The demo is a very good representation of the entire game. In fact, it is a good representation of the first portion of the game where there are giant creatures trying to impale you and you are running around in a cool overgrown outdoor setting. Later your biggest enemies become giant cog wheels, electrified signs, and long drops; the first portion was much more imagination inspiring. If the demo didn't really do it for you, then don't even consider bothering. The fact is, I played the demo, it did it for me, and I really wanted more but couldn't justify the full 1200 MSP, so when it dropped to 1000 MSP I didn't hesitate to jump at it.

My review may have came off as overly harsh. I really did like the game. I am just puzzled at the mass hype it has gotten. I am used to having to justify some of the stranger games I like, this feels like it ought to be one of those games, yet instead it is getting superlatively high praise. Maybe it just really strikes a chord with the emo/goth/Hot Topic crowd.

EDIT: By the way, I just one 400 MSP and it expires in a month. Anyone have any suggestions? I also happened to have a relatively useless 359 MSP (I don't even know how that happens!) on my account, giving me a total of 759 MSP, less than a buck short of buying a shiny new 800 MSP game (like The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile, which I really want. I loved TD: Dead Samurai).

I think the movie and the book were both written to be intentionally ambiguous.  While I lean to your interpretation, I think the movie supports your cousin's as a valid interpretation as well.
What? I don't see how it could support anything but the explanation the movie itself gave. Vanilla Sky was like that, no one understood it, even though they spend the last 10 minutes of the movie explaining what was going on.

I agree. The movie spelled out the explanation quite clearly and definitively, I don't think there was the least bit of ambiguity about it.

I loved that movie while watching it, thought it was shaping up to be a great little mystery thriller, especially when he met the woman in the cave. It was getting really exciting with all the conspiracy stuff. Then all the twists kicked in... and I was pretty disappointed. Feels like everything goes for the "WHAT A TWIST!!!" shock reaction these days. Comes off as a lame gimmick to me. Tired of it. Very disappointed by Shutter Island in the end, felt it could have been so much more.

War movies, Batman, that sort of thing I'm fine with.  There was a film a few years ago with Naomi Watts as part of a family taken hostage and brutalized by two criminals.  For the life of me, I can't imagine someone desiring to watch two hours of something that horrible. Its appeal is completely lost on me.

Being much younger than you two, and I guess still quite angst ridden, I still couldn't imagine ever wanting to see anything like the Naomi Watts film you mentioned, but overly violent things like Metalocalypse tend to amuse the hell out of me.

My computer got one of those "Rogue Antivirus" viruses, so I'm using my laptop until I'm positive the virus is gone.

I friggin hate this virus, but at least no damage is done until you give them credit card information. I don't have a credit card, or money for that matter, so they couldn't get me, ha ha ha. It wouldn't let me open any programs like AVG, so I just switched to safe mode, and ran AVG scan, and now I'm hitting it with Malwarebytes.

It beats the shit out of the nasty virus I got the year before last. That virus forced me to reformat. I doubt I could handle that virus with all the knowledge I've gained since. That virus was vicious, and I've done everything I can to prevent another one like it.

I got that on my emulated Windows on my Mac once. Really annoying. I read that a lot of people don't mind paying the $29.99 to get there computer back, so they just do it. Yay! Way to support the assholes who do shit like that! Fortunately, being emulated, I just loaded up an older save state prior to getting the virus. But I did play around with it a bit first, that thing was brutal. I usually have no problem getting rid of viruses, that thing tied my hands in ever possible way I could think of.

An American airing might be nice, for no other reason than that it would ensure the show is written on a more accessible level for Americans. Extras is obviously a lot easier for Americans to get into than The Office, I attribute this primarily to HBO's involvement.

But beyond that, I really don't care. I am just looking forward to it. It is just now filming, I think, so it will be a while.

Well, I am not sure you can say it is a "German movie"... It was made by an American studio, featured a mostly American cast, began with a British director who was fired for going over budget and replaced by a famous German director who decided to move filming to Germany. So, while ultimately it was filmed in Germany and directed by a German, I am not sure that really makes it a German film.

Peter Jackson is from New Zealand and The Lord of the Rings films were filmed in New Zealand, but would we really call them New Zealand films?

Curb Your Enthusiasm  "Me thinks the lady does protest too much."

Season 8 premiers July 10th, set in New York City, and featuring Ricky Gervais as a guest star.  Can't wait!!!

That is going to amazing!

