. It's doable.

Magister Pontifex MaximusI was remembering the documentary footage of the background elements being filmed for the speederbike chase the other day.
There might be an opportunity there to make the Endor moon seem more alien if it they were redone in the same way but with perhaps some odd objects thrown in there like animal skulls which would scale up to being much bigger than they really are and wizz by so fast that the audience wouldn't be able to get a firm visual grip on them.

Greetings everyone.
Just want to contribute to the ROTJ wishlist. Hopefully all you wonderful fan-editors out there (especially Adywan, haha) could consider these ideas (alas, I have no experience in doing edits). I also posted this wishlist in the starwarsrevisited facebook page under the name "ben panced" (which is why Adywan is mentioned in the list):
1. Title crawl: Depends on Adywan (use original or create new crawl)
2. Pan down to Death Star 2.0 orbiting Endor. Hope Adywan could extend this scene to show the Executor and more Star Destroyers & other Imperial ships orbiting the forest moon.
3. Shuttle carrying Vader leaving the Executor heading towards Death Star.
4. Cut: the dialogue btwn control officer and the shuttle (they already know it's Vader on board. Why ask for code?). Just show the shuttle entering and landing.
5. If technologically possible, add more stormtroopers and Imperial personnel welcoming Vader's arrival.
6. Conversation with the Commander.... (what do u guys think, should his line "I need more men" be cut? Just sounds creepy, haha. Just kidding).
7. Biggest Wish #1: Again, if possible, add the deleted scene where Vader enters his chamber and uses the Force to contact and tempt Luke to the Darkside. Then it shows Luke finishing the construction of his new lightsaber.
8. Insert Dagobah/Yoda death scene here. Many have argued over whether to cut Yoda's confirmation that Vader is Luke's father as well as Obi-Wan's scene. Let's just leave that to Adywan. Personally, I would keep those scenes.
9. Show Luke leaving Dagobah.
10. Arrival of Emperor scene. Again, maybe Ady could extend the scene to show more ships.
11. Show Luke approaching Tattooine.
12. Operation Rescue Scruffy Looking Nerf Herder scenes, har har. Show 3P0 & R2 heading towards Jabba's Palace. This next few scenes are a little tricky. A lot has been discussed on how the rescue takes place. Some say that Leia and Chewbacca are already captives of Jabba. Some say keep the original scenes. Others say cut the Rancor scene. I say: Let Adywan decide, har har.
13. Luke arrives at Jabba's Palace. Cut: Luke Force choking the Gamorean guards (very Darksidey). Go straight to Luke Mind-Tricking Bib Fortuna. Again, depends on Adywan as to what takes place from here on.
14. Sail Barge scenes. Agree with Adywan, give Boba Fett a better and awesome death scene.
15. Cut: Falcon and X-Wing splitting up and Luke telling R2 they're going to Dagobah.
16. Biggest Wish #2: Maybe Adywan could create a new scence showing Luke and Gang arriving at the Rebel fleet "massing near Sullust". Would really love to see Ady include the planet and Rebel fleet.
17. Rebel Briefing Scene. Probably could bring forward the scene where Luke enters (without saying "I'm with you too") and hugs Leia and she asks him "What's wrong?/Ask again sometime". Greets Han & Chewie. For me this makes more sense as this is the first time they meet up together after the rescue.
18. Briefing by Mon Mothma, Admiral Ackbar and General Nadine...sorry...Madine.
19. Agree with others to cut Han's more cheesy/corny lines.
20. Han & Lando scene: Definitely need to alter the background. Maybe Ady could also improve/extend the view of the hangar bay. Cut: Han's "I want you to take her. I mean in take her. You need all the help u can get she's the fastest ship in the fleet." Go straight to Lando's "All right ol' buddy, I know what she means to you......." so that we jump to the middle of their conversation.
21. Show them leaving the fleet (probably have them fly past several cruisers, just to show more of the Rebel fleet) and then jump to hyperspace.
22. CUT: Vader and Palp scene: "Send the fleet to the far side of Endor........." until the end of the scene.
23. CUT: Whole shuttle approach scene. I always felt that this scene didn't seem logical. If they "stole" the shuttle don't you think the Imperials could scan & identify it despite its 'disguise'. Not to mention using an "older code". Besides, why would they choose a direct approach to get to the shield generator?
24. Biggest Wish #3: If possible, Adywan could instead create a scene which shows the shuttle coming out of lightspeed & sneaking into Endor from the other side/far side. That's why I suggested cutting the the scene in no.22 above. Of course cutting the original shuttle approach scene would also affect the whole Luke sensing Vader, Vader sensing Luke thing, but I'm sure it could be re-worked in another way or in another scene.
25. Move CUT scene no.22 here. Reason: the Emperor is of course aware that the Rebels have sneaked into Endor (he let them). Now the Emperor sets his plans into motion by moving the fleet to the far side of Endor as a trap for the Rebel fleet. And since Luke & Co sneaked in "before" the Imperial fleet moved to the far side, they are also not aware of the impending trap for the Rebel fleet.
25a. Biggest Wish #4: Now comes the tricky part: Mixing and re-working this scene with the scene where Vader informs the Emp that a small Rebel force has landed on Endor....his son is with them.....blah blah blah. My suggestion for this scene:
Vader: "What is thy bidding my Master?"
Palp: "Send the fleet to the far side of Endor. There it will stay until called for."
Vader: "A small rebel force has (CUT: ...penetrated the sheild and..) landed on Endor." "My son is with them." (Obviously Vader sensed it because Luke was on board).
Palp: "Yes I know." "Then you must go to the Sanctuary Moon and await him."
Vader: "He will come to me?"
Palp: "I have forseen this. His compassion for you will be his undoing. He will come to you and then you will bring him before me." "Soon the rebellion be will crushed and young Skywalker will be one of us."
(Optional) Vader: "As you wish."
.............to be continued...................

