May I please grab a link to v3.0, good sir? đ
May I please grab a link to v3.0, good sir? đ
I didnât mean to derail, my intention in posting all of what I said was that I think what we have locked for v2 now is a significant improvement over the original while still residing within what was ultimately decided for the film. My two cents is that a lot of these other ideas on Palpatineâs plan have their merits, but may belong in a Starlight/Rekindled branch of this project.
Poppa should get on that, actually. See what he can do with the material at his disposal.
Thatâs what I like about Halâs edits: they donât deviate too much from the original film, they mostly seek to enhance whatâs already there.
âTruer to the filmmakersâ intentions?â đ¤¨
Donât mean to speak for JarJar but I donât really understand the confusion here.
What were J.J.'s intentions for TFA exactly?
Again, I do like this idea and wish it could be fully realized without seams. But by this point my TFA edit is a diet version of Nevâs Starlight, and my TLJ edit is a diet version of poppaskettiâs Rekindled, so I wonder what this edit will end up a diet version of??
I donât see them as Diet Hal, without your hard work we wouldnât have half of what we have. I havenât been around the forums as long as a lot of you but have seen enough to know that almost all editors take inspiration from your edits and even use them as their main to work off.
As for TROS this seems to be the fan bases main thread.
Neither do I. In fact, Iâm planning on continuing to use Restructured because itâs truer to the original filmmakers intentions.

Holy shit, there are a lot of ideas on how to revise Palpatineâs master plan, arenât there? I wonder whose will ultimately come out on top before V2 is locked and ready for release? đ
Iâve been hoping that Warner Bros would do something like this, or even better, release even more deleted scenes that people havenât seen yet, while also putting a little money into the unfinished VFX. Youâd be spending even less money than over $50 million on reconstructing Zack Snyderâs cut of Justice League. But, it seems like theyâre not going to do anything special like that to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Philosopherâs Stone.
A man can dream, though. A man can dream. đ