I am also really, really, really, really, really looking forward to Gervais and Merchant's upcoming series Life's Too Short which is to be a fictionalized biographical series in the vein of Curb following Warwick Davis. Warwick Davis, Ricky Gervais, and Stephen Merchant, there is really nothing about that combination of names that isn't mind bogglingly exciting. Just based on the too good to be true premise, this is going to be the greatest TV show of all time.

Well done to the Akwats

Or did you mean the Kbranas?

Akwats are silly creatures in that their sirnames come first and given names second.

Finally beat Limbo. I bought it, played it more than halfway through in one setting, got really stuck in one section, took a break, got busy, and just never made it back.

I liked it. It is visually pleasant and the puzzles can require a bit of thought to solve without being overly difficult or frustrating. But the trial and error game play is a bit annoying. Most of the time you have to die from an obstacle in order to even know it is there. The first time you play the game everything that can kill you will kill you, and the amusing overly violent deaths only amuse the first few times you see them... and you're going to see them a lot.

As much as I liked the game, I am not quite sure why it has been as popular as it has. Seems like since its release I've seen this thing ranked among the big boys on every list of top Xbox games of 2010 or top Xbox Arcade games of all time. Was it really such a bad year for new games? Or was there some really shining aspect of Limbo I somehow completely failed to see? Personally, I think Braid is ten times the game Limbo is and far more intelligent, too. While Braid was popular, I don't recall it ever getting anything near the praise and hype of Limbo.

I don't think Limbo is worth anything near its $15 price tag either. I bought it when it was on sale for 800 MS point ($10), but I'd encourage others to wait until it is on a 50% off sale; 600 MS points is just about the perfect price for the game.

Mistakes like that are always FAR more noticeable to you as the guy in front of the crowd of people than it is to the actual crowd of people. And even the choir director who is up there in front of everyone all the time made a mistake, everybody does, not a bit deal at all. Sounds like you did a fantastic job.

Now go out and buy a Yorkshire Terrier and take it for walks in the park!

Sex and the City... What's worse is that... I enjoyed it. HELP!

Look at the rabbits, Lennie, just look down on that farm over there...

But the show was on HBO, so I'm sure it had some redeemable qualities, but still I don't see myself watching an episode any time soon.

Oh man! Between your Steinbeck reference and that other guy going on and on about Orwell... I am in a minor state of euphoria here! I think you can see what I do with some of that free time I save by not watching TV... ;)

As for Sex and the City being HBO and therefore must have redeemable qualities... is HBO magical in that all in can spit out is worthwhile? Though I've not seen a lot of HBO stuff, beyond Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Ricky Gervais Show, and Extras, that I can think of.

My DVDs look just fine on a  50" 1080p television

*head asplode*

I mean, they don't look like squeaky clean DNR'd to death Blu-rays, but they don't look "On no! I must replace with latest and greatest NOW!" type bad by any means. Obviously they'd look better at a higher resolutions, but I am perfectly content with how they look now.

How is it possible that something be so adorable, awesome and badass at the same time??????????

I had one once (funnily enough, he actually was named Chewbacca)...

I feel like I should add onto this that going for walks in the park with him was always a fun experience. You know all of those women you see jogging in the park in sports bra and short shorts? Yeah, the ones you try really hard to look at without looking like you are looking at them... Well yeah, pretty much each and every one of them that would jog by me would STOP jogging and start inquiring about the dog and make small talk for a bit.

Soooooo, single and lonely ot.com members: Yorkshire Terriers, not a bad investment... and as a perk, they resemble really tiny four legged wookies!

Of course I knew it was a Blu-ray, just because I don't watch TV doesn't means I'm daft. ;)  I bought it because it was $5 and my DVD copy of that movie is only a 1.33 aspect ratio.

Actually, I expected to have a Blu-ray player by now, but I've still as of yet never even been so much as slightly tempted to buy one. My DVDs look just fine on a  50" 1080p television (well, there are these three films I rather like that look like shit on it, but all the rest look fine), so I just haven't seen a point. And streaming HD seems to be making quite a scene, by the time I get around to needing to replace my DVD player, Blu-ray might not even be the big thing anymore. Not to mention, more often than not I am less than impressed with the Blu-ray transfers and their overzealous DNR in many of the films I'd consider buying.

I had one once (funnily enough, he actually was named Chewbacca). The one pictured may look badass and awesome in that picture... but trust me, badass and/or awesome are hardly ever terms that apply to such a dog. Once the maintenance guy dropped by to fix something, was there for less than five minutes. Having a stranger in the house scared the thing so much he stayed under the bed shaking like an idiot for an hour. Couldn't get him to come out. Totally badass.