In ESB, I've always thought the moment in the Bespin duel when Vader pushes Luke to the ground on the bridge looked rather awkward. I know it's impossible to do, but I think a close up behind Luke's back facing/slightly looking up at Vader would make that a lot clearer. The current angle is so far away that it's hard to tell what's going on, they just kind of stand still for a moment and Luke randomly falls. Plus the sudden lack of lightsaber sounds makes the silence a bit awkward as well.
All in my opinion, of course.

Just watched ROTJ... and I know this is probably drastic, but honestly, I don't think their is really much reason to have Leia be Luke's sister at all.... may also make future edits of the prequel trilogy easier to justify her "remembering" Padme as well.
And also keeping in mind future edits of the Prequels... if it is indeed concealed that Anakin and Vader are one in the same, obviously the transformation scene would have never been seen. When Yoda confirms that Vader is Lukes father, perhaps have a Luke with a "force flashback" to the scene of Palpatine saving Anakin and transforming him, and verifying to luke the truth..

Magister Pontifex MaximusI've been thinking again... sorry.
A while back I proposed the idea that the circular star map things in the briefing room lower during the Endor battle and the room becomes a functional war room (instead of just a few guys looking at the hologram table).
With the room being circular it might be possible to make a single triangular module (with some monitors, buttons and controls etc) man it with a seated actor in a headset, film it, then rotate it or film it from another angle with a different actor and composite the footage together until the circle around the hologram table is filled with activity.
That way you would get the impression of a massive set redress with just one small prop and a selection of actors.
Say goodbye, to all this and "hello" to Jason Issacs.

Which would open things up for a much better "Birth of Vader" type scene. More spiritual and akin to a knighting ceremony than the scientific "operating table" scene that we DID get....

EDIT: Obviously Vader would already be partially in costume so that we have no idea that it is Anakin...and the knighting ceremony would just be Palpy formally giving him his Darth name....the "force lift" lowering of his helmet shroud (like in the painting) would be a nice touch though...

Magister Pontifex MaximusAs a follow up to my earlier comment, I've been recently been rewatching NuGalactica and I noticed on the CIC they have these little tower consoles.

They are very simple (basically a metal frame with a few lights etc) but they are effective as background detail.
Just one object of a similarly simple design photographed from different angles could be put in the empty areas which served as seating in the briefing scene and with the lowered map circles and you would have a very effective war room.
Especially with staff and the holotable working away.
Say goodbye, to all this and "hello" to Jason Issacs.