Yes⌠I wonder? đ¤
Maybe krausfadr or Acbagel will step up to the plate, I dunno. đ¤ˇââď¸
I think they should just release new extended cuts of all eight movies on HBO Max already. Iâve been hoping to see an official DH two-in-one extended cut called The Deathly Hallows, released in a similar vein to Zack Snyderâs Justice League.
Okay, okay⌠Iâm spitballing here, it might sound crazy⌠but what if weâre approaching this backwards? What if the most straightforward way to sell Palpatineâs plan is to actually take him at his word at the end, and instead remove all traces of him wanting Rey dead?
Opening on Exogol: Palpatine offers the fleet âif you do as I ask.â Kylo, after a moment considering it, silently lowers his saber in agreement. Palpatine smiles menacingly to end the scene: a deal has been struck, but we the audience donât know what. We can still guess, however, that it could be Rey-related, because Halâs edit transitions right into Rey meditating.
Board room meeting now has a new context to it. When an officer asks Kylo what the Emperor wants, Kylo silences him immediately. We the audience donât know what Kylo and the Emperorâs deal was, so we donât know that Kyloâs outburst is unreasonable; on the contrary, weâre now more intrigued that Kylo is keeping this so secretive.
When Palpatine chastises Kylo after Pasaana, remove references to killing Rey. Full remaining dialog:
âPerhaps you have betrayed me. Do not make me turn my fleet against you.â
âI know where sheâs going. She will never be a Jedi.â
âMake sure of it.â
We now know for certain, though we already suspected, that Kyloâs agreement involves Rey somehow. The threat, however, is still vague. From here out, Kylo mentions twice aboard his ship on Kijimi that Palpatine tried to kill Rey as a kid, reveals that sheâs a Palpatine, and suggests that they should team up instead. We think we get it now: not only is this the big reveal that Rey is a Palpatine, but itâs the big reveal of Kyloâs mission to kill her and finish the job.
After Endor, Palpatine says that Leia has ruined his plans. We assume this is because Kylo couldnât kill her. But weâre still assuming wrong.
Finally, on Exegol, in a genuine third act twist, we learn the truth from Palpatine himself, unedited: he never wanted her dead, he wanted her here with him. The audience can now infer that bringing Rey to Exogol was Kyloâs true mission all along, and Kylo had lied to Rey about Palpatine trying to kill her as part of his attempt to manipulate her to his own ends, planning to betray Palpatine from the beginning. Even the times it seemed Kylo was genuinely trying to kill Rey, he was spiting the Emperor rather than serving him. And since Kylo must have actually known Palpatineâs true goal all along, as Ben he is now rushing back to Exogol because he knows Rey is playing into Palpatineâs hands.
Thoughts?
Oh⌠my⌠Gosling! Hal, get on this immediately! đ
We donât know for 100% sure that Rey is dead dead when Ben heals her. She could just have fallen unconscious and been really weak and on the edge of death or whatever.
You know what? Looking back at the filmâs somewhat vague production history, Disney must have really botched this as much as they could. And that doesnât just regard the mysterious deleted scenes weâve yet to see.
Someone needs to produce a feature-length documentary surrounding the production troubles, reshoots and re-edits, and the actorsâ honest experiences on Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. That way, we can sleep easy knowing weâll finally have the true story in our hands and Disney will be held accountable for the final part of the Sequel Trilogy turning out as bad as it did.
Because with all the information we have gathered on the movie so far, I think this is quite a lot to take in. And that usually exhausts me and constitutes as too much info to take in at once, but I am genuinely interested in hearing what really went wrong behind the scenes, and what we can all learn from it. đ¤
But yeah, I am still happy with what Hal is doing for us, the fans. I hope V2 truly lives up to the hype! đ
Trust me, that event continues to plague me, which is why on the preview of this new intro you will find a pretty good-sized watermark on it. I still find references to the guy that took my preview edits. They are still on YouTube and there isnât much I can do about them. So I choose to move forward. I have enjoyed getting back into editing lately and Iâm not going to let someone from the past take that away.
On that note, here is the new intro section that will be used on both Deathly Hallows Part 1 and the combined Deathly Hallows edit. The new intro includes the Dudley Redemption scene with green screens replaced. To accomplish this, I used Topaz Labs Video Enhance AI to upscale the footage to 4K and to smooth out some of the pixelation from the low res footage. This allowed for better masking of the green screen in some parts as well as allowing me to crop some of the green screen areas out completely.
I know that for some the intro will be way too long and the âflowâ of it will have been broken by this addition. Everyone is entitled to their opinions, including whether to like this change or not. If you donât like it, the current versions do not have this added in. To me, this scene is critical and should have never been cut. It had such an impact on me when I read the book the first time, so for v2.0 this scene will be there.
I also added sound effects when Hermione does the Obliviate spell as her pictures are removed from the frames. Some minor color tweaking was also done.
My friend, you just earned yourself a new subscriber. đ
Whatâs the cinch on the bridge deleted scene from 7.2? I reckon itâll take an experienced VFX editor in the field to get it looking just right to fit in the movie.
So sorry about this, Sherlock. If itâs any consolation, I really liked your take on the line. đĽ˛
Iâve been working with the Captain Hux audio a bit. I wanted to try playing up the whole âplayground bullyâ thing that Hux and Kylo have going on, so I tried to focus more on âCaptainâ being an insult, not just a rank. And then all of the other officers look over at him like, âOh shoot, Hux was demoted?? Thatâs some hot gossip, right there.â (Note that the word âCaptainâ would still need to be added into the surround channels, so it doesnât sound as echo-y right now.)
I like this version better than the last one. Granted, itâs been a while since I watched the last clip, but aside from the obvious point to make (i.e. the missing echo), the word âcaptainâ sounds very seamlessly edited in, replacing Huxâs former position as âGeneralâ in light of his incompetence as leader of the First Order and allowing Kylo to formally assume command from here on out. Well done, Sherlock! Top marks all around! đ
Man, I really need to learn to actually read in future. đ
I imagine this will require a metric fuckton of new VFX and/or newly shot footage to make this reconstructed narrative work entirely in its favour. đ
Are you planning on doing something with Chewieâs death fake-out, Acbagel?
Would this serve as a âdefinitiveâ finale to Daniel Craigâs tenure as 007?
Any deleted scenes you wonât be using?
Right, are there any updates on the new box set? Are we getting any new deleted scenes or not? If not, then WarnerMedia really are utterly useless. đ
Iâd like to see this once it is finished. I donât see why they canât just release separate versions of the whole movie with the IMAX shots.
Shame we wonât get to see the sabers fizzling out at the end of the film due to MoviesRemasteredâs situation, but I guess thatâs what future revisions are for. đ¤ˇââď¸
I was in a hurry looking at Nevâs most recent clip until now. I like the subtle touch of adding lava to the extreme right side of frame for poppaskettiâs forest flyover shot!
Agreed 100%!
Do you have a detailed list of changes?
Maybe thereâll be a V3 if any official, full-length deleted scenes are ever released on a future Blu-ray/4K Blu-ray set. đ¤
Hereâs the current state of the Mustafar sequence. I added TIE sounds to Nevâs and Poppaskettiâs new shot, though I might need to make the TIE sounds a little louder.

That is spot-on. đ
