Just got word back from Speaking of AI. Here’s what he had to say.

“I’m well, thanks.”

“Unfortunately, the updates to my AI models didn’t go as well as I’d hoped. I can control the emotion a little better - but the quality of the speech drops considerably. Also, I don’t have a good method to get Adam Driver to do a “soft” voice - which is required for some of the lines.”

“To be honest, I don’t think the technology is there yet, for this kind of project. It’s okay for narration, but not for real acting/emoting. You’re probably better off getting a voice actor to do a Kylo Ren impersonation.”

“Sorry about that - but I wish you all the best with the project.”

I responded back to see if the line, “You’re just a clone” could still be used.

“You’re just a clone”?

If you’re planning on adding unused music, you should definitely check out Superultramegaa’s channel for examples of his soundtrack restoration work. https://youtube.com/c/Superultramegaa19

And would you consider trying to fix the green screen in the deleted scene from DH P2 with Harry and Ginny on the marble staircase?

I am not skilled at VFX myself, so I wouldn’t be able to.

Also, I don’t plan on adding that scene back in. While it showcases a nice scene between Harry and Ginny, it kind of ruins the surprise of Harry being in the crowd and revealing himself to everyone in the Great Hall.

I suppose there is a different way to look at the sequence, as if Harry himself chooses to reveal himself, but I think the sequence works better without the deleted scene. I don’t know, I could reconsider adding it back in like I did with the scene from Half-Blood Prince with Harry and Dumbledore leaving the cave.

Who do you plan on having handle the VFX for you, then?

I don’t know. I’ve never commissioned anyone to do VFX for one of my projects before. I’m hoping someone can help for my other projects as well such as Superman II and Spider-Man 3. Maybe even find someone talented at deepfakes too.

And you say you’ll be adding in some trailer shots as well. I hope to see some preview clips in the coming weeks so I can see how seamlessly they can be integrated into the film.

I’m planning on adding in three. I’ve already added in the shot of Ginny being disarmed by Greyback from the original teaser of Half-Blood Prince. I’m also planning on adding an extra shot of the Hogwarts shield breaking away and the moment with Voldemort grabbing Harry’s face from Deathly Hallows - Part 2.

How do you plan on making a smooth and effective transition to the last one?

He probs got confused because you didn’t put quotes around “No one”. I think the moment works better with her declaration of being a Jedi as well.

I retract my previous statement, then. “I am a Jedi” works perfectly fine. With a little more fine-tuning, it’ll be pitch perfect and serve as a much grander ending to the saga overall. That, and the Phantom Four. 😃

And while I appreciate the work, I feel the scene as it is in V1 works better in the order it is. Just two bordering establishing shots of the Falcon.

And, if anything, I’d prefer to imply 3PO never regains his memory other than R2 verbally bringing him up to speed. I don’t think invoking prequel memories would be advisable or possible to pull off.

Agreed wholeheartedly. Leaving his memories “permanently” wiped would give his arc at least some impact.

Atom,

That is extremely kind of you on all fronts! I appreciate the feedback and am so glad you and others have enjoyed this edit. It wouldn’t have been possible without Hal’s Legendary edit and many many other contributors.

The feedback from the members of this forum is top-notch— critical and respectful— and their attention to detail is next-level. This project started as one or two little changes, and kept growing from there until all of a sudden a year goes by!

And thank you for the congrats! It’s been the most exhausting and amazing experience becoming a dad. Can’t really put it into words (probably too tired 😆), but we appreciate the well wishes!

Take care,

poppasketti

Wait… since when did you become a father?! 😱

Has HAL considered taking notes from Dominic and manipulating the source material so that Rey is “Just Rey” at the end, presumably in an alternate cut of this admittedly fantastic project? From what I’ve seen on his own thread, the test clips he’s provided work spectacularly in their own right, and I think it could work remarkably well in the new context of the narrative. 😃