Magister Pontifex MaximusA wacky ROTJ edit idea entered my febrile mind so I thought I'd put it here.
I call it the Legend of Zelda ending.
When Vader dies his ghost appears as Jake Lloyd's Anakin and he gets into a ghost Naboo fighter and delivers the final blow to the Death Star reactor allowing Lando and Wedge more time to escape.
Told you it was wacky but a spooky child ghost could work with the right wonky break in tone.
For all his faults Lloyd's Anakin represents Luke's father before he became a child murdering strop and was just some wide eyed goofy kid.
Obviously this isn't an idea destined to rock everyone's boat but if it could be done it would be a fun alternate ending.
Say goodbye, to all this and "hello" to Jason Issacs.

enthusiastFor people who have seen Dark Knight Rises, has seeing the film inspired any radical ideas for an awesome unlikely ROTJ?
I floated the idea a while back about having it set much later:
The Empire now on the backfoot, and the alliance is a formidable opponent.
The kickstarter for the plot would be when the civilian population manage to miraculously overthrow the ruling powers on Coruscant temporarily, giving the rebels a reluctant foothold there. Literally every rebel personel is required to just hold off the constant imperial attacks.
They find the plans for the death star 2 on coruscant, as well as the location of the emperor who fled the capital in time. A small force is sent to attack it, etc. The additional twist would be that the Emperor intended for Coruscant to be overthrown so all the rebel eggs would be in one big basket for him to come and blow up (its a BIG trap!).
I was trying to figure out a subplot that would drag the droid army into it. There would need to be bunch load of extra footage and characters created (various rebel troops and generals etc).
I like the idea that Luke might have just gone missing straight away after ESB, and would have been on dagobah for years. If there was a beard filter on after effects I'd use that too.

We want the originals, please restore them.this is my first post on this forum.but I posted this on the ESB:R page so now i'm putting it on this page to be on topic.Adywan, can you and you team combine both Anakins Ghost in ROTJ:R? 1/4 Hayden and 3/4 Sebastian.
You don't need to do this It's simply a Question.
Do You Think We Should Make a Petition for the O.U.T To Be Restored at https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/ Website?

"This is a film by a filmmaker desperately in love with filmmaking" - Harold KnowlesI love how just the visual of a beard or facial hair can connotate a long passage of time.
I still think that you could just cut out Vader's arrival in the beginning of JEDI and just start with C3P0 and R2 walking up to Jabba's palace, and leave the reveal of the Death Star 2 when the Emperor arrives. Vader's arrival to the DS2 adds nothing and is redundant, as we're reintroduced to the DS2 with the Emperor.
Now what you do with the rest of the editing is the next question. I think THE WAR OF THE STARS has some really interesting ideas throughout (one way one could include the "raid on the bunker" scene is have it on a screen with the Emperor, Vader and/or Luke watching - thus a way to deal with the limited resolution as well as show Luke/the audience that the Emperor is not just one step ahead of the rebels, but is literally watching their every move).
I also think that when Luke "freaks out" after Vader's taunt to tempt his sister (try saying that three times fast) one should add pieces of the surrounding area flying/pummeling into Vader (which would be a nice turn on how Luke was handled in the Bespin fight) and/or lightning from the electronics zapping Vader to show just how much power Luke has, as well as explain why Vader is defeated so easily. Even regardless of adding any of that, I would at least edit OUT Vader "taking a knee" and purposefully falling down and exposing his hand to be wacked off.

<p>Disagree. Vader's arrival and conversation with Moff J sets up the ominous news that "The Emperor is coming here?!". The fear in J's voice, followed by his immediate, trembling resolve to redouble his efforts, tell the viewer a <em>lot</em> about the Emperor.</p>

<p>But you get all of that when the Emperor arrives. You don't need Vader to talk the Emperor up when he comes off as ultimate evil right out of the (shuttle's) gate, <em>not to mention</em> Moff J is pretty much a useless character, as you never really see him much (other than that one scene, and the rest were cut out).</p>

Agreed.....this has long been one of my fav SW visuals, and would serve to breathe some life back into the idea of the jedi/sith being magical/mystical knights as opposed to the whole "you're born with it or you're not" bullsh*t we got from the PT. Additionally, it would require no known or recognizable faces....it could all be filmed by people in costume. At the most you would need the emperor's chin.....and if his face WAS needed, it could easily be taken from other parts of the film (especially if large parts are to be edited out)

Hi, guys. New member.
I love what Ady did with Star Wars, and I hope the same care to staying true with the original story is first on his list when he finishes the other OT movies. That being said, ROTJ needs more fixes than the previous films, but nothing more than minor tweaks here and there, mind you.
1. Jabba slapping Threepio just looks too slow. A slight fast forward should fix that.
2. Tortured droid's feet in one scene don't touch the hot brands. This should have been fixed in the Special Edition with a little cgi.
3. Lando's cross belt is flipped from scene to scene while he talks to Han about loaning the Falcon for the Death Star attack. Maybe the scenes can be flipped back into proper sequence.
4. Luke's lightsaber is nowhere to be found on his belt while he's carrying Vader to a shuttle. Again, cgi quick fix.
5. Scene where storm troopers are attacked from behind by ewoks should be sped up slightly to make it seem like the little buggers are actually hurting them.
6. Imperial scout on speeder bike looks stopped before exploding from Chewie's laser blast. Minor tweak should make the speeder bike look like it wasn't stopped.
7. Human henchman in Jabba's palace keeps steering up into camera during Rancor scene. Maybe cgi, again, could alter his eyes so he looks like he's staring downward.
8. Boba Fett's rockets look a little crooked when he ignites them on the sail barge. Should be fixed so it doesn't look odd.
9. Make it seem that Jabba is really being choked hard by the chains.
10. fix the imperial bunker's missing locked door while Han impersonates as an imperial officer to get them to open it.
Im sure there's more, but these have always bothered me since I was a kid.

*RESPONSES IN CAPS*
1. Jabba slapping Threepio just looks too slow. A slight fast forward should fix that.
PERSONALLY ITS NEVER BOTHERED ME...HE HAS BULK BEHIND HIS SWING SO ITS BELIEVEABLE THAT IT WOULD KNOCK 3P0 DOWN...BUT I HAVE NO CLUE IF ADY HAS PLANS HERE...
2. Tortured droid's feet in one scene don't touch the hot brands. This should have been fixed in the Special Edition with a little cgi.
MY GUESS IS ADY WILL FIX THIS
3. Lando's cross belt is flipped from scene to scene while he talks to Han about loaning the Falcon for the Death Star attack. Maybe the scenes can be flipped back into proper sequence.
ADY HAS A HISTORY OF CORRECTING FLIPPED SHOTS.
4. Luke's lightsaber is nowhere to be found on his belt while he's carrying Vader to a shuttle. Again, cgi quick fix.
AGAIN, NO IDEA OF ADY'S SPECIFIC PLAN HERE....BUT LUKE THROWS IT AWAY TO MAKE A POINT TO THE EMPEROR. IT SEEMS LOGICAL TO ME THAT HE WOULDN'T HAVE RETRIEVED IT IN THE HURRY TO GET HIS FATHER AND HIMSELF OFF THE DSII.
5. Scene where storm troopers are attacked from behind by ewoks should be sped up slightly to make it seem like the little buggers are actually hurting them.
THAT WHOLE BATTLE IS BEING ADDRESSED TO MAKE THE EWOKS MORE BELIEVABLE AS A FIGHTING FORCE.
6. Imperial scout on speeder bike looks stopped before exploding from Chewie's laser blast. Minor tweak should make the speeder bike look like it wasn't stopped.
AGAIN, ODDS ARE THIS WILL BE ADDRESSED.
7. Human henchman in Jabba's palace keeps steering up into camera during Rancor scene. Maybe cgi, again, could alter his eyes so he looks like he's staring downward.
NEVER NOTICED THIS. DON'T KNOW IF ITS SOMETHING THATS EVER BOTHERED ADY.
8. Boba Fett's rockets look a little crooked when he ignites them on the sail barge. Should be fixed so it doesn't look odd.
IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY ADY AGREES THAT MANY OF THE FETT FLYING EFFECTS WERE DONE RATHER DODGILY AND HE PLANS TO ADDRESS THAT.
9. Make it seem that Jabba is really be choked hard by the chains.
NEVER HAD A PROBLEM BELIEVING THIS MYSELF.
10. fix the imperial bunker's missing locked door while Han impersonates as an imperial officer to get them to open it.
GOT A SCREENCAP? NOT AWARE OF THIS ONE.
